An unemployed Robin Lopez sat courtside and read a book during a game after the Bucks traded him

Robin Lopez was so unimpressed with the Milwaukee Bucks after being traded (and waived!) that he started reading a book mid-game.

The NBA trade deadline was dragging along, and then, BOOM! The trades started happening, moving players all over the league. But Robin Lopez was so unimpressed with the whole ordeal he was spotted reading mid-game after being traded and immediately waived by his new team.

If you were wondering why the NBA trade deadline was so quiet, you weren’t the only one. (We were too). Yet, pretty soon, trades started flying, including the Milwaukee Bucks trading Robin Lopez to the Sacramento Kings.

Lopez didn’t spend long with Sacramento. He was waived, which freed him up Thursday to watch the Bucks (and twin brother Brook) play the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, Lopez was seemingly so over his day and his previous employers that he decided to crack open a book.

Habitual mascot hater Robin Lopez really did a jersey swap with the Spurs mascot

Congratulations to Lopez and The Coyote.

NBA veteran big man Robin Lopez has a long and complicated relationship with mascots around the league. But he changed his tune against the Spurs.

After a victory against San Antonio and some jaw-dropping moments from Victor Wembanyama, the Milwaukee center had some business he needed to attend to on the court. Lopez met up with The Coyote, who is the longtime mascot for the Spurs.

Very few fans likely expected a peaceful exchange, especially considering that Lopez once blinded The Coyote in a violent attack. Instead, however, Lopez and The Coyote had a jersey swap that was hilariously captured on video.

What a classy exchange between the two individuals, who put their differences aside to share a nice moment for the fans.

Lopez now gets to have to have a piece of memorabilia from The Coyote, who was officially inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2007. For The Win ranked The Coyote as the second-best mascot in the NBA.

The Coyote, meanwhile, is now the proud owner of a Robin Lopez jersey.

The remaining active NBA players from each draft class between 2003 and 2010

It is truly remarkable that LeBron is still playing as well as he does.

With each passing season, more and more players in the previous generation of the NBA are graduating into retirement.

Some of the most recognizable and dominant players of a beloved era (e.g. Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwight Howard, etc.) have recently ended their professional playing careers.

As the league begins to look increasingly different every year, we decided to look at which players drafted before 2011 are still active in the league. There are only 30 players who fit those qualifications and only 19 have started more than one game this season.

Here is a look at each NBA draft class and who remains active years later.

All data is provided via Stathead and is accurate as of publishing.

Robin Lopez used a hilariously unexpected Muppets metaphor to sum up the awful Nets’ Big 3 era

This a very astute observation from Lopez, who named his dog Muppet.

Everyone has thoughts on the blockbuster trade that sent former Nets star Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns.

But no one summarized their thoughts better than Cleveland Cavaliers big man Robin Lopez, who offered the most insightful analysis that one could possibly want from an NBA peer.

Lopez and his twin brother, Brook, bring fourteen years of pro experience. During their time in the league, they have seen it all, so they have a unique perspective.

Here is what Lopez had to say when he reflected on the fallen era in Brooklyn that once featured Durant alongside Kyrie Irving and James Harden:

According to Lopez, this is “just like” that time in The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984) when The Muppets “split up and leave Manhattan” after “unsuccessfully attempting” to take Manhattan.

This a very astute observation from Lopez, who named his dog Muppet.

This tweet from Lopez, by the way, is far from the first time that he has tweeted about the Muppets. Some of his other greatest hits on the topic:

Lopez, who says his favorite Muppet is Gonzo, finally gives us an answer to a fundamental question about basketball.

If we were to replace the entire league with Muppets but leave one player exactly the same, Lopez should be the one to remain as a human.

Microphones caught Robin Lopez hilariously trolling his brother Brook Lopez during the Cavs-Bucks game

We need a playoff series of Robin Lopez trolling Brook Lopez

Mic’d up content is always great, no matter what the sport. It can be football, basketball, air hockey. Whatever. As long as there’s a competitive spirit there, it’s going to always be fun.

