Aqib Talib steps aside from Amazon’s ‘Thursday Night Football’ coverage

Aqib Talib won’t be part of Amazon’s ‘Thursday Night Football’ coverage this season.

Aqib Talib won’t be part of Amazon’s Thursday Night Football coverage this season, the former cornerback told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Talib is stepping aside from his role on TNF after his brother, Yaqub, was charged with felony first-degree murder after a man was killed at a youth football game in Dallas on Aug. 13. Yaqub turned himself in last week.

Aqib and Yaqub are both coaches for the North Dallas United Bobcats. The shooting happened after arguments about a call during a game between the Bobcats and D.E.A. Dragons. The argument turned physical and then one of the Dragons’ coaches, 43-year-old Michael Hickmon, was shot multiple times and later died. Yaqub allegedly shot Hickmon.

Aqib has not faced any charges. He told Rapoport that he’s is stepping “aside from his broadcasting duties at Amazon to spend time with his family.” Talib had previously signed on with Amazon earlier this year to contribute to pre-game, halftime and post-game coverage of TNF in 2023.

Talib had a 12-year career in the NFL and he won Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos following the 2015 season.

Broncos, Russell Wilson share behind-the-scenes clips from photo shoot

Seeing Russell Wilson and his teammates in full gear has us so excited for the season!

The Denver Broncos will have seven nationally-televised games this season and five games in prime time. The Broncos (and the networks carrying the games) will want to have footage and photos to promote the games this fall, so the team recently had a photo and video shoot at their facility.

The team’s official Twitter page and newly-acquired quarterback Russell Wilson shared behind-the-scenes-clips from the shoot. Many of Wilson’s teammates joined the fun.

Photo shoot participants that there’s behind-the-scenes footage of includes second-year running back Javonte Williams, third-year receiver Jerry Jeudy, fifth-year edge rusher Bradley Chubb, second-year cornerback Pat Surtain, newly-acquired defensive lineman D.J. Jones and fifth-year receiver Courtland Sutton. The Broncos’ 1-2 punch safety duo, Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson, were a part of the shoot as well.

Circling back to Wilson, the 25-second video he posted on his personal Twitter account has amassed over 1.5 million views thus far. As of this writing. “Just put my jersey on for the first time,” Wilson said in the video. “Broncos Orange, let’s ride.”

Later in the video, Jeudy appears alongside Wilson during the green scene part of the shoot. Of course, like with targets on game day, Wilson wasn’t selfish with his camera time. Sutton makes a cameo toward the end. Fantasy football enthusiasts hope Wilson can keep this balance with his pass attempts next as well. Check out behind-the-scenes clips from the Broncos’ photo shoot below.

Von Miller’s pride is hurting after failing to backup smack talk

Broncos OLB Von Miller had to eat some humble pie after failing to backup his pre-game smack talk going into Thursday Night Football.

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller talked a lot of smack going into Thursday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

Knowing that the Browns had several injuries at offensive tackle, Miller predicted he would have a big game in Week 7.

“I’m going to go off,” Miller said Tuesday, predicting a multiple-sack performance. “I don’t know who the tackle is I’m going against, but I’m going to kill ’em.”

Miller failed to backup that trash talk on Thursday, totaling two tackles and no sacks before leaving the contest with an ankle injury. Denver went on to lose 17-14.

“The ankle is good …. My pride is hurting more than anything else,” Miller said after the game. “I talked a lot of s—- before this game and I made it personal. I wanted the animosity. I wanted this to be that game. I wanted to win and leave it all out [on the field]. Today, we did some great things in the [first] half.

“I felt like I was on the way to doing some great stuff in the second half but I got hurt. Hat’s off to those guys. They ran the ball and they had some key screens in both halves. We just weren’t quite able to get off the field on third down, and we weren’t quite able to stop the run.”

Miller owned up to the loss and ate some humble pie, giving credit to Cleveland’s offensive line that only allowed one sack.

“We lost today, and it’s humbling,” Miller said. “Hat’s off again to the offensive line. They played well today. We’ve got to rack it up and keep going.”

Up next for Miller and Denver’s defense is a home game against the Washington Football Team on Oct. 31. Miller said he expects to be healthy in time for that game in Week 8.

Broncos drop to 3-4 following 17-14 loss to Browns

After a 3-0 start to the season, the Broncos have now lost four straight games. It’s time for some changes.

The Cleveland Browns were without star running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt on Thursday evening, but that didn’t stop them from running over the Denver Broncos’ defense in a 17-14 win.

D’Ernest Johnson, Cleveland’s third-string running back, benefited from going up against a Denver defense that was missing both of their starting inside linebackers due to injuries. Johnson rushed 22 times for 146 yards and one touchdown in the victory.

Broncos inside linebackers Josey Jewell and Alexander Johnson are both on injured reserve with pec injuries, and fill-in starters Josey Jewell and Micah Kiser struggled to slow down the Browns’ rushing attack on Thursday.

Kiser then suffered a groin injury and was ruled out and was replaced by undrafted rookie Curtis Robinson.

Denver was also without starting outside linebacker Bradley Chubb (ankle) going into the game and fellow edge defender Von Miller suffered an ankle injury himself on Thursday evening and was ruled out. Malik Reed and seventh-round rookie Jonathon Cooper finished the game at outside linebacker.

Missing all four of their starting linebackers, the Broncos’ defense struggled against a Browns offense that was missing starting quarterback Baker Mayfield (shoulder) in addition to their top two running backs. Case Keenum started in the place of Mayfield and went 21-of-33 passing for 199 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.

Meanwhile, Denver’s quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater, had another underwhelming performance. Bridgewater threw his fifth interception of the season and he now has a turnover in three straight games.

Bridgewater threw a pair of short touchdown passes to make the game close in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to complete a comeback.

After losing four straight contests, Broncos coach Vic Fangio will likely be on the hot season, and fans are calling for change at quarterback, too.

Denver has 10 days before its next game, a home contest against the Washington Football Team in Week 8. Broncos Wire will be tracking any potential coach, quarterback and injury news in the coming days.

Broncos OLB Von Miller injured vs. Browns

Broncos OLB Von Miller suffered an ankle injury in the first half of #TNF against the Browns. He’s questionable to return.

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller suffered an ankle injury the first quarter of Thursday’s game against the Cleveland Browns when he collided with teammate Dre’Mont Jones while pass rushing.

After being treated on the field, Miller slowly walked off and then went to the locker room. Denver announced that Miller is questionable to return.

Before leaving the game, Miller totaled two tackles. Malik Reed and Jonathon Cooper will serve as the team’s top outside linebackers in the second half. The Broncos were already without Bradley Chubb going into the game.

Denver is now playing without all four of their starting linebackers: Miller (ankle), Chubb (ankle), Josey Jewell (pec) and Alexander Johnson (pec).

Justin Strnad and Micah Kiser started the game in the places of Jewell and Johnson at the inside linebacker spots. Kiser then suffered a groin injury and was ruled out, leaving undrafted rookie Curtis Robinson to replace him.

The Broncos are trailing the Browns 10-0 at halftime. Denver will get the ball to begin the third quarter.
