Texans DT makes bizarre claim ahead of Week 16 matchup vs. Chiefs

One of the #Texans’ defensive linemen made a rather bizarre claim about his excitement to face #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes in Week 16.

The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up to play the Houston Texans this weekend, but an ankle injury sustained by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes looms large over the defending Super Bowl champions’ Week 16 matchup.

Though Mahomes is expected to play through his ankle injury, Texans defensive tackle Tim Settle used his time with the media to clarify that Houston isn’t worried about facing the reigning Super Bowl MVP.

In an interview on Wednesday, Settle was asked about facing Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offensive line, and he had some interesting comments to make about Kansas CCity.

The fifth-round pick did not hold back when discussing Saturday’s game, saying:

“I don’t know if he [Mahomes] is playing or not, but I hope he’s mobile enough cause we coming at Arrowhead.”

Take a look at Settle’s interview, which was posted by user @sidelinesarah on Twitter:

Though the Chiefs’ offensive line has struggled to keep Mahomes upright in recent weeks, Settle’s confidence may be misplaced, given the two-time MVP’s 2-1 record against Houston in his career.

Bills free agent Tim Settle signs with Texans

Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Buffalo Bills free-agent defensive tackle Tim Settle will be signing with the Houston Texans.

The Buffalo Bills have had to make plenty of moves this offseason to get under the salary cap for the 2024 NFL league year and that came with some tough decisions on impactful players. One of Buffalo’s run-stuffing defensive tackles became a free-agent this offseason, but he did not go back to the Bills.

Per KPRC 2 Houston, Bills DT Tim Settle will be signing a two-year deal with the Houston Texans:

Settle, who visited the Texans earlier in the week after Houston lost some of their interior defensive lineman depth and came to terms on a two-year contract with a max value of $7 million.

Settle, 26, spent the past two seasons with Buffalo after signing with the Bills in free agency in March 2022, almost two years to the day. In two seasons with Buffalo, Settled played in 32 games (four starts) and piled up 33 tackles (20 solo), five tackles for losses, two sacks and four quarterback hits.

The Bills are still in good shape on the interior of their defensive line as they still have Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones to man the middle. Settle will be joining a Texans team that is making some big moves to build the tea around budding quarterback CJ Stroud.

6 players the Bills should let walk in free agency this offseason

6 players the #Bills should let walk in free agency this offseason:

The Buffalo Bills will not re-sign all of their pending free agents this offseason.

It’s true, and for a variety of reasons. The team could want to upgrade. In other cases, whether it might be because of the money or roster size, it doesn’t make much sense for the Bills to keep certain faces around anymore.

Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane and his front office team will be in charge of making those decisions, but we have some ideas for him.

Here are six free agents the Bills should let walk this offseason:

Who will stay and who will go?

As another season of Buffalo Bills football has come to an end, so have another series of contracts that have been signed.

Whether it be grizzled veterans or players seeing the end of their rookie contracts, there are plenty of faces who will not long be under contract in Buffalo in March when free agency opens.

The Bills have plenty of time until then to sign players to extensions, but it’s never so cut-and-dry. According to Over The Cap, Buffalo is estimated to be $49 million over the 2024 NFL salary cap.

Moves must be made and general manager Brandon Beane will earn his own salary with the decisions ahead.

WATCH: Bills celebrations walking off the field after Chiefs win

#Bills excitement:

A “big dub” was on the mind of many Bills players on Sunday afternoon after beating the Chiefs.

Following the Bills’ 20-17 win, players wore their emotions on their sleeve… and at the top of their lungs. Buffalo’s team expressed their thoughts after the victory by screaming the “big dubs” phrase at the team camera in the tunnel at Arrowhead Stadium.

And, uh, it’s quite the screengrab the team managed to use in the clip, featuring cornerback Taron Johnson.
