Steph Curry reacts on social media after being cleared to return from injury

Stephen Curry went to social media after being cleared to return to the Warriors after missing 58 games due to injury.

After missing 58 games with the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry is scheduled to make his long-awaited return to the court. The Warriors cleared Curry to play against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night.

The two-time Most Valuable Player has gone through a long four-month rehab that recently led him to Santa Cruz.

Curry worked out with the Warriors G League affiliate in Santa Cruz for a day of practice. The six-time All-Star went through a five-on-five scrimmage against the Santa Cruz Warriors to ramp up his conditioning before returning to NBA action.

The Davidson product has been traveling with the Warriors on the road and going through a pregame shooting routine before his teammates take the floor.

Curry crossed off the final step in his recovery when Golden State officially cleared him to return when the defending champion Toronto Raptors come to Chase Center in San Francisco.

The three-time champion went to social media to celebrate his return to the court with an “about time” custom video.

Steph Curry to make official return from injury on Thursday vs. Raptors

It’s official, Stephen Curry is back.

It’s official — he’s back. After being out of the Golden State Warriors lineup for the past 58 games, Stephen Curry will make his long-awaited return to the floor against the defending champion Toronto Raptors on Thursday night.

Curry was injured when Aron Baynes of the Phoenix Suns fell on the two-time Most Valuable Player, breaking his hand on October 30, 2019, at Chase Center.

Curry has since gone through a long rehab with the last step coming on Tuesday in Santa Cruz. The six-time All-Star was assigned to Golden State’s G League affiliate in Santa Cruz. Curry practiced with the G League squad in a full-contact five-on-five scrimmage to simulate live game action and ramp up his conditioning.

After passing his final test, Curry was cleared by the Warriors to return against the Toronto Raptors in a nationally televised game on Thursday night.

In the four games before his injury, Curry was averaging 20.3 points, 6.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. During that span, the three-time NBA champion was shooting 40.9 % from the field and 24.3 % from beyond the arc.

Curry’s addition to the lineup will come as the Raptors make their first trip to the Bay Area since winning the NBA Championship at Oracle Arena last season.

Steve Kerr on Steph Curry’s nerve damage in hand: ‘Zero concern in terms of re-injuring anything’

Steve Kerr provided a positive update on Stephen Curry’s nerve damage in his injured hand.

The Golden State Warriors are being cautious with Stephen Curry’s injured hand. The two-time Most Valuable Player has only played in four games all season due to a broken left hand he suffered in late October. The Warriors have postponed Curry’s long-awaited return target of March 1 to a later date.

One of the looming questions around Curry’s injury has revolved around the nerve damage in his hand. The six-time All-Star spoke to reporters recently about finding a “new normal” when it comes to the adjustments he’s made from nerve damage in his hand.

Steve Kerr spoke to reporters about Curry’s recovery before the Warriors tipped off against the Phoenix Suns. Golden State’s coach Steve Kerr provided a positive update on the nerve damage in Curry’s hand.

Via Anthony Slater of The Athletic:

Zero concern in terms of re-injuring anything. It’s just a feel thing for Steph. It’s nerve damage, that term sounds terrible, but I think all it really refers too is that area just feels kind of numb to him. It’s not anything of concern for the training staff in terms of re-injuring or anything like that. It’s just Steph’s got to get used to a different feeling in his hand, that’s all.

With Curry already being ruled out for Golden State’s next two games on the schedule against the Wizards and Denver Nuggets, his updated return date could be as soon as March 5 when the Toronto Raptors come to San Francisco. The extra time will give Curry more opportunities to scrimmage with the Warriors while adjusting to his nerve damage.

Watch: Steph Curry knocks down pregame shots from Golden State logo

Before the Warriors tipped off against the Sacramento Kings, Stephen Curry knocked down some long-distance jumpers from the Golden State logo at Chase Center.

Stephen Curry has yet to return to Golden State Warriors game action, but he’s close. Curry is still dealing with the broken left-hand injury he suffered in late October. However, the Warriors point guard could return as soon as this weekend.

Leading up to Curry’s return to the court, the six-time NBA All-Star has climbed up several vital steps in his rehab. Curry has traveled with the Warriors on the road, participated in shooting workouts with the coaching staff, and most recently, he’s joined full-contact scrimmages at practice.

