Former Alabama OL Tommy brown lands incredible NIL deal

Former Alabama OL shares amazing pictures from his NIL deal with an underwear brand.

Former Alabama offensive lineman Tommy Brown revealed a new name, image, likeness (NIL) deal with Shinesty to promote the brand’s underwear.

Brown joined the Crimson Tide as a member of the 2018 recruiting class but transferred to Colorado ahead of the 2022 college football season.

Pictures of Brown posing with the Shinesty products have gone viral and were paired with an amazing quote from the offensive lineman.

“When you have a body this good, you deserve to be paid,” Brown said.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to cover Alabama players and former members of the Crimson Tide and their ventures in the realm of NIL.

Colorado offensive lineman Tommy Brown signs iconic NIL deal to be underwear model

An absolutely iconic NIL deal.

The dawn of the name, image and likeness era has brought us a lot of great deals that benefit college athletes across a multitude of sports. Football players have been making the most of these opportunities in creative ways. Nebraska’s Decoldest Crawford gave us an incredible HVAC commercial. Alabama QB Bryce Young has a handful of deals, including ones that show off his acting chops. Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud used his partnership with Express to get his teammates gift cards.

All of them pale in comparison to the new deal signed by Colorado offensive lineman Tommy Brown with clothing company Shinesty to be an underwear model.

You absolutely love to see it.

Alabama transfer Tommy Brown getting healthy with season opener close

Now back practicing, Tommy Brown discussed his first camp with the Buffs

The Colorado Buffaloes had an up-and-down offseason with the transfer portal.

However, they were able to land a talented offensive lineman from Alabama. Yes, the Crimson Tide watched one of their own leave Tuscaloosa and come to Boulder. That player is Tommy Brown.

It has been a long road for Brown so far in Colorado as he has been working his way back from a knee injury. However, on Monday, Brown got cleared to practice and expressed how important it was to stay mentally ready (h/t Nikki Edwards of Rivals).

“The mental reps I got in fall camp were pretty incredible. I’m fully locked in and finally getting to get back in there and work is a dream come true. I was getting frustrated how long it was taking. … knee feels great and excited to see what this team could do.”

Transferring from Alabama to Colorado is a gigantic change, although Brown will get plenty more reps in Boulder than he did with the Crimson Tide.

The offensive line has been a significant talking point this offseason, and if they can piece it together, Brendon Lewis or JT Shrout will be a lot more comfortable throwing the football.

Hopefully, Brown doesn’t go through any setbacks and he can take the field against TCU on Sept. 2 for the season opener.

What uniform number each of Colorado’s incoming transfers will wear in 2022

We’ve got uniform numbers for Colorado’s incoming transfer players

The Colorado Buffaloes saw a lot of players leave for other programs this offseason. However, they did land a solid group of talented players via the transfer portal. Baylor wide receiver RJ Sneed is the best of the bunch, and he should see a flurry of targets with Brenden Rice out of the picture.

While Karl Dorrell’s team isn’t expected to make much noise in 2022, the Buffs are getting better and might just surprise people this season.

With the season a month away, let’s examine the new transfer players and see what numbers they will be rocking in Boulder this season (h/t Adam Munstersteiger of 247Sports).

How CU’s incoming transfer players performed last season

The Buffs didn’t get a whole lot of incoming players via the transfer portal, but they did get some good ones.

Unfortunately, the Colorado Buffaloes have been hit hard by the transfer portal as far as football goes. The list is just so long, but Mekhi Blackmon, Jarek Broussard, Brenden Rice and Christian Gonzalez are just a few who have entered.

Rice and Blackmon joined USC, Gonzalez joined Oregon and Karl Dorrell’s team has been gashed by the transfer portal.

However, they have received a few players via the transfer portal this offseason, including WR R.J. Sneed II from Baylor. It’s only January, too, so the Buffs could still tap further into the transfer portal market.

Let’s dive in and see how CU’s four current incoming transfers performed this past season.

Buffs land Alabama transfer offensive lineman Tommy Brown

Colorado gained a former four-star offensive lineman

Maybe the transfer portal isn’t all bad.

New offensive line coach Kyle DeVan and the Buffs gained a good one on Thursday in Alabama Crimson Tide transfer offensive lineman Tommy Brown.

Anytime the Buffs snag a former Alabama player, it turns heads around Boulder and Brown should be no different. The 6-foot-7, 320-pound graduate transfer played both guard and tackle during his four seasons at Alabama and is a former four-star recruit from 2018. Brown played 10 games for the Crimson Tide last season and started one against New Mexico at right guard. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

One day after the Buffs lost Chance Lytle to the transfer portal, Brown’s arrival is more than welcome.

Brown is now the fourth transfer Colorado has added to its roster this offseason. QB Maddox Kopp (Houston), wide receiver R.J. Sneed II (Baylor) and defensive end Chance Main (Incarnate Word) are the other three.

DeVan’s O-line also recently gained a 2022 commit with three-star center Van Wells.

