Eastern Washington at Texas Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Eastern Washington at Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Eastern Washington Eagles (4-6) and Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-2) are lined up for a tussle in Lubbock Tuesday. Tip time at United Supermarkets Arena will be at 8 p.m. ET (Big 12 Network/ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Eastern Washington vs. Texas Tech odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Eastern Washington almost took down then-No. 22 San Diego State Saturday despite being an 8.5-point underdog in a 77-76 loss. The Eagles put on a rebounding exhibition, allowing just 1 Aztec board on the offensive glass. EWU is 2-1 straight up and 3-0 against the spread in December.

The Red Raiders last played Wednesday, failing to cover as 21.5-point favorites in a 78-71 victory over Nicholls State. Freshman G Pop Isaacs found twine on 5 triples in that game, and he tallied a season-high 24 points. Isaacs and TTU are 0-3 ATS over their last 3 games.

Eastern Washington at Texas Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 74, Eastern Washington 60

Moneyline

Texas Tech (-1700) is almost certainly the correct side, but there’s no value here.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Eagles are 23-5 ATS in their last 28 road games vs. teams with a winning home record. The Red Raiders are 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight-up win.

Texas Tech’s recent performances have been uneven. Overall, the Raiders have relied a bit too much on some hot shooting nights and they are turnover prone enough that a little regression gets twice the effect on output.

The Eagles launch it frequently from 3-point range. They are not a top-notch distance shooting team but are rounding into form of late. Enough so to up the odds of a back-door cover on this figure.

TAKE EASTERN WASHINGTON +16.5 (-105).

Over/Under

Considering this a well-made total. PASS.

Georgetown at Texas Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Georgetown at Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Georgetown Hoyas (4-3) and the Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-2) meet Wednesday at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (Big 12 Network/ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Georgetown vs. Texas Tech odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Hoyas have had a difficult time lately, winning just 2 of the past 5 games overall, with losses to Northwestern (Nov. 15), Loyola Marymount on a neutral floor (Nov. 18) and American (last Wednesday). Overall, the Hoyas are 2-4 ATS in their 6 games with a spread this season.

The Red Raiders are looking to take out their frustrations on the skidding Hoyas after suffering an 80-73 loss last time out against Ohio State on a neutral floor last Wednesday. Texas Tech has dropped 2 of the past 3 outings and is just 2-4 ATS overall.

Georgetown at Texas Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 75, Georgetown 60

Moneyline

Texas Tech (-1800) is the right side here, but there’s no value in betting 18 times your potential return on the moneyline. PASS.

Against the spread

GEORGETOWN +17.5 (-115) is the lean here, as Texas Tech just hasn’t flexed its muscle on offense this season.

The Red Raiders have a lockdown defense, yielding just 58.7 PPG, but this team is also 228th in the nation on offense, going for just 70.5 PPG. It is especially poor from behind the 3-point line, hitting at just 33.0% to rank 219th overall.

Texas Tech has scored 73 or fewer points in 5 of its 6 games overall, including 2 of 3 at home. That will hold it back from covering a big number against Georgetown.

Over/Under

UNDER 137.5 (-110) is the lean, based mostly on the struggling offense of Georgetown, and the suffocating defense of Texas Tech.

The Under has cashed in all 3 home games for the Red Raiders this season, as they have allowed 55 or fewer points in each outing.

The Under has cashed in 4 straight games overall for the Hoyas, and it has scored 70 or fewer points in 4 of its past 5 games overall.

Texas Southern at Texas Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Texas Southern at Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Texas Southern Tigers (0-1) travel to Lubbock to take on the No. 24 Texas Tech Red Raiders (1-0) Thursday. Tip-off from United Supermarkets Arena is at 8 p.m. (Big 12 Network/ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Texas Southern vs. Texas Tech odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Texas Tech defeated Northwestern State 73-49 Monday in its season opener. Texas Southern is coming off a 90-77 loss at San Francisco Monday.

The Red Raiders look to cement a place in the upper echelon of the Big 12 while also continuing their recent dominance on defense. This will be a low-scoring defensive game and the Red Raiders are not sure to be hospitable hosts in this matchup.

