Former Colorado WR Tar’Varish Dawson reportedly transfers to Jacksonville State

Former Colorado wideout Tar’Varish Dawson is reportedly headed to Jacksonville State

Former Colorado Buffaloes football wide receiver Tar’Varish Dawson is transferring to Jacksonville State, per 247Sports reporter Matt Zenitz.

The move marks Dawson’s third school in three years after transferring from the Auburn Tigers to Colorado last offseason. With the Buffs, Dawson played in only four games, all during the first four weeks of the season. He hauled in 14 passes for 124 yards in those contests, including his first career touchdown catch against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Following the end of the season, Dawson was reportedly dismissed from the Buffs due to a personal matter, resulting in his entrance to the transfer portal. The speedy 5-foot-10 receiver quickly racked up offers from Football Championship Subdivision programs before landing with the Gamecocks, who joined the Conference USA last year. Dawson didn’t fail to ruffle some feathers, however, when he visited in-state rival Colorado State in May.

Dawson is now at Jacksonville State, but numerous other former Buffs remain in the transfer portal.

Former Colorado receiver Tar’Varish Dawson visits in-state rival CSU

Tar’Varish Dawson was up in Fort Collins visiting with CSU head coach Jay Norvell

Former Colorado football wide receiver Tar’Varish Dawson Jr. shared his visit with the Colorado State football program via an X post on Tuesday almost one month after entering the transfer portal. Dawson entered the portal after being dismissed from the Buffs in February.

The post was brief, with Dawson thanking CSU for the visit alongside a picture of him standing next to Rams head coach Jay Norvell. Buff Nation hasn’t taken Dawson’s visit to Fort Collins lightly, especially after last season’s infamous Rocky Mountain Showdown.

The sophomore wideout only saw the field in the first four weeks of his lone season with Colorado, most notably stepping up in CU’s Week 3 win over Nebraska with three catches for 41 yards, including his first and only career touchdown. Dawson posted a career-high five catches for 60 yards in the Buffs’ 43-35 double-overtime win over CSU.

Dawson spent one year at Auburn before landing with Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders. The receiver was initially committed to Cincinnati before flipping to CU last offseason.

Former Auburn teammates set to square off in Eugene

Former Auburn teammates Bo Nix and Tar’varish Dawson will reunite with No. 11 Oregon hosts No. 19 Colorado on Saturday.

Following the final whistle of Auburn’s SEC opener with Texas A&M, Auburn fans will have another game of interest to watch during the 2:30 p.m. CT slot.

The No. 11 Oregon Ducks meet the No. 19 Colorado Buffaloes at Autzen Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Sure, the star power that both programs bring to the game will be worth tuning in for. But for Auburn fans, the game will feature two former members of the 2021 Tigers roster.

Oregon quarterback [autotag]Bo Nix[/autotag] rebuilt his legacy last season by passing for 3,593 yards and 29 touchdowns. His performance last season has fueled this season’s Heisman Trophy campaign.

Ahead of Saturday’s game, Nix talked about the hype surrounding this game, and if he is ready to endure the atmosphere it presents.

“We just go to work and we let that noise stay outside. We let the fans and everybody else outside of the program, you know, handle all the noise and we just go to work and we want to do whatever we can to be prepared for the game and handle our preparation going into the game so that we can be prepared for the game and we can go out and play fast. We’re ready for the moment and you know, with with games like these, you know, the build up is always big and a lot of us have played in big games. They’ve played in big games. So you know, it’s going to be a high intense game once we get out on the field, but, I expect it to settle down as the game goes and just be football, again.”

On the other side of the game is former Tiger [autotag]Tar’varish Dawson[/autotag], who is also rebuilding his image at Colorado. Buffaloes quarterback Shedur Sanders has spread the wealth this season when it comes to passing, with Dawson being one of the six Colorado receivers to possess over 100 yards of receiving. He has hauled in 11 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown through three games. Last season at Auburn, he had just two catches for 30 yards.

The Ducks and Buffaloes are set to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, with ABC handling the live telecast. Early predictions suggest that Oregon will win this game, as ESPN forecasts a 93.9% chance in favor of the Ducks. Sportsbooks are predicting a 21-point win for Oregon as well.

Tar’Varish Dawson, Kyndrich Breedlove must step up for Buffs with Travis Hunter out

Colorado shouldn’t be written off against Oregon due to Travis Hunter’s absence

Unlike in basketball, for example, a football team can survive when its best player (quarterbacks excluded) goes down with an injury. While Colorado certainly won’t be the same without cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, who technically counts as two players, the Buffs don’t deserve to be written off against Oregon.

Head coach Deion Sanders constructed this team with an abundance of talent at the skill positions and it’s now time for those behind Hunter to step up. I’m calling on wide receiver Tar’Varish Dawson and cornerback Kyndrich Breedlove, in particular. Both are likely to start this weekend and should play major roles moving forward until Hunter returns.

However, Dawson and Breedlove must also remember that nobody can truly fill Hunter’s shoes. Neither has to be Superman. Clean, consistent games with a flashy play or two will be plenty.

Other Buffs who must step up include Jimmy Horn Jr., Omarion Cooper and Carter Stoutmire (if healthy).

Colorado and Oregon kickoff at 1:30 p.m. MT on Fox.

PHOTOS: New Colorado WR Tar’Varish Dawson

Given his elite wheels, Tar’Varish Dawson should fit well into Colorado’s offense next season

Given his elite speed, new Colorado wide receiver Tar’Varish Dawson is one of the top incoming transfer players I’m looking forward to watching next season.