Multiple Alabama players have entered the transfer portal, could become Texas targets

Five Alabama players have entered the transfer portal. Could Texas be a potential landing spot?

Alabama lost the national championship on Monday night as Bryce Young threw an ill-advised pick-six to Georgia’s Kelee Ringo to ice the game.

Less than a day after the hard-fought loss, Alabama has lost five players to the transfer portal.

  • OL Tommy Brown
  • TE Jahleel Billingsley
  • LB King Mwikuta
  • LB Drew Sanders
  • QB Paul Tyson

Texas should have an advantage in recruiting a few of the Alabama transfers if they chose to reach out. These players will have some familiarity with the Texas staff containing multiple former Alabama assistants. The Longhorns were able to land running back Keilan Robinson from Alabama last offseason.

Robinson sent out a cryptic tweet after the news dropped.

It would make sense for Texas to target Billingsley, Mwikuta and Sanders as tight end and linebacker are positions of need in Austin.

Billingsley would fit right in at tight end at Texas. The former four-star played in eight games this season while he totaled 256 receiving yards and three scores. He should already have a strong understanding of Sarkisian’s offense as he played in it last season.

Linebacker is a position Texas needs to see major improvements from if they want to have a bounce-back 2022 season.

Drew Sanders is a former five-star from the state of Texas who was injured most of the 2021 season. He is an edge rusher who would fit the “Jack” position in Texas’ defense.

This marks the second trip to the transfer portal for Mwikuta. The third-year linebacker was a former top 150 prospect but has been stuck in a special teams role at Alabama.

Texas will welcome Alabama to Austin in Week 2 of the 2022 season. Potentially an intriguing storyline if any of the former tide players end up at Texas.

Alabama players respond to tweet from USC WR Amon-Ra St. Brown

USC wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is disappointed that he won’t get to play Alabama, and a few Tide players had responses.

Alabama was expected to take on the USC Trojans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington (Tex.) on Sept. 5. Unfortunately, that game will no longer take place after it was announced that Pac-12 would be playing a conference-only schedule.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, a current standout receiver for USC, took to Twitter to voice his displeasure with not getting to play the Crimson Tide.

That tweet got responses from Tide and Trojan fans alike, but it also got the attention of a couple of current — and former — Alabama players as well. First, it was redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Tommy Brown, who will be competing for starting spot this season.

Then, former Alabama outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings jumped into the conversation with a simple, yet common, response.. “Lol.”

It’s unfortunate that this game won’t happen due to the impact of COVID-19 on society, as it seems like both sides were ready to get to kickoff in order to set the tone for 2020 season.

The last time Alabama played USC was back in 2016 when former Tide quarterback Jalen Hurts took over for Blake Barnett early in the game and helped led his team to a dominate 52-6 win over the Trojans.

Unfortunately, it looks like Nick Saban and company will have to wait a bit longer to starting righting the ship after missing the College Football Playoff for the first time since its creation in 2019.

Alabama football countdown: 75 days until kickoff

We are only 75 days from Alabama football kicking off its season against the USC Trojans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Alabama is set to kick off its season against the USC Trojans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington (Tex.) on Sept. 5. As long as COVID-19 doesn’t alter the schedule, it will be the first time the Crimson Tide has faced USC since the dominate 52-6 win back in 2016.

With it now being June 22, that means we’re only 75 days away from football season officially being back!

After coming up just short of making its fifth-consecutive College Football Playoff experience, Alabama will look to bounce back in 2020 with a strong roster and returning coaching staff.

Third-year offensive lineman Tommy Brown has been wearing the No. 75 over the last few seasons for the Crimson Tide. After being in a rotational/depth role, the 6-foot-7, 317-pounder is expected to push for a starting job at either right tackle or offensive guard.

Height: 6-7 / Weight: 317

Class: Redshirt Sophomore

Hometown: Santa Ana (Calif.)

High School: Mater Dei High School

HS ranking (247Sports): 4-star / No. 132 overall / No. 4 OG / No. 17 CA

HS ranking (Rivals): 4-star / No. 196 overall / No. 13 OT / No. 29 CA

Analysis: Tommy Brown is an interesting prospect to monitor heading into fall camp. If Alabama could’ve practiced in the spring, we could’ve gotten a better idea who was leading to be the fifth starter along the offensive line, but now, a lot will need to be determined in the coming months.

Brown will be in competition with several players, but things could come down to only two other linemen: Emil Ekiyor Jr. and Darrin Dalcourt. Granted, it’s all going to depend where other linemen — such as Landon Dickerson and Deonte Brown — end up starting, but Tommy Brown should be in the mix.

At 6-foot-7, 317 pounds, Brown brings length and overall size to the line, but where is his best position? It’s possible that it could be at right tackle, but if Evan Neal ends up sliding into that spot, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Brown get a crack at either right or left guard.

Considering he was a consensus top 200 prospect coming out of Bryce Young’s alma mater in Mater Dei High School, it’s expected that Brown should eventually be a starter — whether that’s in 2020 or beyond.