Texas Southern at Texas Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 72, Texas Southern 48

Moneyline

PASS.

Neither side is worth a play on the ML in this game.

Against the spread

BET TEXAS TECH -18.5 (-110).

Texas Tech won its opener against Northwestern State by 24 points but failed to cover the 28-point spread, but that would be enough to cover this game.

The Red Raiders defense was able to shut down its opponent, allowing just 49 points. The same type of clamp will be put on the Tigers. I do not see Texas Tech getting to 80, but I do not see Texas Southern even getting to 60. So, give me TEXAS TECH -18.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 136.5 (-105).

There are certain teams that you want to blindly bet on the Under. Texas Tech is one of those teams.

The Red Raiders had a total of 141.5 in their opener and it went Under by 19.5 points. The market has not yet caught up to Texas Tech. Until it does, take Unders in its games. Thursday’s UNDER 136.5 (-105) is my FAVORITE PLAY.

Texas Tech at TCU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas Tech at TCU odds and lines, with college football expert picks and predictions.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-4, 2-3 Big 12) and the 7th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs (8-0, 5-0) meet in a Saturday conference contest. Kickoff at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth is scheduled for noon ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Texas Tech vs. TCU odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Texas Tech lost at home to Baylor 45-17 last Saturday. The Red Raiders completed just 7 more passes (12) than they had intercepted (5) in losing for the 3rd time in their last 4 games. TTU’s 17 points marked its fewest in a home game against an unranked team since Dec. 5, 2020.

Texas Christian — No. 7 in the College Football Playoff rankings — won at West Virginia last Saturday to remain unbeaten. TCU covered a 7-point spread with a 41-31 victory. Senior QB Max Duggan threw for 341 yards and 3 scores and has now thrown for 3-or-more TDs in 6 of his last 7 games.

Texas Tech at TCU picks and predictions

Prediction

TCU 35, Texas Tech 24

Moneyline

TCU defeated TTU 52-31 last season (Oct. 9, 2021) and has won 3 straight games in the series.

The Frogs are fighting for CFP respect, and they have to have this game at home. But the -320 ML price carries too much of a premium. PASS.

Against the spread

Duggan leads the better passing attack in this matchup. And TCU also has more balance on offense.

The Raiders are looser in yielding more havoc plays, and that could well figure into some field-position tilt for an already more-talented Frogs roster.

TAKE TCU -8.5 (-108).

Over/Under

Both teams sport defensive success-rate analytics better than their surface points- and yardage-allowed figures. Texas Tech has done very well in keeping a lid on the end zone in red-zone stands.

BACK UNDER 69 (-108).

Texas Tech at Kansas State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas Tech at Kansas State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (3-1, 1-0 Big 12) and the Kansas State Wildcats (3-1, 1-0) meet Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kan. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET (Big 12 Network | ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Texas Tech vs. Kansas State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Red Raiders scored a solid 37-34 overtime victory at home over Texas last week as 7-point underdogs as the Over cashed. It was a nice rebound game after losing at NC State in the week prior.

The Wildcats also bounced back in a big way last weekend. After a disappointing 17-10 home loss to Tulane, K-State hit the road and upset a then top-10 Oklahoma team 41-34, cashing as a 13.5-point underdog as the Over hit.

Texas Tech at Kansas State picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 29, Kansas State 26

Money line

TEXAS TECH (+250) is worth a roll of the dice here. Even though they are moderate underdogs, the Red Raiders never go away quietly. In 2 of 3 games against FBS opponents, the game has gone to overtime and been decided by just 3 points. The Red Raiders have had a flare for the dramatic so far in 2022.

While Kansas State scored the huge upset last time out in Oklahoma, in its most recent game at home the Wildcats had that disappointing loss to Tulane. It is anything but a consistent group this season.

