Tennessee softball run-rules Stetson and Brown in Tennessee Classic.

No. 9 Tennessee (10-4) opened its home portion of the 2024 schedule with a pair of five-inning victories in the Tennessee Classic on Saturday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

The Lady Vols run-ruled Stetson (6-10), 8-0.

Kiki Milloy went 1-for-2 and hit a solo home run, while Zaida Puni hit a three-run home run for Tennessee. Laura Mealer also hit a three-run triple.

Tennessee’s Karlyn Pickens pitched a five-inning complete game. She allowed one hit and recorded three strikeouts.

The Lady Vols also defeated Brown (3-4), 9-1.

McKenna Gibson went 2-for-3, recording one home run, one double, one run and three RBIs. Milloy went 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBIs, two stolen bases and one triple. Destiny Rodriguez also hit a two-run home run for Tennessee.

Payton Gottshall (4-2) pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief and recorded three strikeouts to earn a win.

No. 7 Tennessee defeated Appalachian State, 8-0 in five innings, Saturday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

The Lady Vols are hosting the Tennessee Classic March 3-5.

Freshman Karlyn Pickens pitched a perfect game for Tennessee versus Appalachian State.

Pickens pitched five innings, recording five strikeouts. She faced 15 batters in the contest.

The 6-foot-1 Pickens came to Tennessee from North Buncombe High School in Weaverville, North Carolina.

She was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 27 after a four-hit shutout in the Lady Vols’ 1-0 victory against Clemson in the USF Tournament in Tampa Florida.

The Lady Vols defeat Belmont and records sixth straight shutout.

No. 7 Tennessee (12-1) won its home opener Friday, defeating Belmont (9-4), 19-0, in five innings in the Tennessee Classic at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

It is the seventh consecutive win for the Lady Vols.

Tennessee led, 1-0, in the first inning when Kiki Milloy scored on a sacrifice fly by Zaida Puni.

Tennessee scored nine runs in the second and third innings, taking an advantage of four errors by the Bruins resulting in eight unearned run for the Lady Vols.

Milloy and Rylie West each hit two-run home runs for Tennessee, while leadoff hitter and shortstop Mackenzie Donihoo went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs.

Shakara Goodloe stole home in the game for Tennessee.

Pitcher Ashley Rogers (4-0) earned the win for Tennessee, allowing two hits and recording five strikeouts.

Charli Orsini pitched two innings of relief and recorded three strikeouts. She allowed one hit and issued one intentional walk.

Lady Vols’ results in the Tennessee Classic.

The Lady Vols recorded two four-set losses in the Tennessee Classic Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Bowling Green defeated Tennessee (1-2), 26-24, 25-16, 26-28, 25-22.

Morgahn Fingall led the Lady Vols with 17 kills against Bowling Green (1-2).

Erykah Lovett finished with 12 kills, one ace, two assists and 16 digs, while Natalie Hayward recorded 34 assists, 13 digs and one ace.

Purdue (3-0) defeated the Lady Vols, 20-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-19, in the Tennessee Classic finale.

Fingall and Lovett each recorded 20 kills for the Lady Vols. Fingall totaled 13 digs and Lovett finished with two aces.

Hayward posted 41 assists, nine digs, five blocks and one ace.

Tennessee will next play in the North Carolina State Classic Friday in Raleigh, North Carolina.
