Patrick Mahomes is totally unfazed by jokes about his ‘Kermit’ voice

We could ALL learn something from Mahomes!

Patrick Mahomes has half a decade of being one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks. So, by now, many are familiar with his on and off-field idiosyncracies. One of the more notable is Mahomes’ unique speaking voice — one that occasionally draws lots of jokes and is seemingly imitated well by Andy Reid.

On Monday, during Super Bowl Opening Night, Mahomes was asked to clarify his feelings about when people make fun of his voice. Not only have folks apparently teased him about it all of his life, he said he doesn’t care about it anymore.

At this point, Mahomes’ voice is just who he is:

I can’t be sure, but that’s a man who once faced cruel teasing in elementary school and eventually learned the timeless phrase, “sticks and stones may break and bones, but words can never hurt me.” (Have we ever rethought the phrasing of this lesson we teach kids? Anyone?)

One thing’s for sure: We could all learn something from Mahomes’ mentality about a huge part of his identity.

Andy Reid’s face lit up with joy when asked about his famous airport mac and cheese

Reid was so HAPPY to talk delicious mac and cheese!

Andy Reid’s got a Super Bowl to get ready for, but that doesn’t mean he’s opposed to taking a break to discuss his famous mac and cheese recipe.

During Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs head coach was asked to recall his now-famous mac and cheese recipe he once shared with Yahoo reporter — and former For The Win writer — Charles McDonald while sitting in an airport.

On an evening filled with “boring” questions about football and schemes, the joy on Reid’s face the moment he heard McDonald’s question was palpable.

And it’s important you know that five kinds of cheese are good, but seven is even better:

Incredible. I love that Reid also notes he could simply pull up his phone and find the exact recipe specifics if he wanted to.

What else is stored in the tiny digital supercomputer of an offensive genius? What other culinary delights has Reid not yet shared with the football world? Perhaps, with vital in-depth investigative reporting, we’ll one day find out.

Patrick Mahomes forgot about Valentine’s Day thanks to the Super Bowl and NFL fans totally get it

Mahomes might be a romantic, but it’s the Super Bowl!

Most understand Patrick Mahomes as a quarterback who will usually dot all of his i’s and cross all of his t’s. He’s someone who will use his past failures as great motivation, too. But as his third career Super Bowl berth looms this Sunday, it looks like the star signal-caller forgot a crucial upcoming detail — Valentine’s Day.

Oh, buddy. Oh, no!

To be fair to Mahomes, with the NFL implementing a 17-game regular-season schedule, the Super Bowl will probably bump up close to Valentine’s Day every year now. (It falls on the Tuesday after this year.)

Still, watching Mahomes’ face and ensuing frantic honesty when he realized the holiday was actually coming up soon was absolute gold:

On the one hand, having a romantic day with your significant other is very important. On the other, it’s always possible Mahomes — who, yes, has played in three of the last four Super Bowls — never appears in one again.

So, if Mahomes temporarily forgot about Valentine’s Day now, I totally get it. Sometimes you just get so locked in with work, right? Right? Plus, he’ll probably still pull off something lovely and magical for both the Big Game and the Big Romance Day.

Cooper Manning and Jason Kelce totally vibed over their respective sibling rivalries

The Mannings and Kelces have a LOT in common.

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce found a kindred spirit during the opening night of Super Bowl 57’s media availability.

Cooper Manning, the brother of NFL legendary quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning, talked with Jason Kelce about what it’s like to have a brother also playing in the pros.

As you all know, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs will be on the opposing sideline when Jason Kelce and the Eagles take the field on Sunday.

The Kelces are going to be fierce rivals this week, and Cooper Manning has had a fierce rivalry with his two Hall of Fame brothers his entire life. A Manning and a Kelce meeting during Super Bowl week just couldn’t be more perfect.

They also got to share a great laugh about the faux-hatred they have that drives the sibling rivalries.

Hey, while Cooper Manning didn’t make it to the pros, his son Arch Manning is about to embark on a college football career at Texas this fall.