Against the spread

TEXAS TECH +7.5 (-110) is a strong play if you’re not quite feeling it straight up. The Red Raiders are just 1-6-1 ATS in their past 8 games after a cover in the previous week, so there is some risk here. Of course, K-State is 3-8 ATS in its last 11 following an ATS win, too, so the risk is mitigated somewhat.

While Texas Tech has struggled in this series against the number, the underdog is 5-0-1 ATS in the past 6 meetings.

Over/Under

The UNDER 56.5 (-107) is worth playing lightly.

The Over is 13-6-2 in the past 21 against winning teams for Texas Tech, but the Under is 4-1 in its past five on the road. The Under is also 3-0-1 in the previous four meetings in this series.

K-State’s recent history solidly points to the Under. The Under is 4-1 in the past 5 contests at BSFS, 8-3 in its last 11 games overall and 5-2 in its previous 7 inside the Big 12.

Texas at Texas Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas at Texas Tech odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 19 Texas Longhorns (2-1) take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders (2-1) Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Texas vs. Texas Tech odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Longhorns beat UTSA last week 41-20 largely in part to RB Bijan Robinson, who carried the ball 20 times for 183 yards and 3 touchdowns. QB Hudson Card completed 15 of 23 passes for 161 yards and a TD, while the Texas offense finished with 459 total yards. The Longhorns are still without star QB Quinn Ewers (shoulder) and will continue to lean on Robinson moving forward.

Texas Tech lost to NC State 27-14 last week. QB Donovan Smith struggled throwing 2 interceptions and only 1 TD, while accumulating 214 yards through the air on 21 completions of 36 attempts. He also had a rushing TD, but on 11 total carries, he had -9 yards.

The Red Raiders struggled on 3rd- and 4th-down conversions as well going 2-for-12 and 1-for-4, respectively. They will hope to clean up their play Saturday as they look for a big win over a talented Texas team.

Texas at Texas Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 31, Texas Tech 21

Money line

Texas (-270) will win.

It is clear that without Ewers, the Longhorns are putting more emphasis on the run game with Robinson, and he has shown no signs of slowing down with all eyes on him. Plus, Card has stepped up well under center, but I can’t justify suggesting a play with so much juice.

Against the spread

TEXAS -7.5 (-103) is the play.

The Longhorns are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings at the Red Raiders. Robinson will prove to be too much for the Tech defense.

Over/Under

TAKE UNDER 60.5 (-105).

This is a Texas defense that held Alabama to only 20 points. With a focus on the running game, the Longhorns will look to largely control possession. Their Under is 4-0 in their last 4 away games and 4-0 in their last 4 away games against a team with a winning home record.

Houston at Texas Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Houston at Texas Tech odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Houston Cougars (1-0) and Texas Tech Red Raiders (1-0) meet Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Houston vs. Texas Tech odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Cougars won a wild 37-35 game in 3OT on the road against UTSA in their opener, just missing the cover while the Over easily connected. QB Clayton Tune threw for 3 TDs and added another on the ground.

The Red Raiders had a much easier time with Murray State of the FCS, racking up a 63-10 win and cover as the Over cashed.

The win didn’t come without a price, however, as starting QB Tyler Shough was knocked out of the game in the 2nd quarter due to injury. He was spotted in a sling on the sidelines, and it was reported he will miss 3-6 weeks due to a collarbone injury. He suffered a similar injury last season against Texas.

QB Donovan Smith is expected to take the reins of the offense. He entered last week’s game and threw for 221 yards and 4 TDs.

Houston at Texas Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Houston 40, Texas Tech 35

Money line

HOUSTON (+145) found a way to get it done on the road against an in-state opponent to kick off the season. It will have to do that again, and the Cougars should be a good play since they didn’t suffer any major injuries in the opener.

Texas Tech would’ve been an attractive play at home, but there are doubts after losing the starting quarterback in the opener. Smith was sharp against Murray State, but it remains to be seen if he can be nearly as effective against one of the top Group of 5 teams in the nation.

Against the spread

HOUSTON +3.5 (-112) is catching three and a hook, but I don’t think you’ll need the points. The Cougars were a 12-win team last season, and they understand how to win not only at home but also on the road when facing adversity. This is a good measuring stick game for Houston, and I think they’ll measure up well.

