Andrew Wingard: Win at home and we’ll go to the Super Bowl

As long as the Jaguars don’t lose any more games at home, they’ll play in Super Bowl LVIII, says Andrew Wingard.

All that stands between the Jacksonville Jaguars and their first-ever trip to the Super Bowl is a string of wins at EverBank Stadium, says safety Andrew Wingard.

The always-fired-up defensive back and special teamer was forced into the starting lineup Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers because of an injury to Andre Cisco. After a 20-10 win that included an interception by Wingard, he had a lot to say after the game.

Wingard, who snatched a Terrible Towel during the game and had postgame advice for the Steelers’ George Pickens, laid out the clear path to Super Bowl LVIII in an interview with Brent Martineau of Action Sports Jax.

“Isn’t this fun? Is this not fun? This is awesome,” Wingard said. “I mean, look at these freakin’ fans. We need to be selling out The Bank every damn week. We need to win all our home games and we’re gonna go to the [expletive] Super Bowl.”

That’s quite the statement from a player on a team that has now won five straight and is feeling great. It’s also — well — probably pretty true.

The Jaguars have five more home games (vs. 49ers, Titans, Bengals, Ravens, Panthers) on the schedule. At worst, the team would be 11-6 at the end of the year if it wins those games. That should be more than enough to win an AFC South that now has three teams below .500.

That’d mean at least one home playoff game in January and probably more, so long as the Jaguars don’t go 0-4 in their remaining road games (vs. Texans, Browns, Buccaneers, Titans).

The Jaguars are 2-2 in home games this season, although one of those wins was at their “home” away from home at Wembley Stadium in London. If the Jaguars run the table at EverBank Field, Wingard is feeling pretty good about their chances at playing for the Lombardi Trophy at Allegiant Stadium.

13 songs Usher should perform at the 2024 Super Bowl

Everyone calm down! We have the list of songs we want Usher to perform at the Super Bowl.

Usher is performing at the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, and millennials everywhere just pulled a muscle busting out dance moves from the 8701 album. (OK, maybe that was just me, but somebody will catch these moves!)

Usher’s been tearing up his Las Vegas residency since July 2022, bringing childlike joy to his most devoted fans. Now, he’s taking his talents to one of the world’s biggest stages.

When I saw him during his residency’s opening night, he reflectively said, “I got hits, man.” He then blazed through several songs he didn’t have enough time for in his show as a quick ode to those who’ve been with him for decades. That’s when I realized: Usher is that guy!

I put together a list of songs I think he should perform to celebrate this halftime show that is obviously curated for me to scream in my living room like I’m 13 again.

Here’s what Usher needs to perform or we riot:

Usher announced as Super Bowl 58 halftime show headliner with help from Kim Kardashian, Deion Sanders and more

Usher is headlining the Super Bowl 58 halftime show in Vegas.

Want to see something cool? Watch this.

We finally got an answer to who’s headlining the Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII halftime show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 11, and it’s none other than Usher.

Apple announced the You Got It Bad singer as the headliner in different edited versions of the classic video for his 2004 hit Confessions, Pt. II. Kim Kardashian, Deion Sanders, Marshawn Lynch, Odell Beckham Jr. and even Usher himself were all enlisted to act out the scenes in between Usher’s sketch from the old video, but instead of telling him about what happened with the chick from Part 1, they pretend to tell him about the Super Bowl.

Usher makes a lot of sense for the Vegas Super Bowl for several reasons. In addition to the countless hit songs he has to perform, he’s been doing a residency in Vegas for the last year that’s been so successful it was recently extended through December.

Usher follows Rihanna, Dr. Dre and The Weeknd as the most recent Super Bowl halftime show headliners.

Peter King predicts Bills-Eagles Super Bowl LVIII matchup in 2023

Peter King predicts #Bills-#Eagles Super Bowl LVIII matchup in 2023:

Longtime NFL writer Peter King has made his Super Bowl LVIII prediction ahead of the start of the 2023 season.

It involves the Buffalo Bills.

During his Week 1 unveil for Football Morning In America, the Bills were one of King’s two teams he predicts to faceoff in the upcoming Super Bowl.

However, the good news stops there.

King’s full prediction is that the Philadelphia Eagles will be the other team… and winner.

King’s full analysis on his prediction can be found below:

I’m buying Philly stock. I don’t think there’s a clear weakness on the Eagles. Corner depth, maybe. Backup quarterback. But the offensive line is top-three in the league, defensive-front-seven depth is unrivaled and the quarterback is about to take his place with Mahomes and Joe Burrow at the very top of the QB pantheon. There’s no reason why Jalen Hurts doesn’t pick up where he left off in the postseason: 34.7 points per game in three starts, eight TDs produced, one turnover, going shot-for-shot with Mahomes in the Super Bowl. I have a Philly-Dallas NFC title game, which could be epic.

Peter Schrager picks Chiefs to win Super Bowl LVIII ahead of NFL kickoff on Thursday

Acclaimed analyst Peter Schrager predicted that the #Chiefs would win Super Bowl LVIII next February.

As if the expectations for the Kansas City Chiefs couldn’t get any higher, writers are already predicting the team to win Super Bowl LVIII ahead of Thursday night’s NFL kickoff.

Peter Schrager of FoxSports.com and Good Morning Football is the latest to pick Kansas City to pull off the back-to-back championship run after revealing his predictions on Thursday morning.

As part of his prediction, Schrager chose the San Francisco 49ers to be the Chiefs’ opponent for the championship matchup, guessing that the final score would be 34-28 in Kansas City’s favor and that the game would feature a late pick-six by second-year cornerback Trent McDuffie.

