Paul Chryst and the Wisconsin Badgers continued their impressive recruiting season this week as they landed four-star defensive end T.J. Bollers.

The 2021 class was already No. 16 in the nation in 247Sports’ rankings–the highest a Badger class has ever been ranked–but what did Bollers’ commitment do for the class in the national rankings?

It singlehandedly moved the class up two spots to No. 4 in the Big Ten and up four spots to No. 12 in the nation.

Over the last decade the Badgers’ classes consistently landed around No. 25-30 in the national rankings, and now after landing Bollers they’re already pushing for the top 10 with several more commits yet to announce their decisions.

Only time will tell how this group develops and produces at the college level, but it’s hard not to look ahead to three years from now when players from this group are starters on a team led by Graham Mertz, Logan Brown, Jalen Berger and Nick Herbig.

Here is the entire 2021 group:

  • four-star offensive tackle J.P. Benzschawel
  • four-star offensive tackle Riley Mahlman
  • four-star safety Hunter Wohler
  • four-star tight end Jack Pugh
  • four-star defensive end T.J. Bollers
  • three-star inside linebacker Bryan Sanborn
  • three-star running back Jackson Acker
  • three-star defensive end Darryl Peterson
  • three-star defensive end Ayo Adebogun
  • three-star running back Loyal Crawford
  • three-star quarterback Deacon Hill
  • three-star linebacker Jake Chaney
  • three-star running back Antwan Roberts
  • three-star defensive end Mike Jarvis

Instant Twitter reaction: 2021 DE T.J. Bollers commits to Wisconsin

The Badgers land the four-star DE

Wisconsin just landed their top-ranked defensive recruit in the class of 2021 in Iowa DE T.J. Bollers. Here is what other class of 2021 Badger commits and more members of the Wisconsin family had to say on Twitter after the announcement.

Even before the news broke, 2021 Badger commit Darryl Peterson was ready to hear good news:

Bollers dropped his commitment video just after 12:15 p.m. today:

Peterson chimed in just after the video was released:

2021 Wisconsin QB commit Deacon Pe’a Hill showed his excitement:

National recruiting writers for 247Sports and ESPN are also taking notice of the 2021 class that is building in Madison:

Make sure to also check out an article written by Bollers in the Des Moines Register about why he chose Wisconsin:

Four-star 2021 defensive end T.J. Bollers–247Sports’ No. 8-ranked weak-side defensive end prospect and No. 147 overall–announced today on Twitter that he is committing to play for the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Clear Creek Amana High School product is the No. 2-ranked player in his home state of Iowa and now joins a 2021 Badger class that is pushing towards the top-10 of 247Sports’ national rankings.

Bollers becomes the fifth four-star recruit in the 2021 class, joining offensive lineman J.P. Benzschawel, Riley Mahlman, Hunter Wohler and Jack Pugh.

He also may not be the last, as Paul Chryst and his staff are still in the running for top recruits Nolan Rucci, Terrance Ferguson and more.

The commitment of Bollers continues the Badgers’ stellar recruiting season, one which has seen Paul Chryst and company build one of the most–if not the most–impressive recruiting classes in program history.

It is commitment day for a key 2021 Wisconsin target

The Badgers 2021 class looks to get even stronger

[lawrence-newsletter]Wisconsin’s class of 2021 has the chance to get even better this afternoon. 2021 four-star DE T.J. Bollers is set to make a decision today per his Twitter account.

Bollers has been heavily recruited by the Badgers for a number of months, and the four-star prospect would be the highest-rated defensive player in the class of 2021 according to 247Sports composite rankings if he commits to Wisconsin.

The Iowa native is deciding between Wisconsin, California, Notre Dame, Alabama, Northwestern, Penn State, and Iowa State.

The 247Sports crystal ball sees the Badgers as a heavy favorite to land Bollers. Per 247Sports’ Evan Flood, Bollers is expected to commit at around 12:15 p.m. CST today.

Wisconsin’s 2021 class moves up one spot in 247Sports’ recruiting rankings

As a check-in on 247Sports’ recruiting rankings with the Badgers currently in the conversation to land several top prospects–all guys set to commit in the near future–their 2021 class has moved up one spot to No. 16 in the nation.

This ranking comes with names including T.J. BollersNolan RucciTerrance Ferguson and Ricardo Hallman all though to be announcing their commitments in the near future and the Badgers among the finalists on each of their lists.

The No. 16-ranked 2021 recruiting class is already lining up to be the best in program history, though with recent news of Deacon Hill being set to receive a ratings bump and more players not yet committed the class could push towards the top-10.

A story last season and over the last few years has been the gap between Badgers’ and Ohio State Buckeyes recruiting–with Wisconsin only having nine four/five-star recruits on their roster last season and the Buckeyes seemingly landing nine-or-more new ones every year.

We saw what happened in the Big Ten Championship when Paul Chryst‘s unit gave Ohio State a run for its money, so only time will tell if the incoming 2021 class will be able to reverse the recent trend of Buckeye-over-Badger championship games.