It is a much better value on the money line, however.

Over/Under

OVER 62.5 (-110) looks like the best play on the board. Both of these sides were impressive on offense last week, and Houston’s defense allowed plenty of big plays under the dome in San Antonio.

Even with a backup QB, the Red Raiders should be able to move the ball down the field and make things happen to keep it close.

This game looks like another Houston track meet, with the Cougars coming out slightly ahead.

March Madness: Texas Tech vs. Duke odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Texas Tech vs. Duke odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions, best bets.

The No. 3 seed Texas Tech Red Raiders (27-9) and the No. 2 seed Duke Blue Devils (30-6) meet Thursday for a West Region Sweet 16 game of the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off from Chase Center in San Francisco is scheduled for 9:39 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Texas Tech vs. Duke odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Red Raiders belted Montana State 97-62 in the opening game before sneaking by Notre Dame 59-53 in the second round. Texas Tech’s defense has allowed just 57.5 PPG in two NCAA Tournament games, even better than the team’s regular-season allowance of 60.2 PPG.

The Blue Devils snapped an 0-5 against the spread (ATS) skid with an impressive 85-76 win and cover against Michigan State in the second round. The Over is 4-1 in five postseason games for Duke, while going 9-2 across its last 11 games overall.

Texas Tech vs. Duke odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 72, Texas Tech 68

Money line

DUKE (-105) is looking to continue the career of legendary Coach Mike Krzyzewski, and the Blue Devils find themselves as short ‘dogs in Frisco. The Texas Tech is stout defensively, but the Blue Devils have the offensive weapons with F Paolo Banchero and F Wendell Moore, Jr. to get it done and move along to the Elite 8.

Against the spread

DUKE +1.5 (-122) is a much better value on the money line unless you’re dead-set on thinking Texas Tech is going to win this game by 1 point.

Over/Under

The OVER 137.5 (-110) is the lean, ever so slightly.

The trends all point to the Under for the defensive-minded Red Raiders. The Under is 4-1 in their last five as favorites and 8-3 in their last 11 NCAA Tournament games.

However, the Blue Devils have cashed the Over in seven of their last eight games overall and in four straight as underdogs. I like the disrespect card here, as Duke gets the straight-up win, and enough offense to push this one Over the finish line.

March Madness: Notre Dame vs. Texas Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Notre Dame vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 11 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish (24-10) meet the third-seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders (26-9) Sunday in the second round of the West Region at the Viejas Arena. Tip-off in San Diego is set for 7:10 p.m. ET (on TBS). Below, we look at the Notre Dame vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Notre Dame tipped off West Region action by beating the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 89-87 in double overtime Wednesday in a First Four game. The Fighting Irish then went on to upset the No. 6 seed Alabama Crimson Tide in a 78-64 first-round blowout Friday as 4-point underdogs.

Texas Tech plastered the 14the-seeded Montana State Bobcats 97-62 in the first round, easily covering as a 14.5-point favorite. The Red Raiders are 12-2 straight up (SU) with a plus-21.5 margin of victory and 8-6 against the spread (ATS) this season in non-conference play.

The Red Raiders are No. 11 in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Notre Dame vs. Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 67, Notre Dame 63

Money line

PASS with a heavy “lean” toward Notre Dame (+270) since I like the Fighting Irish plus the points and, generally, will “sprinkle” on an underdog’s ML when betting it to cover the spread.

However, Texas Tech’s top-ranked defensive efficiency should be enough to earn a berth to the Sweet 16.

Against the spread

BET NOTRE DAME +7.5 (-105) for 1 unit.

Texas Tech doesn’t shoot it well enough to win by 7.5 points or more and it allows too many 3-point attempts.

For instance, the Red Raiders are 257th in 3-point shooting and 240th in free-throw shooting percentages at 32.3% and 69.8%, respectively. I have a tough time laying more than a touchdown with Texas Tech if it cannot put away teams at the foul line.