Chiefs fans will certainly hope that his forecast holds true, but with a long season ahead, anything could happen. Nonetheless, the fact that national writers are already piling on to the Chiefs’ sky-high expectations is a good indication that the media doesn’t think Kansas City has regressed since winning Super Bowl LVII in February.

ESPN simulation projects Ravens-Eagles Super Bowl matchup

ESPN is predicting the Baltimore #Ravens to go 11-6 and lose to the Philadelphia #Eagles in the Super Bowl via @Thacover2NFL

Philadelphia and Baltimore are separated by 100.6 miles of Interstate 95, but if this ESPN simulator is correct, both teams will reunite in Las Vegas for a February showdown.

Analytics expert Seth Walder used ESPN‘s Football Power Index (FPI) to simulate the season 20,000 times.

Using simulation No. 3,818, Baltimore finishes 11-6 and reaches the Super Bowl, where they fall to the Eagles.

In Week 2, the Ravens took an early edge in the division race by winning an 18-12 defensive struggle against the Bengals that dropped Cincy to 0-2. By Week 8, the Bengals had fought back, taking a half-game lead over Baltimore. But that’s when Jackson really got hot and engineered a four-game winning streak — including a 19-17 victory over the Bengals — reminding us of the Jackson who was once league MVP.

In the end, the Bengals couldn’t catch them. The Ravens won the division as an 11-win No. 3 seed, while the Bengals finished one game back as the No. 6 seed. The rivals squared off a third time in the playoffs, with the result mirroring the first two. Jackson flourished and the Ravens sacked Joe Burrow five times in a 31-19 defeat to send Cincinnati home.

In the Super Bowl, the Eagles’ defense — fueled by second-year defensive tackle Jordan Davis’ run-stuffing and linebacker Haason Reddick’s pass rush — stifled the Ravens’ offense. The Eagles won 14-10, and redemption for Super Bowl LVII was complete.

The simulator has Dallas earning the No. 2 overall pick, while the Panthers and Commanders reach the postseason with first-year starters.

ESPN simulation projects Eagles-Ravens Super Bowl matchup

ESPN is predicting the Philadelphia #Eagles to go 11-6 and defeat the Baltimore #Ravens in the Super Bowl

3,818, Philadelphia overcomes a 2-6 start to reach the Super Bowl, where they meet the AFC North, Ravens.

The FPI had the Eagles as Super Bowl favorites entering the season, but with just a 14% chance to win it all. That means 86% of the simulations had someone else winning the Super Bowl. What do those 86% look like? We’ll never know. Because a year after coming so close to beating the Chiefs for the Lombardi Trophy, the Eagles came back and finished the job.

But it was hardly straightforward.

Eight weeks into the season, the Eagles were 2-6, looking at a season on the brink. Star players battling injuries dampened the offense, cornerbacks Darius Slay and James Bradberry weren’t playing at the elite level they did in 2022 and the new starters at off-ball linebacker weren’t cutting it. Even the “Tush Push” stopped working.

The simulator has Dallas earning the No. 2 overall pick, while the Panthers and Commanders reach the postseason with first-year starters.

Peter King predicts the Eagles to defeat Bills in Super Bowl LVIII

Long time columnist Peter King explains on FMIA why he’s picking the Philadelphia #Eagles to defeat the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl LVIII

Peter King has been around many outstanding NFL teams, so fans and experts should take notice when he goes out on a limb to predict a Super Bowl confidently.

During his Week 1 unveil for Football Morning In America, King previewed the storylines and teams to watch, predicting a Philadelphia Eagles win over the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl LVIII.

King has San Francisco securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC, followed by Philadelphia, Detroit, Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle, and Green Bay.

The Birds defeat the Packers in the Wild Card move past Detroit in the divisional round, before taking out the 49ers on the road.

In the Super Bowl, King has the Eagles beating the Bills by four, as All-Pro Jalen Hurts earns his first regular season MVP award.

USA Today predicts Jets to reach Super Bowl LVIII following 12-win season

USA Today predicts Jets to reach Super Bowl LVIII following 12-win season

Expectations are high this season for the New York Jets. That much is beyond obvious at this point. Making the playoffs is the bare minimum now that Aaron Rodgers is in charge of the offense.

Well, we can chalk one person up at least that is really buying into the Jets this season. In his annual season predictions for USA Today, Nate Davis has the Jets finishing 12-5, second in the AFC East behind the 13-4 Buffalo Bills and claiming the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoffs. However, Davis believes the Jets will get the last laugh in the AFC, predicting New York to defeat Jacksonville, Buffalo and Cincinnati to win the Lamar Hunt Trophy as AFC champions and reach Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in the big game.

They were in the thick of the AFC wild-card race well into December until the league’s worst quarterback play torpedoed them with a season-ending six-game losing streak. That won’t be the case in 2023 amid the arrival of Rodgers, coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, WR Allen Lazard and other former Packers who are implementing an offense that helped the four-time MVP to two of those awards in 2020 and 2021. A merely passable offense will be a boon to a defense that ranked fourth overall last year despite getting little help. The readiness of second-year RB Breece Hall (ACL) and a challenging schedule will likely be early obstacles. But plugging Rodgers into this situation seems for more akin to Brady joining the Bucs or Stafford going to the Rams than the disastrous first year of Wilson’s marriage to the Broncos in 2022. If that proves remotely true, the Jets will have the best quarterback in club history (sorry, Joe Namath) and their first Super Bowl trip in 55 years.

Not only a trip to the Super Bowl but knocking off the Bills, who Davis predicts will be the No. 1 seed in the AFC, followed by Cincinnati and then Kansas City. That would be quite a run for the Jets in their first season with Rodgers, though it would be a very bittersweet ending to lose in the Super Bowl. In any event, Davis is predicting quite a season for the Jets.