One day, Cooper Manning might get bragging rights if Arch Manning follows in his uncles’ footsteps. Until then, Jason Kelce can help Cooper Manning get a good laugh about what it’s like to admire (and despise) your brother from afar.

Chiefs DT Khalen Saunders’ impression of Patrick Mahomes was hilariously spot-on

Okay, that’s scarily accurate.

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Khalen Saunders absolutely nailed his impression of his quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

During Monday night’s Super Bowl 57 media availability, Saunders gave a pool of reporters what he thought was his best Mahomes impersonation.

Sauders chose to mimic Mahomes’ signature hand motion he makes as he walks back from the sideline once he hears what the play is going to be.

It’s one of those quirks that you might not think about first when you think of impersonating Mahomes, but Saunders knows him much better than most of us do.

His homage to his quarterback’s pre-huddle mannerism was just aces.

Alright, that’s hilarious and incredibly accurate!

Hats off to Saunders for his stellar impression, one that we’re going to be thinking about well after the Super Bowl is over.

If Mahomes does this hand motion after he hears what the offensive play call is going to be, we’re going to be thinking of Saunders.

Donna Kelce was the best mom ever for bringing cookies to the Kelce brothers’ interview

Nothing can beat moms!

More than most, Donna Kelce might have the best week of anyone coming up.

Her sons, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs and Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles, are squaring off in Super Bowl 57. She’s already talked about what it means to see her boys playing in America’s biggest sporting event while the two embrace the “Kelce Bowl” themselves.

About halfway through Super Bowl opening night, the brothers shared the stage during an interview with Michael Irvin. When Mama Kelce was invited up on stage, she simply couldn’t resist her motherly instincts to ensure everyone’s fed.

That’s right: she brought Tupperware filled with cookies.

Leave it to an awesome mom to bring cookies to the Big Important Football Game Show, where everyone’s talking about topics like “legacy” and “growing the sport.”

Is there anything in the world that can beat a caring mom? I’m pretty confident the answer is a firm “no.”

Travis Kelce showed he has his priorities right with answer about his brother’s wife’s near full-term pregnancy

Is this Jason Kelce’s Matrix?

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce used a movie reference to help describe what might happen if his brother’s wife goes into labor during Super Bowl 57.

As you’ve heard, Jason Kelce and the Philadelphia Eagles will face off against Travis Kelce and the Chiefs on Sunday for the Lombardi. However, much more important is the fact that Kylie Kelce is expecting her and Jason Kelce’s new baby.

There is a possibility that Kylie Kelce could go into labor during the game, which is why Jason Kelce said she’ll be attending the game with her OB-GYN.

During Monday’s Super Bowl opening night, Travis Kelce shared that his brother will be running the world if his wife goes into labor during the big game, drawing a metaphor from the 1999 sci-fi/action classic The Matrix to make his point.

Hey, we might already be in Jason Kelce’s Matrix as far as we know. That’s the point of The Matrix, after all.

As special as it would be to win a Super Bowl and add a new member of your family on the same day, we’re betting the Kelce family wouldn’t mind having a little breathing room between both huge milestones.

Patrick Mahomes was extremely honest about how much he thinks of his Super Bowl loss

Mahomes clearly doesn’t want to feel the pain of a Super Bowl defeat again.

Patrick Mahomes might be the NFL’s best quarterback, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t human. Despite everything he’s accomplished in his young career thus far, the Kansas City Chiefs superstar has an appropriate perspective about how much further he has to go.

During Super Bowl Opening Night, Mahomes was asked about his past Big Game experiences and what he’s looking for from Sunday’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Mahomes first shared a frank answer about what it meant to him to win Super Bowl 54 before feeling the “sting” from Super Bowl 55.

It’s not exactly an answer you’d expect from the face of the league, but it is refreshing to hear from an elite football player nonetheless:

It’s been over two years since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers snatched away Mahomes’ last shot at a title. If he’s still thinking about it and channeling the energy of that defeat — the Eagles better watch out on Sunday.

There are few things scarier than an angry Mahomes firing on all cylinders.