Furthermore, Notre Dame is eighth in 3-point percentage (38.3%) and Texas Tech is 66th in defensive 3-point shooting percentage (31.4%) but ranks 305th in opponent’s 3-point attempt rate (24.3 per game).

The Fighting Irish are going to keep this close if the Red Raiders allow them to chuck 3-pointers. Also, a backdoor cover is wide open for a Notre Dame team that shoots it that well from the field.

NOTRE DAME +7.5 (-105) is my favorite wager in this game.

Over/Under

LEAN to the UNDER 132.5 (-115) because there’s a Pros versus Joe’s scenario in the betting market for the total and Notre Dame’s offense could be in serious trouble if it doesn’t knock down 3s.

According to Pregame.com, more than 70% of the cash is on the Under, while roughly 70% of the action is on the Over. Typically, in sports betting, it’s wise to follow the money especially when it’s counter to the public since the “sharps” wager a lot more dough than your average Joe.

Plus, both teams do a good job cleaning the glass on defense so there should be a lot of one-and-done possessions, Texas Tech ranks 25th in 2-point shooting percentage (55.5%) and both teams play at a below-average pace.

Notre Dame’s spread is my preferred play, but there’s some value on UNDER 132.5 (-115).

March Madness: Montana State vs. Texas Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Montana State vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The 14th-seeded Montana State Bobcats (27-7) play the No. 3 seed Texas Tech Red Raiders (25-9) Friday in the first round of the West Region. Tip-off at Viejas Arena in San Diego is set for 1:45 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we look at the Montana State vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Montana State won the Big Sky regular-season and tournament titles to earn a bracket bid for the first time since 1996. The Bobcats are 17-14-1 ATS with 124th-ranked adjusted net rating (per KenPom) and the 302nd-toughest schedule, according to USA TODAY’s Jeff Sagarin.

Texas Tech lost to the Kansas Jayhawks 74-65 in the Big 12 Tournament title game. The Red Raiders earned an at-large bid thanks to a 20-plus-win record in the nation’s toughest conference by winning percentage.

The Red Raiders are 21-13 ATS with KenPom’s ninth-best adjusted net rating and the 25th-toughest schedule, per Sagarin.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Montana State +14.5 (-105) | Texas Tech -14.5 (-120)

Montana State at Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 68, Montana State 58

Money line

PASS  because Texas Tech is obviously the right side but way too expensive at -1400. The Red Raiders have the second-best defensive rating in the country and have a lot more size and experience than Montana State.

Texas Tech’s ceiling is the Final Four whereas it would be a miracle if Montana State won this game.

Against the spread

LEAN to MONTANA STATE +14.5 (-105)  because this is a Pros vs. Joe’s game in the betting market and this could be a sandwich spot for Texas Tech.

According to Pregame.com, a slight majority of the cash is on Montana State but nearly 60% of the bets placed are on Texas Tech. Since the sharps wager far more money than your average Joe, it’s generally more profitable to follow the money when it’s counter to the public.

Also, this is Texas Tech’s fourth consecutive Big Dance, which includes a 2019 national championship loss to the Virginia Cavaliers, and the Red Raiders just lost its conference title game.  It wouldn’t be shocking for Texas Tech to start slow in a first-round game it expects to breeze through.

However, I only LEAN to MONTANA STATE +14.5 (-107)  because the Under is my favorite bet in this game.

Over/Under

BET the UNDER 131.5 (-107)  because Montana State hasn’t seen anything like this Texas Tech defense and the Red Raiders have a clunky offense. Texas Tech’s defense is in the top-25 of turnover rate, effective field goal shooting and rebounding rate.

Furthermore, the Red Raiders turn games into rock-fights. Texas Tech is 1-5 O/U in its last six neutral-site games as favorites and 0-4 O/U in the last four NCAA Tournament games as favorites.

On top of that, more than 80% of the cash is on the Over but this total hasn’t budged off the consensus opener (according to Pregame.com). It’s suspicious whenever oddsmakers don’t move a line that’s getting this heavily bet into.
