5-star Texas receiver target Kaliq Lockett breaks down LSU

The Tigers are looking to add another five-star wideout to their 2025 class.

LSU already has one five-star receiver on board for the 2025 cycle in Dakorien Moore, the No. 1 wideout in the nation. Now, it’s pushing to land another five-star in the class.

Sachse, Texas, receiver [autotag]Kaliq Lockett[/autotag] has yet to release a list of his top schools, but LSU seems to be squarely in the mix as he has a visit to Baton Rouge planned for next month.

The Tigers are competing with a long list of top programs, including in-state schools like Texas, which is favored to land Lockett per On3. But they’re hoping to sway the No. 12 player in the 2025 class, and he had positive things to say about LSU recently.

“That is also wide receiver-U, it’s them and Ohio State,” he said, per On3. One of my favorite players, Odell Beckham, he was at LSU. I used to watch LSU a whole bunch back when he was there. Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, now seeing Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas over there, they were balling and had the No. 1 offense in the country. Coach (Cortez) Hankton, me and him have a great relationship.”

LSU’s 2025 class currently ranks first nationally and boasts commitments from the top quarterback, receiver and running back.

5-star LSU WR commit Dakorien Moore sets his next visit to Baton Rouge

The Tigers continue to try to shore things up with the No. 1 receiver in America.

The No. 1 receiver in America will be returning to Baton Rouge next month.

[autotag]Dakorien Moore[/autotag] is a five-star receiver from Duncanville, Texas, who committed to the Tigers last summer and has held firm on that commitment. However, he recently revealed that he’s still considering three other schools: Ohio State, Oregon and Texas.

As top teams try to flip Moore, LSU will continue to shore things up with him. It hosted him for a visit earlier this month, and he’s now set another trip for the weekend of LSU’s spring game in April, according to LSU Country’s Zack Nagy.

Moore also reportedly visited the Buckeyes earlier this week and will take a trip to Austin with the Longhorns the weekend after he’s in Baton Rouge.

Moore is a key piece in a 2025 class that ranks first nationally for the Tigers, but they will have to withstand some pressure from other top programs as we get closer to his signing day.

4-star LB Elijah Barnes to visit with LSU this weekend

The Tigers are hosting a top-100 prospect this weekend as they look to sway him from in-state Texas and others.

The Tigers continue to push for top prospects in the 2025 class, and they’ll be hosting one of its top linebackers for a visit this weekend.

Four-star Skyline (Dallas) linebacker [autotag]Elijah Barnes[/autotag] recently included LSU in his final 10 schools, and he’ll be on campus in Baton Rouge to check things out as the Tigers prepare to begin spring ball.

Barnes is a top-100 prospect according to 247Sports and ranks as a top-15 linebacker in the class. He holds no Crystal Ball projections at the moment, but the in-state Texas Longhorns are currently a heavy favorite to land his services according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

The Tigers will hope this weekend trip is able to sway him away from the Longhorns and some of his other suitors as they look to build on what could be the best class in the nation.

Recruiting prediction entered for five-star OT Michael Fasusi to Texas

Texas could land yet another five-star offensive tackle in the upcoming class.

Texas could be trending to land another five-star offensive lineman as it continues to build into an SEC competitor. And not just any five-star, but one who could end up a Top 10 player when all is said and done.

Inside Texas’ Eric Nahlin predicts Texas to bring in Lewisville (TX) offensive tackle Michael Fasusi. And while several ratings updates could be on the way over the coming months, the massive tackle ranks highly in On3’s industry ranking.

Fasusi ranks as the No. 11 overall player, No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 3 player in Texas for the 2025 recruiting class. That places the tackle solidly in the five-star category. Should he choose the Longhorns he would join Kelvin Banks, Devon Campbell Jr. and Brandon Baker as elite linemen who took their talents to Austin.

Like with any position, Texas would do well to keep its best players in state. Albeit, the tackle position is likely one of the more important priorities for the team.

On3’s recruiting prediction machine (RPM) seems to view Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Florida as Texas’ top competition. The RPM gives Texas a 86.1% chance to be Fasusi’s college choice with Oklahoma (4.6%), Texas A&M (3.0%) and Florida (1.7%) trailing for now.

The Longhorns have fared well in recruiting offensive linemen since head coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach Kyle Flood stepped foot on the Forty Acres. They’ll look to continue that trend in the 2025 recruiting class.

LSU joins Alabama, Florida State, Oregon, Ohio State, USC, Texas A&M, Nebraska, SMU and Texas in the final 10. [autotag]Elijah Barnes[/autotag] is a 6-foot-2, 225-pound, four-star linebacker from Dallas where he plays for Skyline High School. The Skyline Raiders finished the 2023 season 3-7 with a loss to Waxahachie in their last game of the season.

There are no Crystal Ball projections at this time for Barnes but Texas is a 90% favorite to land him per On3.LSU’s 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked as the No. 3 class in the country by 247Sports and the Tigers have one linebacker currently committed in that class. Four-star linebacker [autotag]Keylan Moses[/autotag] is the linebacker currently committed to LSU.

Adding Barnes with Moses could make a dangerous duo for LSU.

Texas receives RPM prediction for four-star RB Rickey Stewart Jr.

The Texas Longhorns trend for another big time running back.

The Texas Longhorns are trending to win out for another big-time player. Four-star running back Rickey Stewart Jr. was given a recruiting prediction machine nod (On3) from Inside Texas’ Justin Wells to Texas.

Stewart has been productive in the high school ranks. As a sophomore, the gifted runner ran for 2,262 yards and 18 touchdowns. He followed with 2,855 rushing yards and 40 rushing touchdowns as a junior in 2023 for the Chapel Hill Bulldogs in Tyler, Texas.

The Longhorns’ track record with running backs is growing after building a track record of developing top running backs over the last few seasons. After sending eighth pick Bijan Robinson and fellow ball carrier Roschon Johnson to the NFL, Jonathon Brooks is set to be the next Texas back to head to the pros.

The on-field product has made waves with top recruits in past cycles. Top recruits Jaydon Blue, Cedric Baxter Jr., Tre Wisner, Jerrick Gibson and Christian Clark headed to Austin to be a part of the loaded Texas running back room. Stewart could be the next.

Blue and Baxter have already made their mark in Austin; they combined for over 1,000 rushing yards last season. The two are set to be the focal point of the running back room in 2024.

The Texas running back room is set to be among the nation’s best for the foreseeable future. The Longhorns look to add Stewart to the running back room in the 2025 recruiting class.

LSU offers 2025 defensive lineman from Richmond, Texas

Houston is a 27% favorite to land Chace Sims per On3.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and his recruiting staff took a trip to Richmond, Texas, to extend an offer to a defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class. The Tigers will have to fight off Houston to land him.

[autotag]Chace Sims[/autotag] is a six-foot-three, 305-pound defensive lineman from Richmond, Texas, where he plays for Randle High School. The Randle Lions finished the 2023 season 11-2 with a loss to Huntsville in the third round of the 5A D2 playoffs.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Sims at this time but Houston is a 27% favorite to land him per On3.
