Rutgers football recruit Taeshawn Alston announced his college commitment date. Alston is a three-star edge rusher and one of the top players in North Carolina this recruiting cycle.

In February, one week after receiving his offer from Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights made the top six for Alston. His top six announcement, made four months ago, included South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and Virginia Tech.

He will be announcing his college decision on June 25.

Alston is a 6-foot-4, 205-pound defensive lineman from Vance County High School (Henderson, North Carolina). In the 247Sports Composite, Vance is a three-star and the tenth-best recruit in North Carolina.

He is also the No. 35 edge rusher in the nation.

South Carolina, Rutgers and North Carolina all received official visits this month for Alston. Earlier this week, Alston announced that he will not be taking an official visit to Virginia Tech as had been planned.

Despite the Rutgers football class filling up, recruits like Taeshawn Alston continue to be a priority for the program.

A three-star defensive end, Alston took an official visit last weekend to Rutgers. A class of 2025 recruit, he plays for Vance County High School (Henderson, North Carolina).

Last year for Vance County, he had 27 total tackles including nine tackles for a loss to go along with five sacks in seven games played. He is the tenth-ranked overall recruit in North Carolina and is the No. 35 edge rusher in the country according to 247Sports.

In breaking down his official to Rutgers over the weekend, Alston said it was a good time on campus. Specifically, Alston singled out his time spent with defensive ends coach Julian Campenni.

“What stood out was being with coach Camp learning more about the position I will play and hanging out with the players,” Alston told Rutgers Wire.

In late May, Alston took an official visit to South Carolina. With two visits done, his recruitment is turning towards the finish line.

 

“They both good programs I can relate to but I still have other official visits,” Alston said.

Alston is down to a final four of South Carolina, Rutgers, North Carolina and Virginia Tech. He will be at this weekend and then Virginia Tech next weekend.

Taeshawn Alston, a three-star edge from North Carolina, announced this week that he will be taking an official visit to Rutgers.

The official visit is good news for Rutgers as Alston is a top-10 player in the state according to 247Sports and is the No. 32 edge rusher in the country.

Rutgers offered Alston, who plays for  Vance County High School (Henderson, North Carolina), In February. One week after he was offered by the Big Ten program, Alston included Rutgers in his top six.

The other five programs to make Alston’s February cutdown were: South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and Virginia Tech.

He broke down his upcoming visit to Rutgers and the status of his relationship with the Scarlet Knights ahead of this week’s official visit.

“They are getting an official visit because they (are) all about the players and the coaches and the culture they have going on down there is amazing,” Alston told Rutgers Wire.

“They (are) all about F.T.C. (FAMILY, Trust, Chop). I feel like they have a great program.”

Even though Rutgers got involved with Alston in February, things have progressed with the edge rusher.

He has a solid relationship with the coaching staff. This spring, he took an unofficial visit to Rutgers.

“The relationship with the staff is great. My last visit, I created a strong bond with the coaches,” Alston said.

After Rutgers, Alston will be taking unofficial visits to North Carolina and Virginia Tech in subsequent weeks.

This past weekend, he took an official visit to South Carolina. Of the trip, Alston said Things at South Carolina “went good  – (they are) great people!”

Alston is a three-star recruit from Vance County High School (Henderson, North Carolina). At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, he has great length and a good frame to add on more size in a college strength and conditioning program.

According to 247Sports, he is the ninth-best player in North Carolina and the No. 32 edge rusher in the country.

Taeshawn Alston has scheduled an official visit to Rutgers football, putting the Big Ten program in the mix for a talented edge rusher who has an impressive offer list.

Alston announced the official visit to Rutgers via his social media on Wednesday afternoon. The official visit date announcement comes after Alston took an unofficial visit this week to campus.

The official visit weekend at Rutgers for Alston begins on June 7.

A member of the class of 2025, he is an impressive 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds and currently plays for Vance County High School (Henderson, North Carolina).

Six weeks ago, Alston announced his top six which included Rutgers. The other five schools Alston is considering are South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and Virginia Tech.

