Check out the new uniforms Carmen’s Crew is wearing for TBT

It’s about time to root on your favorite Ohio State alumni team in this year’s version of The Basketball Tournament. Here’s how to find the game.

The Ohio State alumni team took the floor at 9 p.m. Friday as Carmen’s Crew tipped off The Basketball Tournament. They were given a No. 1 seed and will be taking on the No. 16 seed Mid American Unity comprised of mostly former MAC conference players tonight on ESPN.

When Carmen’s Crew exited the locker room, they were wearing some new threads and I must say, they look simple and clean. Puma has designed these scarlet and gray beauties, complete with the letter “m” crossed out. Yes, we’ve seen this before on TBT uniforms past, but it never gets old.

Even though Michigan doesn’t have a team in the tournament it’s always in fashion to take shots at the Wolverines. This rivalry never sleeps and that’s what makes it the greatest rivalry in all of sports.

At any rate, Carmen’s Crew is going to look sharp when they take the floor throughout the entire tournament. After an opening round defeat in last year’s TBT, you can bet the former Buckeyes won’t be taking anyone for granted this year.

HOW TO WATCH: Carmen’s Crew opening round game

It’s about time to root on your favorite Ohio State alumni team in this year’s version of The Basketball Tournament. Here’s how to find the game.

It’s just about that time Buckeye basketball fans. Carmen’s Crew will lace ’em up and tip off a run at a second championship in three years on Friday night.

Carmen’s Crew is made up of former Ohio State basketball players including all-time favorites like Aaron Craft and Jon Deibler. After winning the TBT in 2019, the Buckeye alumni were bounced in the first round of last year’s tournament.

Jared Sullinger, who is the acting GM and head coach, says the team found out last year that they are now the hunted and not necessarily the hunters. And it’s that motivation that’s keeping Carmen’s Crew hungry and motivated.

If you’d like to see the guys in action, you can grab your tickets online at The TBT website or Ticketmaster and head to the Corvelli Center in Columbus. If you can’t make it to the game, here’s all the information you need to watch the game.

How to Watch:

Former Ohio State guard C.J. Walker to play in TBT, but not with team you think

Umm, what’s the deal here? Say it ain’t so C.J.

It looks like there will be another former Ohio State basketball player taking part in the winner-take-all basketball tournament known as … wait for it … The Basketball Tournament. You know it well. The Buckeye alumni squad Carmen’s Crew won the whole thing in 2019 but stubbed its tow last summer in the first round. The squad is back for another run at glory with much of the same nucleus it’s had before.

Now, it appears another former OSU player of recent feats of athletic endeavors is getting into the mix in the TBT, but not for Carmen’s Crew. According to an announcement on Twitter, OSU’s point guard from the last couple of seasons, C.J. Walker, is in the fold to play with Dayton’s alumni team, the Red Scare.

Walker isn’t the only former Ohio State player moonlighting for the Red Scare. He joins Trevor Thompson and Jordan Siebert (who transferred to Dayton). Dayton and Columbus are only about 70 miles apart so maybe there was some confusion.

Either way, we’ll root for any former Buckeye until they run up against Carmen’s Crew. And by the way, if the chalk holds, the two will meet in Columbus in the regional final at the Covelli Center as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds.

Sign me up for that.

Carmen’s Crew 2021 roster for TBT

Get a look at Carmen’s Crew Ohio State alumni squad before they tip things off at the end of the week.

The winner-take-all hoops competition known as The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is already off and running. The Ohio State alumni team known as Carmen’s Crew hasn’t tipped off yet, but it’ll all get going in Columbus in the Covelli Center this coming Friday vs. No. 16 seed Mid-American Unity. Carmen’s Crew will be the No. 1 seed in the region and look to make good on last year’s surprising first-round exit.

Carmen’s Crew has been in the TBT since 2017 and was originally known as Team Scarlet and Gray. It has a 12-3 all-time record and ran all the way to the championship in 2019. It’ll be the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament this year with hopes of returning to the winner’s circle.

The roster looks a little different than previous years, but the nucleus remains basically the same. We’ve put together a quick roster reference guide for you as you get ready to watch some summer basketball and root on some former Buckeye greats.

War Ready gets blown out in opening round of TBT against ETSU alumni

The group of former Auburn alumni had a rough go in the TBT on Sunday.

Well, that was fun while it lasted.

War Ready, a team full of Auburn alumni, lost 50-77 on Sunday afternoon against the Bucketeers, a group of ETSU alumni.

War Ready shot a poor 30% from the field, as well as 18% from deep. Laron Smith led the team with 12 points. Tray Boyd made five of the Bucketeers 13 shots from deep. Boyd finished with 21 points.

Bryce Brown, arguably War Ready’s best shooter, was not available for Sunday’s game. Neither was Desean Murray.

This was War Ready’s second year in the TBT. They lost in humiliating fashion in last year’s opening round to House of Paign 53-76. They are now a collective 0-2 in the TBT.

LOOK: Jon Diebler to participate in TBT’s ’33-point contest’

I mean, he’s got a shot to win this thing right?

OK, stay with us here.

It looks like former Ohio State sharpshooter Jon Diebler will be representing Carmen’s Crew in TBT’s “33-point” contest. What it really is, of course, is a 3-point shooting contest but true to form, The Basketball Tournament is trying to bust through the norms.

