Boston alumnus Tacko Fall chimes in on potential Celtics-Jaylen Brown trade chatter fallout

“The outside noise doesn’t really matter; It’s what (Boston) thinks of him, and I know the organization thinks greatly of him, and I know he loves Boston, so that’s all that matters.”

Former Boston Celtics big man Tacko Fall may no longer be on the team he first played for in the NBA (and is headed to China, in fact), but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about the players he broke into the league alongside, especially star Celtics wing Jaylen Brown.

Speaking at TJ Kidd’s celebrity basketball game with Bally Sports’ Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on the Georgia native’s inclusion in rumors tying him to a potential Kevin Durant trade, the former Celtics center said: “I think Jaylen is very disrespected. I think he doesn’t get the credit he deserves sometimes; he’s a great player.”

“Jaylen is nice … he’s just got to keep doing what he’s doing. He’s very focused; he’s very locked in. He knows what he wants to accomplish, and they’re doing well.”

“The outside noise doesn’t really matter,” added the former UCF player. “It’s what the organization thinks of him, and I know the organization thinks greatly of him, and I know he loves Boston, so that’s all that matters.”

Shams: Former Celtic Tacko Fall headed to China to play for Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers

The Boston big man alum will head to the CBA for one season, per reports.

Fan favorite former Boston Celtics big man Tacko Fall is headed overseas for the next stage of his basketball career per new reporting from The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The Senegalese center is planning to sign with the Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association, based in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China.

Per Charania, the three-year NBA vet will join the Flying Tigers after going unselected in the 2019 NBA draft out of the University of Central Florida and starting his pro career with the Celtics. He played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2021-22 season.

The 7-foot-6 big man spent most of his time honing his game at the G League level with the Maine Celtics and Canton Charge, but has grown a considerable fan base at every step of his basketball career due to his gregarious nature.

Talking with Tacko Fall: The Boston Celtics big man alum gives a bilingual update

Catch up with Fall in this recent interview in both French and English (with subtitles).

Fans of former Boston Celtics big man Tacko Fall may not be aware he is a polyglot — a fancy way of saying he speaks multiple languages — with French being the one he is most comfortable speaking in.

The Senegalese center was recently reunited with former Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge while suiting up for the Jazz’ summer league squad. That follows a stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers and their G League developmental affiliate, the Canton Charge. He has also been busy taking interviews, appearing on the French “Les NBA Stories” podcast.

If you’d like to catch up with the fan favorite big man, Fall has plenty to say about what he has been up to and what his future holds in both French with English subtitles and in English with French subtitles in the video embedded below.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear it for yourself.

Where does Boston Celtics alumnus Tacko Fall rate among big man 7-foot-4 or taller?

Better than you might think according to at least one account.

In the entire history of the NBA, there have only been 13 players in total who stood 7-foot-4 or taller. Among those literal giants of the sport is a former Boston Celtics big man, fan favorite center Tacko Fall. And while extraordinary height can indeed confer plenty of advantages in a sport like basketball, it can also create some issues to contend with.

Some of those 13 players used their unusual stature to greater effect than others, while others struggled to overcome issues of speed, mobility, or skill. Where does the former Boston big man stack up against his similarly tall peers in league history?

The hosts of The Athletic “No Dunks” podcast decided to debate the order of the league’s 13 tallest players in history, and while he may not be a superstar on the court in terms of his play, Fall has a solid showing with what he’s done in the league so far in their estimation.

Check out the clip embedded above to see where the Senegalese center stacks up.

Per Tacko Fall, Utah Jazz to hire Boston Celtics player development coach Evan Bradds

Fall is with Utah this offseason to play for their Las Vegas Summer League team under new GM Danny Ainge and new head coach Will Hardy.

If the whole NBA player thing does not work out for former Boston Celtics big man Tacko Fall, perhaps he has a future as an NBA insider with the Salt Lake City Tribune’s Eric Walden reporting that the UCF product told him that new Utah Jazz head coach and former Celtics assistant Will Hardy is going to poach the ranks of Boston’s assistants even further by hiring Boston player enhancement coach Evan Bradds.

Fall is with the Jazz on a camp deal to play in Las Vegas Summer League for Utah, now headed by the team president who helmed the Celtics when he first signed with that team in 2019, Danny Ainge. Hardy’s hire brought additional Celtics alumni presence to the new-look Jazz, and that just got even more pronounced with news of the Bradds hire.

Boston managed to rise back to prominence after a long period of stagnation under Ainge and the team rose to contention status under the tenure of Hardy and his former boss, Celtics head coach Ime Udoka.

