Seahawks injury updates: Geno Smith, Jordyn Brooks, Damien Lewis

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll gave updates on a few minor injuries after his team’s win on Sunday.

The Seahawks have come out relatively unscathed from their last two Hollywood-worthy comeback wins, with only a few minor injuries to keep up on. The team’s two biggest problems right now are both in the secondary. Standout rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon remains sidelined by a “really painful” hip pointer injury, while strong safety Jamal Adams has also missed the last two games with his knee issue. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters last week the team has considered shutting Adams down for the season.

As for the new injuries, on Sunday the Seahawks suffered at least two: Carroll says linebacker Jordyn Brooks re-aggravated an old ankle sprain, while left guard Damien Lewis left with a sore knee. As for quarterback Geno Smith – who sat out the previous two games with a groin issue – there’s nothing new to report.

If Brooks has to miss significant time with his ankle injury, Devin Bush will get what would have been his snaps. Bush played well against the Titans after Brooks went down.

We will learn more when the first injury report of the week comes out tomorrow night.

The Seahawks are getting good at this whole thriller thing. For the second straight week, Seattle has pulled off a dramatic come-from-behind win thanks to a late game-winning drive. Last week it was Drew Lock, this time it was Geno Smith leading the Seahawks to victory by a score of 20-17.

Here are some of our favorite photos from today’s game.

Seahawks list Jordyn Brooks as questionable to return vs. Titans

Now the Seahawks are listing him as questionable to return with an ankle injury.

The Seahawks just started the second quarter of a scoreless classic trap game against the Titans. More bad news – Jordyn Brooks may be done for the day.

Brooks was spotted on the CBS broadcast limping off the field with the aid of two trainers then put in the blue medical tent. Now the Seahawks are listing him as questionable to return with an ankle injury.

The next man up at linebacker for Seattle is Devin Bush, who was already putting in a significant role as a big nickel linebacker against the Titans run game. Now Bush will be gettting an even more significant role, at least as long as Brooks remains out.

The Titans lead 7-0 courtesy of a trick play touchdown pass by Derrick Henry.

6 things to know about Seattle and Tennessee

Seahawks 53-man roster tracker: 2 DBs elevated

Week 16 preview and prediction: Seahawks @ Titans

The Titans have a frustratingly unique ability to drag teams down into the mud with them and make games ugly.

The Seattle Seahawks are making the journey to the Music City for the first time since the 2017 season. There, they will take on the Tennessee Titans. Seattle is looking to extend their winning ways, and snap a two-game losing streak to Tennessee – as they won 33-27 and 33-30 in the previous meetings.

Under head coach Mike Vrabel, the Titans have been routinely in the AFC playoff picture, even earning No. 1 seed honors in 2021. However, they are in the midst of another disappointing, injury riddled season like last year. At 5-9, Tennessee has officially been eliminated from postseason contention. They will also be without rising star rookie quarterback Will Levis.

However, this is a team to not look past. This has potential trap game written all over it. The Titans have a frustratingly unique ability to make opponents play down to their level. The way Tennessee is able to drag teams down into the mud with them makes them dangerous in their own right. If the Seahawks get too bogged down with needless penalties and missed opportunities, this could be a rather unfortunate Sunday for them.

Prediction: Seahawks over Titans 21-16

I expect a close game. The Titans are too well coached to be blown out by an NFC opponent who does not know them like other AFC rivals might. But the Seahawks have just restarted their season with a win over the Eagles last Monday night. With new life, I do expect them to do what is necessary to find a way to win.

This may not be the prettiest game, but style points do not matter in this league. Wins do. Seattle will do just enough to secure that outcome.

Seahawks Week 16 inactives: Jamal Adams and Devon Witherspoon OUT

Seahawks Week 16 inactives: Who’s sitting out vs. Titans?

Jamal Adams and several other Seahawks players have been ruled out for today’s game against the Titans.

The Seattle Seahawks are a little over an hour away from kicking off against the Tennessee Titans. At 7-7, this is a must-win for the Seahawks to keep pace with both the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card hunt.

We already knew safety Jamal Adams was ruled out earlier this week, and unfortunately cornerback Devon Witherspoon is joining him. The good news is quarterback Geno Smith will be active.

However, rookie quarterback Will Levis will not be playing for the Titans today. For an offense that routinely struggles to score points, losing their electric young signal caller is a huge blow.

The full inactives list for both team can be seen below:

Seahawks inactives

  • Dee Eskridge
  • Devon Witherspoon
  • Jamal Adams
  • Frank Clark Sr.
  • McClendon Curtis
  • Raiqwon O’Neal
  • Myles Adams

Titans inactives

  • Will Levis
  • Kyle Philips
  • Trevon Wesco
  • Daniel Brunskill
  • TK McClendon
  • Sean Murphy-Bunting
  • K’von Wallace

Tennessee is also without star defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, who was placed on injured reserve yesterday, ending his 2023 season.

Seahawks injury updates: Ken Walker expected to play vs. Titans

Walker is expected to play against the Titans today, according to Ian Rapoport at NFL Network.

Seahawks running back Ken Walker had a strong game against the Eagles last week, but he also suffered a minor shoulder injury. That issue kept him on the sidelines for practice on Wednesday and Thursday and he was listed as limited on Friday.

However, Walker is expected to play against the Titans today, according to Ian Rapoport at NFL Network.

Walker racked up 86 yards and one touchdown against Philadelphia, which was his best outing since Week 7 against the Cardinals. In between Walker missed a few weeks with an oblique injury and was mostly ineffective in the games he did play.

For the season, Walker is up to 720 yards on 176 carries (4.1 yards per attempt) and has scored seven touchdowns. As a receiver, he’s added 24 catches, 232 yards and and one touchdown.

Seahawks 53-man roster tracker: 2 DBs elevated from practice squad

The Seahawks announced their two practice squad elevations on Saturday ahead of today’s road game against the Titans.

The Seahawks announced their two practice squad elevations on Saturday ahead of today’s road game against the Titans. First, for the second week in a row rookie safety Ty Okada has been elevated. Okada adds extra depth at safety with Jamal Adams being ruled out for the second consecutive game with a knee injury. With Julian Love’s child being born just in time for him to make today’s game, Okada will likely only see work on special teams.

The team also elevated former Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph from the practice squad. That move offers insurance regarding rookie corner Devon Witherspoon’s status. Spoon is dealing with what head coach Pete Carroll has called a “really painful” hip pointer injury. He’s listed as questionable but most likely will not be playing today as he has not practiced in two weeks. Joseph played four games for the Dolphins earlier this season. No NFL team is deeper at cornerback than the Seahawks this season, so unless something goes terribly wrong we likely won’t see Joseph on defense, either.

Here’s the full updated 53-man roster by jersey number going into Week 16.