To stay with the theme of 33, Diebler will be wearing the No. 33 for a chance to win $33,333. We haven’t heard if there will be 33 fans watching from 33 feet away, but you get the idea.

It also looks like Ohio State basketball fan favorite Aaron Craft will be rebounding for Three-bler, and don’t underestimate how important it is to have a guy corral the passes and kick them out to the right spot.

In case you want to watch Diebler bomb away, you can tune into ESPN on August 1 at 2 p.m. and see it all go down. You have to believe he’s got a shot to show out in this event.

Kaleb Wesson decides not to play for Carmen’s Crew

Can’t blame Wesson for this move at all. Good luck to the former OSU big man!

The Basketball Tournament is just around the corner, but rosters are hardly ever set for the winner-take-all annual tournament that the Ohio State alumni team known as Carmen’s Crew showcases itself in. In fact, two bits of roster news became available on Thursday.

First, we reported that the team added former Buckeye forward Kosta Koufos to the mix. His game should mix well in tournament play with his size and ability to shoot the ball. But, in addition to that, team manager Jared Sullinger announced on Twitter that former OSU big man Kaleb Wesson will not play with the team because of an opportunity he has been provided to play in the NBA Summer League.

This comes just a couple of months after Wesson’s addition to the roster was announced. But hey, you certainly can’t blame a guy who’s trying to get his career off the ground to take an opportunity to play against NBA competition.

Wesson would have been a great addition to the team because of his ability to body up in the post and provide some offense on the blocks. That now will be left to returning guys like Jeff Gibbs and Evan Ravenel, in combination with newcomer Julian Mavunga.

Carmen’s Crew is set to begin the next TBT journey on Friday, July 23, at the Covelli Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.

Former Ohio State forward Kosta Koufos added to Carmen’s Crew roster

Another addition to Carmen’s Crew. Tell us what you remember about Koufos’ career at Ohio State.

We are just a few weeks away from the highly entertaining winner-take-a-boatload of cash event called The Basketball Tournament. And with it, you’ll be able to see your favorite Ohio State basketball alumni squad better known as “Carmen’s Crew.”

We already know the schedule, venue, and most of the roster makeup so close to all the fun tipping off, but today Carmen’s Crew announced another addition to the roster, former Buckeye basketball player Kosta Koufos.

Koufus was expected to do big things in Columbus. He was a five-star prospect that was part a No. 4 ranked recruiting class in 2007 according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was joined by the likes of Jon Diebler and Evan Turner in the class.

But things didn’t quite go according to plan for the team during the 2007-2008 season. Koufos was productive enough — averaging 14.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and a 50.8 field goal percentage — but the team failed to make the NCAA Tournament and instead settled for the NIT where it made a run all the way to the title.

And that would be the only year we got to see Koufus in the scarlet and gray. He would enter his name in the 2008 NBA draft and wind up being selected by the Utah Jazz as the No. 23 overall pick in the first round.

Since then, Koufos has bounced around quite a bit. He’s seen some time in the NBA with the Jazz, Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, and Sacramento Kings, but never really caught on consistently. He most recently played for CSKA Moscow during the 2019-2020 seasons.

Now, he’ll be a part of another run for all the money with Carmen’s Crew.

TBT Bracket announced. Look at Carmen’s Crew’s path.

The 2021 TBT (The Basketball Tournament) bracket was announced on Monday. Here’s what Carmen’s Crew’s path looks like starting in Columbus.

The official bracket for the 2021 TBT (The Basketball Tournament) was unveiled on Monday. And, if you’ll remember, Columbus is hosting a regional with the Ohio State alumni squad known as Carmen’s Crew as the main attraction.

The games in the Columbus region are set to take place between July 23 through 27. Carmen’s Crew will get its journey started against No. 16 seed Mid-America Unity which is comprised of players from — as you guessed — the MAC. That game is set for a 9 p.m tip in the Covelli Center on July 23.

If Carmen’s Crew gets past Mid-America Unity, its next game will be against the winner of the Purdue Alumni team known as Men of Mackey, and the Tennessee alumni team named Ballinteers at 4 p.m on July 25. From there, teams will advance to the regional finals still in Columbus on July 27 at 7 p.m.

After the regional finals, teams that advance will relocate to Dayton for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. The team that wins it all will take home $2 million.

We’re still waiting for any final additions to the team, but for now, the path is set.

VFLs to compete in The Basketball Tournament

Ballinteers to play in The Basketball Tournament.

The Ballinteers, a team comprised of former University of Tennessee men’s basketball players, will compete in The Basketball Tournament, a 64-team bracket format with a $1 million winner-take-all prize.

The team was organized by former Vol Bobby Maze. VFL Ron Slay will serve as head coach.

The Ballinteers are tabbed as a No. 9 seed in the tournament’s Columbus Regional, which will be contested at Ohio State’s Covelli Center July 23-27.

Ballinteers will open tournament play against the eighth-seeded Men of Mackey, a squad made up of former Purdue players.

Tipoff for the tournament opener is slated for July 23 at 7 p.m. EDT.

Players for the Ballinteers include Jordan Bowden, Wayne Chism, Duke Crews, John Fields, Chris Lofton, J.P. Prince, JaJuan Smith, Tyler Smith, Cameron Tatum and Lamonte Turner.

Tournament games will be televised on the ESPN family of networks with broadcast arrangements pending.
