He is a multi-sport athlete who plays basketball and baseball for Ramapo:

Currently, the Rutgers football 2025 recruiting class boasts three commits. Last fall, [autotag]Sean Ashenfelder,[/autotag] a quarterback from Florida, became the first player to commit to the class. Rutgers football commit Talibi Kaba is a four-star recruit

Talibi Kaba talks about becoming a four-star recruit this week.

Talibi Kaba is now a four-star, the Rutgers football commit and standout linebacker from New Jersey seeing a significant rise in the recruiting rankings on Wednesday.

A linebacker at Hillside (Hillside, New Jersey), Kaba is now one of the top players in New Jersey. He committed to Rutgers in early February.

With the bump by 247Sports, Kaba is now the No. 165 recruit in the nation. One month ago on Feb. 6, he was an unranked player.

Now he is 247Sports’ fifth-best player in New Jersey.the No. 20 linebacker in the nation.

Kaba is a quick and fluid linebacker who covers a lot of ground. He has the ability to change direction quickly but is also very solid in run support.

“I got a notification on Twitter and I open it and I saw it says I’m a four-star,” Kaba told Rutgers Wire.

“I was excited because it was out of nowhere. I was happy all the hard work and dedication paid off.”

Kaba’s commitment last month marked the first player from New Jersey to become a part of the 2025 recruiting class. He was joined days later by three-star offensive lineman [autotag]Jayden Elijah[/autotag], an offensive lineman from Matawan (Matawan, New Jersey).

The first player to commit to Rutgers in this recruiting cycle is Florida quarterback[autotag] Sean Ashenfelder.[/autotag]

Since his bump on Wednesday, Kaba said no new schools have reached out to him. He has locked in some visits though – all to Rutgers.

“I’m going to a Rutgers spring practice and I have an official visit (in) May at Rutgers,” Kaba said.

Kaba said he will not be taking any visits to any other schools.

Rutgers football lands in the top six for North Carolina edge Taeshawn Alston

Rutgers football recruit Taeshawn Alston cuts down his list to six.

Three-star edge rusher Taeshawn Alston released his top six on Tuesday afternoon. And for Rutgers football, it was some good news.

Last week, Rutgers offered Alston, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound defensive lineman from Vance County High School (Henderson, North Carolina). Despite being his most recent offer, Rutgers nonetheless made the cut for Alston, who is part of the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Alston included Rutgers as part of a top six that includes South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and Virginia Tech. It is certainly impressive for Rutgers to make Alston’s list having just offered him four days prior.

Programs such as Appalachian State, Colorado and Liberty did not make the six listed by the North Carolina edge rusher.

The cut down to six was made on social media by Alston on Tuesday afternoon:

The Rutgers football class of 2025 currently features three players. Last fall, Florida quarterback [autotag]Sean Ashenfelder[/autotag] became the first verbal in the class. Last week, linebacker/safety [autotag]Talibi Kaba[/autotag], one of New Jersey’s top prospects, committed to the Scarlet Knights.

Sean Ashenfelder reacts to Rutgers football’s newest commit, three-star Talibi Kaba

Sean Ashenfelder talks about the commitment of Talibi Kaba.

Rutgers football added a second commitment to the program last week in athlete Talibi Kaba. For Sean Ashenfelder, the first commitment in the 2025 class, the addition of Talibi to Rutgers is “big news.”

The commitment of Kaba gives the program its first New Jersey commitment of this cycle. He is also quite the player; he is being projected by Rutgers to play either as a linebacker or as a safety.

Kaba is ranked the No. 12 prospect in New Jersey by 247Sports and nationally, he is the No. 39 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class.  He has been offered by Boston College, Duke, Kent State and Iowa State.

For Ashenfelder, a quarterback from Florida, adding Kaba to the class is a big piece of momentum.

“It’s big news. He’s a great player. We’re building something special at Rutgers,” Ashenfelder told Rutgers Wire last week.

“He’s great on both sides of the ball. Quick and strong.”

As for Ashenfelder, he is coming off a strong junior year at Creekside (St. Augustine, Florida). A three-star quarterback, his offer list includes Power Five programs Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and West Virginia among others.

[lawrence-related id=35211,35176]

He has kept an eye on Rutgers and likes what he saw from the offense’s growth and development.

This past fall was the first season under offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca. What was an offense that had been bottom of the Big Ten in the previous five years was much improved under Ciarrocca.

They were eighth in total-offense last year and featured [autotag]Kyle Monangai[/autotag], the Big Ten’s leading rusher.

[lawrence-related id=35196,35168]

“I thought the offense had a great year for his first year as offensive coordinator,” Ashenfelder said. “I liked his scheme and personnel usage.”

Rutgers football: Elite New Jersey linebacker Talibi Kaba commits

Talibi Kaba commits to Rutgers football.

Talibi Kaba gave a verbal to Rutgers on Tuesday night, landing the Big Ten program its first commitment from a New Jersey prospect in the 2025 class.

A 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker from Hillside (Hillside, New Jersey), Kaba is coming to Rutgers as an athlete. He currently holds offers from Boston College, Duke, Kent State and Iowa State.

He is currently unranked but has the potential to be a consensus top-20 player in New Jersey this recruiting cycle.

An explosive athlete, Kaba plays as a running back and a linebacker at Hillside. He has quick feet and fluidity in his hips which, combined with his size and strength, makes him a very unique athlete.

He posted his commitment to Rutgers on Tuesday night:

Kaba is the first verbal in Rutgers’ 2025 recruiting class from New Jersey. He is the second overall commit, joining Florida quarterback [autotag]Sean Ashenfelder[/autotag] in the class.

Film Review: Rutgers 2025 recruit Sean Ashenfelder is a pro style quarterback

Film Review: Quarterback Sean Ashenfelder provided a verbal commitment to Rutgers football, electing to join the Scarlet Knights in 2025.

This past fall, Sean Ashenfelder provided a verbal commitment to Rutgers football. The Florida quarterback is part of the 2025 class and was a big early get for the Scarlet Knights.

Also, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound quarterback added 582 yards on the ground with 130 carries and 13 touchdowns. According to Max Preps, Ashenfelder led the Creekside Knights to a 6-5 record and the No. 65 school ranking in Florida.

Film Review

This Rutgers 2025 commit is a pro-style quarterback with a strong arm, making every throw on the field. Ashenfelder is athletic with the ability to escape pressure and extend plays with his legs.

He looks comfortable in the pocket and can make accurate throws on the run. His style of play is similar to current Rutgers starter Gavin Wimsatt. Ashenfelder is an excellent fit for offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca’s offense, playing in a similar scheme at Creekside High School.

[lawrence-related id=34162,34121]

Reading defenses will be an area to focus on for the new Scarlet Knight, as using his speed to escape pressure might not work every play. He can be dangerous if he understands his pre-snap reads. Ashenfelder is an excellent athlete and can blossom into a Power Five quarterback as he continues to develop.
