Michigan football adds two transfer portal DBs from SEC

Two-for-one! #GoBlue

Michigan football got something of a two-for-one special with its second and third transfer portal commitments of the 2025 cycle.

The Wolverines had previously only brought in one transfer portal commit in former Indiana wide receiver Donaven McCulley — who had visited in the immediate aftermath of the Ohio State game on Dec. 1. It took him nearly two weeks to make his decision, but the latest pledges came shortly after their weekend visit to Ann Arbor.

Arkansas had two defensive backs with wandering eyes, brothers who both play defensive back in T.J. Metcalf and Tevis Metcalf. Just one day after their visit to see what the maize and blue have to offer, both brothers committed in a joint announcement by On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Here is how T.J. Metcalf rated according to the recruiting services:

* Ovr Pos
247Sports 3 214 13
On3 4 83 7

And Tevis:

On3 3 57

The duo hails from Pinson (Ala.) Clay Chalkville, which happens to be the same high school as former Michigan football standout wide receiver Nico Collins.

Recruiting Roundup: 4 new players for Arkansas among weekend commitments

Nobody made out better than the Arkansas Razorbacks, who managed to add four new defensive recruits.

Power Five programs had an appetite for defense over the weekend, as most of the prospects who made their college commitments play on that side of the ball. LSU added another four-star safety to their collection and Clemson picked up another blue-chip DL. Meanwhile, Alabama and Oklahoma also added four-star prospects of their own.

Nebraska got the biggest name with former NFL running back Willis McGahee’s son. However, nobody made out better than the Arkansas Razorbacks, who managed to add four new recruits. Here’s a review of some notable weekend college commitments.

Auburn 2024 target chooses Arkansas over Tigers

The state of Alabama’s No. 39 player of the 2024 cycle chose Arkansas over Auburn and Colorado.

A top-40 player from the state of Alabama has made the decision to play alongside his brother at an out-of-state program.

Cornerback [autotag]Tevis Metcalf[/autotag], an Auburn target and Alabama native, has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Metcalf made the announcement via his personal Twitter on Saturday. His commitment ensures that he will play alongside his brother, T.J. Metcalf, who signed with Arkansas as a member of the 2023 class.

Metcalf is also a cousin of Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, who signed with Ole Miss as a member of [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag]’s final signing class in 2016.

The Pinson, Alabama native attends Parker High School.

Metcalf, a three-star recruit, is the No. 1,010 ranked player in the class of 2024 as well as the No. 82 ranked cornerback and the No. 39 ranked player in the state of Alabama per 247Sports.

Aside from Auburn, Metcalf chose the Razorbacks over programs such as Colorado, Arkansas State, Georgia Tech, Liberty, and Tulane.

Razorbacks land another defensive back, Tevis Metcalf

The Razorbacks’ secondary adds more depth with Tevis Metcalf announcing his verbal commitment on Saturday.

As the great DJ Khaled would say, “Another one.”

The Razorbacks’ secondary adds more depth with Tevis Metcalf announcing his verbal commitment on Saturday.

247 Sports lists Metcalf as a three-star athlete. The soon-to-be senior made his living as a defensive back playing for Paker high school in Pinson, Alabama. He chooses the Hogs over five power schools, Auburn, Georgia Tech, and the hottest school in the country, Colorado.

Football runs in his blood. His older brother, TJ Metcalf, is a freshman safety for the Razorbacks. Both brothers visited Fayetteville, Tevis joining his brother on most of them last year. Both brothers are cousins to NFL wide receiver DK Metcalf.

This is the ninth verbal commitment for the Hogs’ class of 2024, which is shaping up to be good, currently ranked 15th in the country and sixth in the SEC.

Colorado football recruiting: 2024 DB Tevis Metcalf announces top four schools

Colorado will have to beat out Auburn, Arkansas and Georgia Tech for Tevis Metcalf

The Colorado Buffaloes are facing some heavy competition for a number of top-tier recruits, including class of 2024 defensive back Tevis Metcalf.

Metcalf recently revealed his final four, and he has Colorado alongside Auburn, Arkansas and Georgia Tech, per his own Twitter page.

Metcalf is the cousin of Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf, so Hugh Freeze being at Auburn is familiar with that family after he coached the older cousin at Ole Miss.

With Cormani McClain and Travis Hunter leading the way, the Buffs’ secondary already looks dangerous and adding Tevis Metcalf would only help, although he has one more year of high school left before coming to play college football.

Metcalf plays high school football in Alabama, so staying in the area could make the Buffs the longshot here. However, the lure of playing for Deion Sanders and the new-look Buffs program has everybody’s attention.

Cornerback target Tevis Metcalf puts Auburn in top 4

The Tigers are building an impressive secondary class.

The Auburn Tigers have impressed three-star cornerback [autotag]Tevis Metcalf[/autotag] and on Friday he included them in his top four schools.

The Tigers will be battling Georgia Tech, Colorado, and Arkansas for the  Pinson Valley, Alabama product.

Metcalf has taken multiple visits to Auburn and is expected to be on the Plains for the A-Day game on Saturday. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder has some ties to [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag]. His cousin DK Metcalf was recruited by him at Ole Miss before becoming a star wide receiver in the NFL.

He is the No. 952 overall player and No. 78 cornerback in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 38 player from Alabama.

Auburn’s cornerback coach [autotag]Wesley McGriff[/autotag] is leading the charge for Metcalf with some help from safeties coach [autotag]Zac Etheridge[/autotag]. The duo has already landed two four-star cornerbacks for Auburn’s 2024 recruiting class in A’Mon Lane and Jayden Lewis.

2024 DB Tevis Metcalf scheduled to visit Alabama this weekend

2024 defensive back Tevis Metcalf will visit Alabama for Junior Day. He has not yet received an offer from the Alabama coaching staff.

The Alabama coaching staff has not extended an offer to 2024 defensive back Tevis Metcalf yet, but will host him for Junior Day this weekend.

Football runs in the Metcalf bloodline. Tevis’ older brother, TJ, is a freshman at Arkansas. His cousin, DK, starred at Ole Miss and plays wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks.

The youngest of the three is Tevis who has his share of offers. Schools like Auburn, Arkansas, and Colorado have already extended him offers to play for their program.

Although Alabama has not extended an official offer to Metcalf, one could be on the way. Nick Saban likes to visit and evaluate prospects in-person as opposed to on film. That is how he has recruited in the past at least.

Metcalf could receive an offer from Tide over the weekend. That is something to keep an eye on. In the past, Alabama landed five-star cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry, a product of Pinson Valley High School.

Cornerback Tevis Metcalf schedules return visit to Auburn

He has also scheduled visits to Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Colorado.

[autotag]Tevis Metcalf[/autotag] was in attendance for Auburn’s big Junior Day and is set to return to watch spring practice. The three-star cornerback prospect has scheduled a visit for Friday, March 3.

He is fresh off the Under Armour Next camp where he was named the MVP of the defensive backs and his stock is going up. The Tigers were one of the first schools to offer him, extending an offer back on Nov. 19, 2022.

The Birmingham, Alabama, native also announced visits to Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Arkansas, and Colorado.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder comes from quite an athletic family, he is the brother of 2023 Arkansas signee TJ Metcalf and the cousin of Seattle Seahawks star DK Metcalf.

Metcalf is ranked as the No. 81 cornerback by 247Sports. He is also the No. 61 player from Alabama.