Recruiting: Virtual Visit for One of Notre Dame’s Newest Offers

The Irish try to make an impression with a virtual visit to Notre Dame with one of their newest offered prospects.

With the NCAA extending the recruiting mandatory dead-period through the end of July, many teams continue to hold prospects to visit their campuses virtually. On Friday that happened with Iowa’s TJ Bollers, who was offered earlier this week.

Bollers interaction with the Irish staff has heated significantly this week and that bodes well for Brian Kelly and Mike Elston. Although late to the party with Bollers, getting him to visit virtually almost immediately after the offer confirms interest on both sides.

The one of the Irish’s biggest recruiters is commit Gabriel Rubio, who uses his social media account to try and entice Notre Dame prospects to join him in the 2021 class. Rubio seems pretty confident the Irish can get a commitment from the talented defensive end.

At the moment the 2021 Notre Dame class features three commits on the defensive line, Rubio, Texas’ David Abiara and Rhode Island’s Jason Onye. Rubio, from Missouri, is the tackle in the class, with Abiara and Onye playing on the edge. There have been rumors of Abiara flipping to Oklahoma, so going after Bollers makes plenty of sense. Bollers relationship with Notre Dame has evolved quickly and I feel like that’s a great sign for the Irish going forward.

Wisconsin receives two new crystal ball predictions

Four-star defensive end T.J. Bollers and three-star cornerback Ricardo Hallman–both Badger targets in the class of 2021–each received…

Four-star defensive end T.J. Bollers and three-star cornerback Ricardo Hallman–both Badger targets in the class of 2021–each received 247Sports crystal ball predictions yesterday that they will join Paul Chryst and the Badgers in Madison.

Bollers and Hallman have both expressed excitement on Twitter when other Badger targets including four-star tight end Jack Pugh committed to Wisconsin. So there’s a good chance they aren’t far behind.

These crystal ball predictions also come on the heels of several Badger football recruiting and personnel employees tweeting that there could be two recruits set to join their class of 2021 in the near future.

No news is close to set in stone, though with the recruiting process comes kernels of information and signs that point towards a conclusion.

The people at 247Sports seem to believe that solution will be the commitments of Bollers and Hallman in the not-so-distant future.

Notre Dame Offers Four-Star ’21 Iowa Defensive End

Notre Dame is looking for depth at defensive end in the 2021 class, offering one of the best Iowa prospects in the class earlier this week.

Notre Dame became the 20th team to offer a scholarship to four-star weak-side defensive end TJ Bollers earlier this week.  The Tiffin, Iowa (Clear Creek Amana) product is a top 150 player nationally on the 247Sports composite ratings (147) and a top ten weak-side defensive end (eight).

Among the 20 to make scholarship offers are Alabama, Iowa State, Nebraska and Wisconsin that are listed as the favorites to eventually land his commitment, something he told 247Sports he thought he was close to making before the Notre Dame offer came in.

“I had thought about making a decision sooner rather than later but that stuff can change depending on how things go with Notre Dame” – TJ Bollers to 247Sports

Bollers checks in at 6-3, 250 pounds and ranks as the second prospect in all of Iowa for the 2021 class.  Bollers participated in Notre Dame’s camp in June of 2018 and told 247Sports that he’s already made a gameday visit to South Bend as well.

It may seem like Notre Dame is late to the party for Bollers in terms of offering but it also sounds like the offer coming in got him to rethink a few things if nothing else.

A look at how Wisconsin football’s class of 2021 looks so far

A look at Wisconsin football’s class after the commitment of another 3-star recruit

With this morning’s commitment of 3-star running back Antwan Roberts via Twitterthe Badgers class of 2021 added another solid piece to an already impressive group. Here is a look at how the class shapes up as of today.

According to 247sports, the Badgers currently have the number five ranked 2021 football class in the nation. In terms of Big Ten conference rankings, UW enters in at second, behind only Ohio State.  Wisconsin’s class of 2021 currently features ten commitments, including two high-four star offensive lineman in JP Benzschawel and Riley Malman. Roberts became the third running back in the class, joining Wisconsin natives Jackson Acker and Loyal Crawford.

The Badgers have landed commitments from the top five players in the state of Wisconsin per 247sports rankings.

Wisconsin coaches still have their eyes on a plethora of top targets in the 2021 class. Offensive tackle Nolan Rucci is the five-star brother of current Wisconsin tight end Hayden Rucci, and the Pennsylvania native’s recruiting battle is all but down to the Badgers, Clemson, and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Wisconsin is also in a recruiting battle for four-star WDE TJ Bollers, who recently listed the Badgers in his top-6.

Three-star Santa Barbara (Calif.) quarterback Deacon Pe’a Hill is currently the only committed QB in the class of 2021. The pro-style QB has a massive arm, and recently earned an invite to the 2021 Polynesian Bowl
