Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Texas lost back-to-back games before bouncing back with a 56-51 home win over Oklahoma State Saturday. The Big 12’s top defense with 54.9 points allowed per game held the Cowboys to a 37.5% mark from the field and just 12 trips to the free-throw line. The Longhorns now go on the road where they are just 1-4 this season.

Texas Christian has held foes to just a 36.4% field-goal mark in going 3-1 over its last four games. TCU allowed only 44 points in a win at Iowa State Saturday. The Horned Frogs’ only loss at home this season was Jan. 8 against then-No. 1 Baylor.

Texas at TCU odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 60, TCU 56

Money line

The Longhorns figure to have an edge offensively and in the turnover exchange. However, if profit was the floor, the -155 tag is out of bounds and in the third row of seats.

STEER CLEAR.

Against the spread

Texas has won and covered five straight meetings in this series straight-up and ATS. TCU is 12-25 ATS in home games over the last three years.

The Frogs are certainly on a nice trend line, but it’s difficult to buy into some recent results based on their schedule and what seems like some one-off shooting misfires by opponents.

Look for a veteran UT five to get better quality looks and for the visitors to post a two-possession win. TAKE TEXAS -2.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Under is 5-1 in the Longhorns’ last six games versus winning teams, is 4-0-1 in the Horned Frogs’ last five overall and is 5-2 across the last seven UT-TCU meetings.

Both sides play a slow-down style, and TCU’s pace has been on the decline of late. Respect the defense at both ends of the floor and TAKE THE UNDER 122.5 (-107).

Texas at TCU odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas Longhorns at TCU Horned Frogs odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

It’s an in-state showdown between the Texas Longhorns (3-1, 1-0 Big 12) and TCU Horned Frogs (2-2, 0-0) at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. Kickoff is set for Saturday at noon ET. Below, we look at the Texas at TCU odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Texas offense has been rolling with the exception of its Week 2 loss to now-No. 11 Arkansas. QB Casey Thompson has taken over the offense the last two games with great success (11.4 yards per attempt, 7/2 TD/INT ratio), while star RB Bijan Robinson leads a Longhorn rushing attack that ranks top 10 in yards per game this year.

Texas’ running game poses a major threat to a TCU defense, which has given up 181.3 rushing yards per game (99th in the nation). The Longhorns’ top-30 offense (6.9 yards per play) has scored 34+ points in every game thanks to RB Zach Evans averaging 7.9 yards per carry. The Horned Frogs are coming off a 42-34 loss to SMU last week as an 8-point favorites.

Texas at TCU odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 41, TCU 31

Money line

TCU has dominated this series lately, winning six of the last seven games. There’s nothing the Horned Frogs faithful would like more than to see another win or two before Texas heads to the SEC.

But Texas has been the much better team this year. We’ll PASS on the money line and look to target the Longhorns against the number for a better payout.

Against the spread

Texas is 3-1 against the spread and has blown the number away in each of its last two games (58-0 as a 26-point favorite vs. Rice and 70-35 as a 9-point favorite vs. Texas Tech).

TCU has yet to cover in any of its first three games.

Look for TEXAS -5.5 (-110) to buck this series’ recent trend, put up a bunch of points and win by more than a touchdown.

Over/Under

History might lead you to the Under here as the last nine games between these two have all been below 65.5. That was when TCU fielded a stout defense and Texas couldn’t score nearly as much as it has been in 2021.

The combination of Texas’ high-octane offense with TCU’s uncharacteristically poor defense makes this ripe for OVER 65.5 (-105).

Texas at TCU: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas 75, TCU 65

Money line (ML)

This is a game between two very different teams in terms of what is going to happen moving forward. Texas is expected to make the NCAA Tournament. TCU will pretty much only do that if it manages to get hot and win the Big 12 tournament. Having gone 5-10 in conference play, that seems unlikely.

Texas won big when the two teams played one another last month so don’t expect anything much different. Texas will win but with the line at -350, PASS in favor of the spread.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Neither team has been a good bet against the spread this season. Texas is 9-13-1 ATS and TCU is only 10-14 ATS.

TCU has covered the spread only twice in 12 home games this season and Texas is 4-3 ATS on the road. Take TEXAS -7.5 (-105).

Over/Under (O/U)

The two teams combined for 125 points in their February game. Texas is 14-9 O/U this season and has had the total go Over in 12 of its last 16 games.

Take OVER 137.5 POINTS (-110).
