The Tennessee Volunteers (5-1, 2-1 SEC) and Alabama Crimson Tide (6-1, 4-0) meet Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Tennessee vs. Alabama odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

This is, essentially, an elimination game for both sides. It’s an elimination game for a potential College Football Playoff spot, and 2 SEC losses will likely end any hopes for a spot in the SEC Championship Game.

Tennessee has won 3 straight games since dropping a 29-16 decision at Florida on Sept. 16. It eased by Texas A&M by a 20-13 score as a 3-point favorite last time out, covering for the 3rd straight game. The Under is 3-1-1 in the past 5 games for the Vols.

Alabama won 24-21 against Arkansas last time out, although the Razorbacks easily covered a 19-point number to snap a 3-0 ATS run for Bama. After some early-season offensive struggles, the Tide has scored 24 or more points in 4 straight contests, and the Over is 2-0-1 in the past 3 tries.

Tennessee is No. 15 and Alabama is No. 8 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Tennessee at Alabama picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 29, Tennessee 24

Moneyline

Alabama (-350) will cost you 3½ times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward in what should be a very close game.

Last season, Tennessee (+260) picked up a wild 52-49 score, its most points in the history of this rivalry. Bama will have revenge on its mind, but this will be a tight game coming down to the very end, just like last season.

PASS.

Against the spread

TENNESSEE +8.5 (-110) is worth the play in this SEC Battle of the Titans, as it will keep this a 1-score game down in T-Town.

I was feeling good about Alabama -8.5 (-110) after impressive showings against Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Texas A&M on the road. However, Bama’s sluggish near-miss against Arkansas is a concern.

As a single-digit favorite, Alabama is 2-1 ATS this season, but that lone non-cover was an outright loss to Texas as a 7-point favorite.

Over/Under

OVER 48.5 (-105) is the lean, although we’re unlikely to have a combined 101 points like last season’s wild shootout at Neyland Stadium.

The Over is 2-0-1 in the past 3 games for Alabama, and it has scored 24 or more points in 4 straight contests. The defense hasn’t been as dominant as past years, either, allowing 19.3 PPG in the past 3 outings.

For Tennessee, it has rolled up 40 or points in 4 of 6 games to date, and it allowed 29 points in its lone true road game this season.

The Crimson Tide had a close shave against Arkansas on Saturday, edging the Razorbacks 24-21, as they didn’t come anywhere near covering a 19-point spread, while pushing on the total at most shops. The 52 points scored by the Vols marked the most ever in the series. The Tide has scored 45 or more points in 6 of the previous 7 meetings, while scoring 35 or more points in each of those 7 battles. Alabama has managed a 5-2 ATS mark in the past 7 battles, while the Over is also 5-2 during the 7-game span.

Tennessee at Alabama odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Tennessee Volunteers at Alabama Crimson Tide odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tennessee Volunteers (4-3, 2-2 SEC) travel to meet the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (6-1, 3-1 SEC) Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Tennessee vs. Alabama odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Volunteers were upended at home as short ‘dogs against old buddy Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss last week. Tennessee had scored 107 total points in the previous two outings against South Carolina and Missouri and will need that type of prolific offense if they hope to stun Bama.

The Crimson Tide were angry after a loss at Texas A&M Oct. 9, taking out their frustrations on Mississippi State in Stark Vegas. Bama rolled up a 49-9 win to easily cover a 17.5-point number while producing its best defensive showing of the season.

Tennessee at Alabama odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 45, Tennessee 24

Money line

While a lot of the haters enjoyed Alabama (-5000) getting toppled at Texas A&M, future opponents knew it was bad news. It’s like swatting a beehive, as now the Tide are incensed and they won’t be caught napping again.

Still, risking 50 times your potential return, or $2 in winnings for every $100 spent, is just a non-sensical bet.

AVOID.

Against the spread

TENNESSEE +25.5 (-112) is the angrier team in this matchup, coming off of a home loss to Ole Miss. Alabama -25.5 (-108) is going to win this game, don’t be mistaken.

But, the Vols have the offensive weapons to give the Tide a tussle for at least a half before overall talent takes over and Bama pulls away. Tennessee should still be able to keep it within three tutties.

Over/Under

OVER 68.5 (-110) is the lean, ever so slightly. This is worth a small-unit play only. Alabama is rolling up 45.0 PPG to rank fourth in the nation while posting 482.6 total yards per contest.

Tennessee can hang, going for 39.3 PPG, ranking 11th, although it does a lot of work on the ground, and Bama doesn’t allow much of anything in the run game. That’s the rub, and why you need to be cautious.

First look: Tennessee at Alabama odds and lines

Previewing the Tennessee at Alabama Week 8 matchup, with college football odds, trends and head-to-head records.

The Tennessee Volunteers (4-3, 2-2 SEC) visit the No.4 Alabama Crimson Tide (6-1, 3-1) Saturday for an SEC tussle in Tuscaloosa. Kickoff at Bryant-Denny Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Tennessee vs. Alabama odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Tennessee had a two-game win streak snapped in a 31-26 home loss to Ole Miss Saturday. The Volunteers allowed a season-high 510 total yards (279 on the ground) in a setback that may also have cost them their starting quarterback for this game. Senior QB Hendon Hooker – who had 233 passing and 108 rushing yards in the loss – is questionable after he suffered a leg injury in the fourth quarter.

The Crimson Tide snapped back from their Oct. 9 loss to Texas A&M with a 41-9 win over Mississippi State Saturday. Alabama held the Bulldogs to 199 total yards (minus-1 rushing) and did not allow a touchdown. The Tide has yielded just 90.7 rushing yards per game, which ranks eighth in the nation, and that’s despite facing two opponents (Florida, Ole Miss) currently ranked in the nation’s top-5 in rushing.
