Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands trailer released at The Game Awards 2021

A new trailer for Gearbox Software’s Borderlands spinoff, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, has dropped.

Get ready for a rollicking good time as a new trailer for Gearbox Software’s Borderlands spinoff, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, has dropped during The Game Awards 2021.

A spiritual successor to Borderlands 2’s Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep DLC from 2013, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will take players through a fantasy-themed tabletop RPG with Tiny Tina herself as the game’s dungeon master. Though a fantasy world may be the backdrop of this story, players will have a full arsenal of guns to play around with — and other melee weapons — as you face off against the Dragon Lord and his minions.

Thursday’s trailer for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands gives players just a taste of what is in store for them in this whimsical, magical world conjured from the mind of Tiny Tina.

Borderlands fans — and tabletop RPG enthusiasts — won’t have to wait too much longer for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, as it is set to release on March 25, 2022. Gearbox’s latest game will be available to play on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League gets gameplay first look trailer at The Game Awards 2021

Here’s some hot gameplay for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League!

RockSteady Studios has finally given us our first look at gameplay for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League at The Game Awards 2021.

Set in a sprawling Metropolis, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League puts players in the shoes of playable characters Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark as the team is tasked with taking down The Justice League. Kill the Justice League will be a continuation of RockSteady’s popular Batman: Arkham series and is set to take full advantage of the current generation hardware in the Xbox Series X/S and PS5, alongside PC.

Thursday’s trailer for Kill the Justice League showcased the game’s hybrid of action-adventure gameplay alongside shooter elements that help make up the combat. Kill the Justice League can be played as a single-player experience — with the ability to swap seamlessly between the four playable characters — or as a multiplayer co-op campaign with friends.

Sadly, RockSteady Studios did not announce an official release date for Kill the Justice League, which is still set for a 2022 release window. Fans can get their hands on Kill the Justice League on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Get ready for more bow-slinging action with this new trailer for Horizon Forbidden West

Aloy’s adventures continue in this new trailer for Horizon Forbidden West.

Aloy’s adventures into the apocalyptic unknown will continue in Guerrilla Games’ next installment in the franchise, Horizon Forbidden West, which got a trailer at The Game Awards 2021 on Thursday.

It’s been some time since we’ve seen an extended look at Horizon Forbidden West after Sony’s State of Play over the summer. Fans have gotten interesting lore and gameplay snippets in the months since, from robots which will chase you underwater to new traversal options in a grappling hook, which all look to be wonderful upgrades off of Horizon Zero Dawn‘s already fun gameplay.

In this new trailer, Guerrilla Games has showcased all the ways you’ll be able to use their new traversal mechanics while fighting robots. Oh, and some new outfits for Aloy too!

Horizon Forbidden West will be cross-platform between the PS4 and PS5, which will now be a free upgrade to the PS5 version for anyone who owns a copy of the game from the previous generation after some pushback. Fans can get their hands on Horizon Forbidden West on February 18, 2022.

Here’s our first look at Idris Elba as Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2

You mean these Chaos Emeralds?

Everyone’s favorite blue hedgehog is back in this new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which dropped during Thursday evening’s The Game Awards 2021.

Featuring heavily in this first proper look at the sequel to the beloved 2020 film Sonic the Hedgehog — which yes, still feels weird to say — is the movie’s all-star cast. James Marsden, Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey all will reprise their original roles from the first film, while fans got their first look at Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna alongside the return of Colleen O’Shaughnessey to her iconic role as Tails.

And if the trailer is anything to go by, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 promises more fun, chaos and Carrey chewing even more scenery than he did in the first film as Doctor Eggman.

Though Sonic’s original design was criticized heavily by fans, Paramount Pictures delayed the original 2020 film and went back to the drawing board to get it right. Since, Sonic the Hedgehog has been praised by fans and critics alike. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will make its way to theaters on April 8, 2022.

Star Wars Eclipse in early development from developer Quantic Dream

A new Star Wars game!

Star Wars fans got a nice surprise during The Game Awards 2021 with the announcement of Star Wars Eclipse from developer Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games.

From the developer of Detroit: Become Human and Beyond: Two Souls comes a Star Wars game set in the High Republic era, the age before the prequels are set. Star Wars Eclipse is in early development, so not much is known about the game otherwise outside of what the dramatic cinematic first look trailer has shown us.