A former four-star prospect (247Sports Composite) out of Florida, Dawson played his first two years of college football in the SEC at Auburn, albeit only appearing in five total games with two catches for the Tigers. Still, Dawson’s wheels should fit well into Sean Lewis’ up-tempo Colorado offense.

After entering the transfer portal on April 15, Dawson committed to Cincinnati on April 22 but soon changed his mind and joined head coach Deion Sanders’ Buffs on May 1.

Check out a few pictures of Dawson dating back to his Lehigh Senior High School days:

Tar’Varish Dawson changes transfer destination

One week after committing to Cincinnati, the former Auburn WR has a change of heart.

After announcing his new home just over a week ago, a former Auburn wide receiver has had a change of heart.

Former Auburn wide receiver [autotag]Tar’Varish Dawson[/autotag] announced Monday that he has flipped his transfer destination from the Cincinnati Bearcats to the Colorado Buffaloes.

Dawson says that his relationship with Buffaloes head coach [autotag]Deion Sanders[/autotag] was the deciding factor.

“I mean, my city back home is a reason,” Dawson said to Hayes Fawcett of On3. “Everybody loves Deion and wants to play for him, and we are from the same city. So why not? I got my old high school coach there. Deion coached me once on his 7v7 team. My family loves Deion and they know he will take good care of me.”

Dawson, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound native of Lehigh Acres, Florida has three years of eligibility remaining.

Dawson was originally a four-star recruit with a 0.8959 composite rating according to 247Sports. He was the No. 351 ranked player in the class of 2021 and the No. 54 ranked player in the state of Florida.

Auburn transfer WR Tar’Varish Dawson commits to Colorado

Transfer WR Tar’Varish Dawson flipped his commitment from Cincinnati to Colorado

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders has another weapon to throw to on the outside as former Auburn wide receiver Tar’Varish Dawson committed to the Buffs on Monday.

Dawson was a four-star recruit in the 2021 recruiting cycle who committed to Auburn out of Lehigh Senior High School in Florida. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound speedster entered the transfer portal on April 15 and had previously committed to Cincinnati on April 22 before flipping to Colorado.

The Buffaloes had two advantages in trying to get Dawson to Boulder. First, the Colorado-Florida pipeline has grown stronger since the hiring of head coach Deion Sanders. Second, Dawson was a Lehigh teammate of cornerback Omarion Cooper, who transferred into Colorado from Florida State just hours before Dawson joined the herd.

Auburn linebacker Powell Gordon has reportedly entered the transfer portal

He is the third linebacker to enter the transfer portal.

Auburn has lost yet another linebacker to the transfer portal. This time it’s [autotag]Powell Gordon[/autotag], according to a report from Auburn Undercover’s Jason Caldwell.

The redshirt freshman is from Auburn High and is the third linebacker to enter the portal this offseason, following [autotag]Desmond Tisdol[/autotag] and [autotag]Kameron Brown[/autotag].

RELATED: Live updates of Auburn Tigers in the portal

Gordon was a member of Auburn’s 2022 recruiting class and did not see the field in his only season on the Plains. The 6-foot-2, 222-pounder was set to be a reserve this season and it would have been tough for him to carve out a role for himself in a crowded linebacker room.

He is the fifth Auburn player to enter the portal during its spring window, with wide receiver [autotag]Tar’Varish Dawson[/autotag] and defensive end [autotag]Jeffrey M’Ba[/autotag] also announcing their intentions to leave the program.

Former Tulsa OL Jaden Muskrat receives Auburn offer

Could Muskrat join Dillon Wade in making the move from Tulsa to Auburn?

The spring window of the transfer portal officially opened on Saturday, and Auburn is already busy reaching out to potential suitors.

The day began with wide receiver [autotag]Tar’varish Dawson[/autotag] re-entering the transfer portal, becoming the second player to announce their intent to enter the portal, joining [autotag]Jeffrey M’Ba[/autotag].

On the flip side, a former Tulsa offensive lineman announced Saturday that he had received an offer from Auburn.

[autotag]Jaden Muskrat[/autotag], a rising junior from Bentonville, Arkansas, has received an offer from Auburn, becoming the second former Tulsa offensive lineman to hear from the Tigers. The first, [autotag]Dillon Wade[/autotag], followed his former head coach, [autotag]Philip Montgomery[/autotag], to the Plains during the winter transfer portal window.

According to Pro Football Focus, Muskrat played 848 snaps last season primarily at right tackle, opposite Wade. He allowed just three sacks and four quarterback hits in 2022.

Auburn has added three talented, experienced linemen through the transfer portal in Wade, [autotag]Avery Jones[/autotag], and [autotag]Gunner Britton[/autotag]. If the Tigers were able to add Muskrat, it would allow for more opportunities for the offensive backfield to do damage this season.

Wide receiver Tar’varish Dawson enters transfer portal

He appeared in four games last season and caught two passes for 30 yards.

Auburn Tigers wide receiver [autotag]Tar’Varish Dawson[/autotag] has decided to enter his name into the transfer portal according to On3‘s Matt Zeintz.

It is Dawson’s second time in the transfer portal, he originally entered it in October before deciding to stay at Auburn. He totaled 30 receiving yards and 10 rushing yards during his two seasons with the program.

The Lehigh Acres, Florida native was a four-star recruit and the No. 22 athlete and No. 54 player in the state of Florida according to the 247 Sports Composite ranking.

Dawson also played cornerback for Lehigh Senior High School. He held offers from programs such as Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Miami, and Texas A&M.

Dawson joins defensive lineman [autotag]Jeffery M’ba[/autotag] as the second Auburn player to enter the portal during its second opening.
