Four-star 2025 LSU cornerback target decommits from Georgia

Tae Harris has been pledged to the Bulldogs since June, but he backed off that pledge Sunday.

The Tigers are off to a nice start in the 2025 class already with an eight-man class that currently ranks second in the nation and features the top overall player and quarterback as well as the top running back and receiver.

Now, LSU may be in contention for a player it missed out on the first time around. Cornerback [autotag]Tae Harris[/autotag] committed to in-state Georgia back in June, but the Cedartown (Ga.) four-star prospect backed off his pledge to the Bulldogs on Sunday.

Harris told On3 that the departure of defensive backs coach Fran Brown to become the head coach at Syracuse led to his decision to decommit, and he included LSU in the list of schools he’s considering.

“Some of the schools I am talking to a lot right now are Clemson, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UCF and Georgia Tech,” Harris said, per On3’s Chad Simmons. “Those are just some, but there are others. A lot of schools are pushing for me now.”

Oklahoma Sooners offer 4-star cornerback and Georgia Bulldogs commit

Jay Valai offered four-star cornerback and UGA commit Tae Harris on Wednesday morning.

Oklahoma’s defensive backs had an up-and-down season in 2023. They’ll be looking for more consistency as the Sooners prepare for the SEC. The Sooner defensive backs are a talented unit, and they had excellent production with interceptions, as the Sooners were in the top five as a team in that category. They can improve to be more sticky in coverage going into 2024.

Jay Valai has been an excellent recruiter since coming to Oklahoma, and he’s looking to continue building that room with an offer to Tae Harris out of Cedartown, Georgia, on Wednesday morning.

Harris, a four-star, six-foot cornerback in the 2025 class, is already committed to Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. However, Harris is not planning to shut down his recruitment anytime soon and continues to visit other schools.

The 247Sports composite rankings have Harris rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 221 prospect in the country, the No. 27 cornerback, and the No. 28 prospect in Georgia.

Harris is a dual-sport athlete with excellent track times in the 100-meter dash and some very nice numbers on the gridiron. He is a two-way player for his Cedartown High School team who plays receiver when not locking down receivers. He also showcased versatility as a defensive back and played free safety. He could be a candidate to play the nickel for the Sooners in college given his versatility.

Four-star UGA commit has ‘great’ UF visit, receives offer from Gators

The Florida Gators hosted a few recruits from the class of 2025 and sent an offer to a 4-star UGA commit

The Florida football program hosted a plethora of high school prospects from the 2025 recruiting cycle on Saturday, and the team is looking to flip a four-star wideout from his commitment to Georgia.

2025 cornerback recruit [autotag]Tae Harris[/autotag] wandered around the UF campus during his official visit over the weekend and the high school junior seems elated with what he’s seen in Gainesville.

Harris talked to Swamp247 to detail his trip to Florida and there were a lot of positive takeaways. When asked how the trip went, the cornerback had one word to describe it.

“Great. I loved the campus, they are big on life after football,” Harris said. Number one recently ranked public school in America now, so I loved it. Me and all the coaches are tight such as coach (Chad) Lucas, Coach (Will) Harris, Coach (Joe) Hamilton, Coach (Allen) Brown, Coach (Kali) James, and Coach (Billy) Napier. Coach Harris expressed to me how much he needs me there and he has no problem playing people as a freshman.”

The Gators will be relying a lot on its young team members for the foreseeable future, and it’s been a big part of the pitch for recruits to come play for Napier and the Gators.

The coaching staff and Harris watched through game tape together, breaking down the prospect’s highlights. Harris also sat down with Napier, which led to Harris receiving an official offer from the Gators.

Harris is a 4-star recruit according to the 247Sports composite scale, ranking at No. 220 overall for the 2025 recruiting class and standing at No. 27 among cornerbacks.

A 4-star UGA commit has set up an official visit with the Florida Gators for the spring.

The Florida football program is looking ahead to 2025 as talks with highly touted recruits are beginning to unfold and official visits are being marked on the coaching staff’s calendar.

A lot of coaches will have plans to sway 2025 cornerback [autotag]Tae Harris[/autotag] when he visits the University of Florida this spring, who is currently “solid” commit to the Georgia Bulldogs. The four-star plans to visit the program on junior day, which takes place on Jan. 13.

Harris says he’s still firm with his commitment to Georgia, but according to 247Sports is still listening to phone calls from other teams to keep his options open and get to know the coaching staffs.

“I’m still with Georgia,” Harris said. “I’m just taking my time with it. Getting to know the new DB coach.”

Harris is a four-star from Cedartown, Georgia, and ranks as the No. 221 overall recruit, according to the 247Sports composite scale. He also ranks as the No. 35 cornerback in the nation. The Colorado Buffaloes and LSU Tigers have also been making their final pushes to convince Harris.

WATCH: 4-star Georgia CB commit spotted wearing LSU gloves at workout

Could the Tigers flip a blue-chip defensive back away from a conference rival?

LSU has the makings of a very solid 2025 recruiting class, and it’s looking to add to that group by flipping a player currently committed to a conference rival.

The Tigers offered four-star Georgia cornerback commit [autotag]Tae Harris[/autotag] back in late November, and it seems they’ve made an impact on the Cedartown (Ga.) prospect.

While competing at the Georgia Elite Classic in Atlanta, Harris was spotted wearing LSU gloves by On3’s Chad Simmons. Harris has been committed to the in-state Bulldogs since June 19.

He ranks as a top-250 player nationally, and Georgia is widely expected to ultimately sign him. However, with LSU putting on the pressure, that could potentially change.

LSU currently has a six-man 2025 class that ranks in the top five nationally. It’s headlined by five-star receiver [autotag]Dakorien Moore[/autotag], who ranks as the No. 4 player in America.