But now, imagine throwing a couple of brothers in the mix. The mic’d up session all of a sudden becomes pure comedy. That’s what happened with the Lopez twins on Wednesday night.

Brook Lopez’s Milwaukee Bucks played against Robin Lopez’s Cleveland Cavaliers and Robin was mic’d up. The results were fantastic.

Robin completely exposed Brook’s theater background, which is why he’s apparently a master flopper. You need to hear this yourself.

This is fantastic. The flop. The turnover and Robin Lopez calling it an assist. This is probably exactly how it used to be in the backyard. It seems so great. More of this, please. Can these two play every game against each other?

Fans absolutely loved this. It was pure comedy.

5 free agent big men that Sixers should look at in 2022 offseason

Here are five big men who the Philadelphia 76ers can look at in free agency to back up Joel Embiid.

As the Philadelphia 76ers begin preparing for the free agency period at the end of June, they have some, but not a lot of, money to play with. They will have the $6.4 million taxpayer mid-level exception to use, but they could open the full $10.3 million mid-level exception if they waive Danny Green, who will miss a good portion of the 2022-23 season.

Philadelphia has a few needs that need to be addressed in the offseason such as the addition of a legitimate 3-and-D wing player as well as another ball-handler, but they could also use a backup big man, once again.

The Sixers had a good one in Andre Drummond before they sent him to the Brooklyn Nets in the James Harden deal and they struggled to replace his production behind Joel Embiid. While young players Paul Reed and Charles Bassey wait in the wings, Philadelphia might be better off getting a win-now sort of player considering their championship timeline.

With that being said, here are five big men in 2022 free agency that could help the team move forward:

NBA buyout market: 5 names to watch

The NBA buyout market is full of some very intriguing players. Who might be available?

The NBA trade deadline has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean teams are done making meaningful additions. Rosters could still change in a big way ahead of the playoffs thanks to the NBA buyout market. There’s a number of intriguing players who may negotiate contract buyouts with their current squads in the coming weeks. From there, they would be able to join any team with an open roster spot.

Whether it’s PJ Brown and the 2008 Celtics or Reggie Jackson and last year’s Clippers team, adding a player via the buyout market can make a major impact. Veteran players often look to jump ship to contenders as winter turns to spring and postseason comes into view. Expect the Lakers and Heat to be players here. Ditto the Sixers and Nets. Any team with a shot at a title will think long and hard about making a meaningful addition if it can.

Check out some of the names that could be on the move and headline the 2022 NBA buyout market:

Is Orlando’s Robin Lopez a Boston sports fan? Or just a big man with an odd sense of humor?

The Magic center had some Boston-related sports jokes on Twitter Wednesday.

Could it be that Orlando Magic big man Robin Lopez is a fan of Boston sports teams? After news broke that Staples Center, the home arena of the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, will soon be known as “Crypto.com Arena” after the eponymous website for trading cryptocurrency purchased the naming rights to the arena, Lopez took to Twitter with some jokes as many did on Wednesday.

“Slightly disappointed AEG/Crypto.com Arena outbid the city of Boston, who was going to rename Staples Center ‘(expletive) The Lakers Go Pats’ Performing Arts Center,” jested the longtime Celtics foil, who is known to have a sense of humor to match his considerable size as a human being.

Whether it’s a dig at Bostonian sports fans — known to be among the most gung-ho around the league — or an admission on the part of Lopez he’d actually have preferred such a name, he was one of very many to make jokes about the awkward name for the new arena which certainly doesn’t roll off of one’s tongue.

Out-of-rotation players who could become trade candidates

We are more than three weeks into the NBA regular season and most teams have settled on their rotations. Some aren’t fully healthy and will have tinkering to do when key players return, but some others have some rotation players that are not playing.

Here are some players consistently getting DNP-CDs despite being healthy who could become candidates for a trade.