As Curry’s ramped up his rehab, the Golden State guard displayed one of his signature pregame shooting routines before the Warriors hosted the Sacramento Kings.

Curry knocked down a couple of long-distance shots from just inside the Chase Center midcourt logo. The Davidson product finished his pregame shooting workout with twirling corner 3-pointer from the baseline that was nothing but net.

Before bringing his electric shooting back to the court, Curry and his injured left-hand are scheduled to go through a re-evaluation.

If his evaluation goes smooth, Curry could return to the Golden State lineup on Sunday, March 1, against the Washington Wizards.

Report: Steph Curry scheduled to be re-evaluated Friday before return

Before Stephen Curry makes his long-awaited return to the starting lineup, his broken hand will be re-evaluated on February 28, according to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Stephen Curry has checked off many boxes when it comes to his broken left-hand rehab. The former Most Valuable Player has only played in four games all season. Yet as his rehab progresses to the final stages, his return is near.

Curry’s been traveling with his teammates on the road and participating in pregame warmups with the Warriors coaching staff. At practice, Curry has been shooting without any type of brace and has been taking part in full-contact scrimmages.

Sunday, March 1 has been the long-discussed target date for Curry’s return, but before he is officially cleared, the six-time All-Star will have one final test.

According to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, Curry will be re-evaluated by Golden State on Friday.

How Curry’s hand responds to Friday’s evaluation could be the key to his return. After his assessment, Golden State will play a weekend back-to-back at Chase Center in San Francisco against the Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards.

If Curry can return by the targeted March 1 game against the Wizards, the Golden State point guard will have 22 games remaining on the 2019-20 schedule.

Watch: Steph Curry puts on a shooting show at Warriors practice

While rehabbing his broken hand injury, Stephen Curry put on a show in the latest Golden State Warriors practice.

As the post-All-Star break portion of the Golden State Warriors season begins, all eyes will be on Stephen Curry. The two-time Most Valuable Player has only played four games all season due to a broken hand, but his long-awaited return could be nearing.

Over the past couple of months, Curry has jumped several hurdles in his road back to the court. Recently, the injured guard has been working out and traveling on the road with his teammates.

Curry has participated in portions of practice, but he’s yet to take part in contact drills. In a down season, the Warriors are using caution with their franchise player’s return.

The six-time All-Star may be dealing with an injury, but it hasn’t slowed down his picturesque jump shot. During Golden State’s practice at the end of the All-Star break, Curry put on a show when it came to shooting.

Via NBC Bay Area’s Anthony Flores:

Curry’s practice didn’t end with just shooting; the Davidson product was put through different drills with the Warriors coaching staff.

Via KNBR’s Jake Hutchinson:

Reports have targeted March as the time for Curry’s return to action, giving the point guard around 20 games with Golden State. Although the Warriors are out of the playoff picture entirely, Curry’s remaining time with Golden State in the 2019-20 season is precious.

The Warriors hopes of returning to the top of NBA standings next season rests on the health of Curry. How he responds after missing a significant chunk of the season is a question that needs to be answered in Golden State.

Steph Curry on a potential early March return from injury: ‘That’s the plan’

In a sideline interview during the Warriors game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Stephen Curry said he’s setting his return to action goal of early March.

Over the past week, the NBA trade deadline has dominated all headlines regarding the Golden State Warriors, and rightfully so. The Warriors traded All-Star guard D’Angelo Russell to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a blockbuster deal that shook the NBA world.

24-year-old swingman, Andrew Wiggins, and a pair of 2021 draft picks came back to Golden State in the four-player mega deal. Beyond the transaction with the Timberwolves, the Warriors traded a total of six players before the deadline expired.

With Russell gone and the second half of the season underway, all eyes shift to the return of Stephen Curry.

Curry’s only played in the first four games of the 2019-20 season, missing a significant amount of time with a broken left hand. Although his recovery has been long, the two-time Most Valuable Player is progressing towards a return to the court.

Golden State re-evaluated Curry in early February with reports pointing towards a March return from injury. In a sideline interview on ESPN’s broadcast of the Warriors game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Curry was asked if he’s hoping to be back by early March.