Speaking of trailers, here’s our official first look at what Quantic Dream has cooked up with Star Wars Eclipse.

Also of note, Quantic Dream has stated that Star Wars Eclipse will be “an intricately branching action-adventure game that can be experienced in many ways, and puts the destinies of multiple playable characters in your hands.” Seems neat!

This story is developing…

The Alternate Game Awards 2021 – stupid awards for a daft industry

The Game Awards are great, but what about the games, people and moments outside of the obvious categories?

The Game Awards are fantastic and it’s nice to know who made the best RPG or whatever else each year. Almost as nice as the shiny new trailers and upcoming game reveals. Almost as nice as the Hideo Kojima cameos. Almost.

But what about the unsung heroes and villains – the games, people and moments that defined 2021 outside of the obvious categories? We’ve got you covered with the Alternate Game Awards 2021.

Without further ado, here are this year’s winners.

Halo Infinite wins Player’s Voice at The Game Awards

The gamers have spoken!

The gamers have voted and Halo Infinite has officially been crowned as the victor of the Player’s Voice category at The Game Awards 2021, winning out over Forza Horizon 5, Resident Evil Village, Metroid Dread and It Takes Two.

While Resident Evil Village, Metroid Dread and It Takes Two were also nominated for the official Game of the Year award, Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite both missed the cut. The primary reason for this is likely that the majority of critics who participated in the initial round of voting for GOTY had to submit their ballots prior to having played these games. On that note, it’s pertinent to point out that Halo Infinite won the award just one day after its campaign launch, which is a pretty impressive feat.

Still, Infinite isn’t nominated for the main Game of the Year category, which is rounded out by Deathloop, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Psychonauts 2. All three of these games were knocked out in round two of Player’s Voice voting alongside Fortnite and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Halo Infinite follows in the footsteps of last year’s Player’s Voice winner, Ghost of Tsushima, which prevailed over Doom Eternal, Hades, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and The Last of Us Part II

If you still haven’t set aside time to play Halo Infinite and want to change that, both its campaign and multiplayer components are currently available free of charge for all Game Pass subscribers on PC and Xbox Series X/S.

Ahead of tonight’s Game Awards, we spoke to presenter Geoff Keighley about what people should expect to see. Check it out at that link.

Sting will perform League of Legends music at The Game Awards

Yes, that Sting.

Sting, the 17-time Grammy Award-winning artist, will perform live at  The Game Awards.

Since the show is (obviously) celebrating the video game industry as a whole, Sting will play “What Could Have Been” from Arcane: League of Legends — a song from the show’s original soundtrack. The reception to Arcane  has been quite glowing, which undoubtedly led to  Netflix renewing it for a second season

If you’re curious to check out Sting belt at the top of his lungs, The Game Awards are streaming live on  TwitchYouTubeFacebook  and  Twitter  on Dec. 9 at 8:00 P.M. EDT / 5:00 P.M. PDT. Maybe Kyle Maclachlan will show up and they’ll finally settle things after all the fisticuffs that went down in David Lynch’s Dune. Make it happen, Keighley!

Be it League of Legends  crossovers with FortniteAmong Us  or its  own stable of games, Riot has gone all-out promoting Arcane the past few weeks. The studio also recently released Ruined King: a League of Legends  Story, which anyone that’s fallen for Arcane  should give a chance

Here are the 2021 Game Awards nominees

Deathloop, Metroid Dead and Resident Evil Village are up for nominations.

The nominees for the 2021 Game Awards were revealed on Tuesday.

Yes, Geoff Keighley’s annual gaming shindig is back on Dec. 9 for all of us to bear witness to dozens of world premiere trailers and perhaps an actual award acceptance speech or two. At over 30 awards at this year’s show, one would certainly hope so!

Snark aside, there’s a pretty extensive category list this year. The usual stuff like Best Game Direction and overall Game of the Year are there, of course. However, there are some rather interesting inclusions like Best Community Support, Innovation In Accessibility and Best Family this year as well.

Keighley also jumped on camera for a quick nominations rundown which you can check out below.

At five nominees or so per category, the 2021 Game Awards looks to be a huge show. As always, voting for your favorites can be done here. Before that, let’s take a quick look at some of the categories below!