“They are getting an official visit because, like I’ve said before, (they are) a great program, great head coach that wants players to develop and (is) all about his players,” Alston told Rutgers Wire.

“Great staff behind him, all about family. They are a hard working team with a great atmosphere.”

In mid-February, Alston unveiled a top six that included Rutgers football. The cutdown in his recruitment came just a week after he was offered by the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers Wire can confirm that Alston is on campus on Monday for an unofficial visit.

Also in the top six for Alston are South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and Virginia Tech. At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Alston is a three-star defensive lineman from Vance County High School (Henderson, North Carolina).

Rutgers football certainly seems to be making up for time with Taeshawn Alston, a three-star edge rusher from North Carolina. One of his most recent offers, Alston nonetheless says that Rutgers is doing well in his recruitment.

Alston is a class of 2025 defensive lineman recruit from Vance County High School (Henderson, North Carolina).  According to On3, he is the eighth-ranked recruit in the state and the No. 22 edge rusher nationally.

His top six, announced this week, included South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and Virginia Tech. Rutgers certainly had good timing in all of this as they had offered just four days earlier

According to Alston, things are going well and he cited his growing relationship with head coach Greg Schinao and Scott Vallone (named the Rutgers tight ends coach this week).

“They are good people with a good staff and they want it bad,” Alston told Rutgers Wire this week.

“Coach Schiano is a great coach with a great program and around him, so we built that relationship quickly. Me and coach Vallone made that connection when he came up to my school and ever since then we’ve been talking a lot.”

Vallone was instrumental last year in Rutgers pulling in [autotag]Ben Black[/autotag] and[autotag] Isaiah Crumpler[/autotag] from North Carolina.

As for official visits, Alston right now is projecting that all six of the programs that made his final six will get an official visit. Plus, he said he would like to visit Tennessee.

Given that Rutgers was his most recent offer, it was intriguing to see Alston include the Big Ten program in his top six that came out just a couple of days later.

“They made my top six because they are a hard-working football team and staff,” Alston said.

“And they really make that connection with the guys they really want and I love that about them. (A) Really great program and like I said, they want it all.”

The staff on the defensive side of the ball is different for Rutgers, with the recent hires of [autotag]Colin Ferrell[/autotag] (defensive line) and [autotag]Julian Campenni[/autotag] (defensive ends).

The relationship there is growing, he said.

“The connection (is) good. Me and coach Camp have been building that relationship since he’s been there,” Alston said.

“I been talking to him a lot. He loves how I move on the field and he likes me as a person. He’s excited for me to be up there this spring.”

Last week, Rutgers offered Alston, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound defensive lineman from Vance County High School (Henderson, North Carolina). Despite being his most recent offer, Rutgers nonetheless made the cut for Alston, who is part of the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Alston included Rutgers as part of a top six that includes South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and Virginia Tech. It is certainly impressive for Rutgers to make Alston’s list having just offered him four days prior.

Programs such as Appalachian State, Colorado and Liberty did not make the six listed by the North Carolina edge rusher.

Rutgers football sent out an offer on Friday to three-star edge Taeshawn Alston. It is yet another push by Rutgers into North Carolina, where the Big Ten program pulled some significant talent a year ago.

Alston is a 6-foot-4, 205-pound defensive lineman from Vance County High School (Henderson, North Carolina). He is a consensus three-star recruit.

Per 247Sports, he is the eight-best recruit in North Carolina and the No. 33 overall edge rusher in the nation.

He currently holds offers from Appalachian State, Colorado, Liberty, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Florida, Virginia Tech and West Virginia among others.

The offer to Alston is the second going out from Rutgers to a North Carolina athlete. On Thursday, Tai Buster was offered by the Scarlet Knights.

Buster is a three-star offensive lineman from Kannapolis, North Carolina. he has been offered by Auburn, Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Liberty, Maryland and Penn State among others.

In the 2024 recruiting class, Rutgers football landed three players from North Carolina in Ben Black, Isaiah Crumpler and Noah Shaw.

All three players were consensus three-star star recruits.