That’s the plan — it’s been the plan since surgery knowing the timeline with the injury as severe as it was — I’m not rushing, but I’m setting a goal that hopefully I can meet — first week of March to get back out on the floor with my teammates and hopefully end the season on a strong note.

With the Warriors record sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference, Golden State could be patient with Curry, even if he’s healthy. However, an early March return would give the All-Star guard around 20 games left on the season to build chemistry with his newest teammate, Wiggins.

Report: Injured Steph Curry goes through shooting workout brace free

Anthony Slater of The Athletic reported Stephen Curry was working out and shooting without a brace on his injured hand before the Warriors played the Milwaukee Bucks.

Stephen Curry has missed all but four games for the Golden State Warriors through the 2019-20 season due to injury, yet with each update, there seems to be positive news surrounding his broken left hand.

In early December, Curry had the pins removed from his surgically repaired hand, since then, the two-time Most Valuable Player has been able to be around his Golden State teammates with more consistency.

Throughout the season, Curry has been leading the charge from the Warriors’ bench, flying up and down Golden State’s sideline as the team’s lead hype man.

Recently, Steve Kerr told reporters that Curry is able to travel with the Warriors on the road — another productive sign regarding the recovery of his injured hand.

The positive news on the All-Star’s injury continued into the new year when Anthony Slater of The Athletic reported Curry was going through a shooting workout before the Warriors tipped-off against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Slater mentioned that Curry was working out with no brace or wrap on his left hand for the first time since injuring it in late October.

Another note Slater reported regarding Curry came from the Warriors practice before the team hosted Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks in San Francisco.

Hall of Fame point guard, Steve Nash, was in attendance for the practice, and he took place in a workout with Curry and Warriors’ assistant coach, Bruce Fraser.

According to Slater, Curry, Nash and Fraser started a shooting workout as reporters left the facility with the Davidson product using his left hand for the first time since injuring it against the Phoenix Suns.

There’s been no report if the Warriors plan to change Curry’s initial injury update period taking place in February, but from the outside, it looks like he’s progressing through his rehab.

With the Warriors record sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, there’s no need to rush Curry back to the court quickly. For Golden State, injuries to both “Splash Brothers,” Curry and Klay Thompson have turned their 2019-20 season outlook from playoff potential to developing young pieces.

Patience will be key in regards to Curry’s return to the Golden State Warriors’ rotation.

Injury Update: Steph Curry cleared to travel with Warriors on road

Steve Kerr told reporters that Warriors injured All-Star, Stephen Curry will be able to travel with the team on upcoming road trips.

After stacking one of the most consistent five-year runs in NBA history, 2019-20 is quite the change for the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors’ bottom of the standings record isn’t the most jarring change to Golden State, the fact Stephen Curry isn’t sprinting around the three-point line, launching shots from beyond the arc might be the most significant difference in the team’s first season in San Francisco’s new Chase Center.

Curry broke his left hand only four games in the 2019-20 season and has been relegated to the training table since late October.

The Warriors still plan on re-evaluating Curry’s hand in February, until then, Golden State will get a larger dose of the two-time Most Valuable Player on the sideline.

After getting pins removed from his surgically repaired hand in December, Curry was able to be around the Warriors on a more consistent basis— now in the new year, the All-Star guard has been cleared to travel with the team according to Steve Kerr.

Before the Warriors tipped off against the Detroit Pistons, Kerr told reporters Curry’s “definitely” able to travel with the team, but staying home may be the best place for him to continue his rehab.

I generally don’t ask guys to travel if they’re not going to play, especially because we have our facilities here for rehab — this is the best place for him to rehab in general.

Since Curry’s had the pins removed from his broken left hand, he’s been able to be around the team more often, whether that be on the bench for games, or at the practice facility. Multiple members of the Warriors mentioned there’s a different vibe when Curry is around the team, even from the bench, and now that energy could carry over to the road.

There are going to be road trips where Steph and Klay decide to come, but it’s more up to them and the training staff — I don’t have a requirement for anybody to come.

Kerr mentions Curry’s ability to travel at the 12:10 mark in the clip from his pregame press conference below.

Only winning three games away from home this season in 19 attempts, it’s safe to say Golden State can use any type of boost they can get while on the road.