So, it makes sense for the Jazz to want to bring some of those minds on board to remedy similar circumstances in Salt Lake City.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Celtics alumni can help jump-start what had become a moderately successful but stagnant franchise in the league’s Western Conference, but the haul Ainge just collected dealing away veteran big man Rudy Gobert ought to provide fertile ground on which to try.

7-foot-6 Tacko Fall sitting front row for Celtics-Bucks had NBA fans sympathizing for everyone behind him

Tacko is tall.

Tacko Fall is a delight to watch doing anything, whether it’s seeing the 7-foot-6 center in an actual game or conducting an orchestra.

But if you’re a fan sitting behind Fall at a game where he’s sitting front row — and it’s a playoff contest, so tickets probably cost A LOT — that’s not such a delight.

And that was the situation on Wednesday night, when the former Celtics center took a seat during Game 5 and it was a whole lot of “DOWN IN FRONT!” for everyone behind him (although that’s what I’m guessing they were thinking).

It was resolved, though, but there were so many jokes in the process:

Former Boston Celtics two way center Tacko Fall signs deal with Canton Charge

The Senegalese big man will be an affiliate player of the Cavs.

Former Boston Celtics two way big man Tacko Fall has signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers’ developmental affiliate in the G League, the Canton Charge according to a recent press release circulated by the team.

Fall, a center out of the University of Central Florida picked up by the Celtics on a two way deal after going unselected in the 2019 NBA draft, had previously signed with the Cavs as a two way player after a pair of seasons in a similar role with Boston ended this summer. The Senegalese big man will play as an in-season affiliate player for the team according to the release.

Cut by the Cavs on Jan. 9, Fall had played mainly with the parent club as a two way player in the 2021-22 season, having played just one contest with the Charge before signing with them.

Fall also played in four games during the G League’s Showcase Cup tournament this season, recording 23.3 points on .731 shooting with 13.3 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in 28.4 minutes per game.

Shams: Former Boston Celtics two way big man Tacko Fall cut by Cleveland Cavaliers

Fall signed with the Cavs as a two way player this offseason.

It is no longer Tacko Time in Ohio, it seems, as The Athletic’s Shams Charania is reporting that the Cleveland Cavaliers are planning on waiving former Boston Celtics two way big man Tacko Fall.

Charania relates that the Cavs are cutting the Senegalese center in order to make room for guard Brandon Goodwin, who Cleveland will sign to Fall’s previous two way slot with the franchise. The undrafted big man out of the University of Central Florida spent two seasons in a two way capacity with the Celtics before signing with the Cavs this offseason and appeared in 11 games with the parent club while splitting his time with Cleveland’s G League outfit.

Fall recorded 1.1 points and 2.1 rebounds per game while playing with the Cavs in the NBA. No word as to whether the former Celtic has another position lined up, but will likely get another chance with a new team this season with COVID-19 continuing to threaten NBA rosters.

Boston’s plan against the Cavs? Per Jayson Tatum, ‘we’ve got to stop Tacko’

The St. Louis native thinks that’s the plan.

The Boston Celtics face off with the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road Saturday night, and All-Star forward Jayson Tatum shared his thoughts on how the team needs to approach the game with Cleveland Friday night after their overtime win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

“We’ve got to stop Tacko (Fall),” related the St. Louis native, his former teammate now a Cleveland Cavalier, having been signed to a two way contract with the Cavs in the 2021 offseason. “I think that’s the game plan,” he added. “You know how tall he is and how big.” Tatum revealed he hoped the 7-foot-5 center would be on the floor against Boston, and that his former teammates missed him.

“You know how much of a joy he is to be around,” related the Duke product of Fall’s gregarious personality, at least off-court.

With so many key rotation players out for this game (Al Horford and Josh Richardson have been downgraded to scratches for the contest) it is possible enough deep rotation players on the Celtics’ side see floor time that Fall might as well.

But if not, his former Boston teammates will get another chance against the Cavs on Monday, Nov. 15.

The slowest players in the league, according to NBA 2K22

Check out the slowest players in the league, according to NBA 2K22.

Just as interesting as it is to see who the fastest players in every edition of NBA 2K is, it might be even more fun to find out who the game franchise ranks as the slowest players in the NBA every year.

NBA 2K22 won’t shock you with any of these players, as this ranking is littered with plodding 7-footers like Tacko FallBrook Lopez and Boban Marjanovic, but the list is quite interesting and entertaining nonetheless.

Below, check out the slowest players in the league, according to NBA 2K22.
