Nuggets’ Jamal Murray names Steph Curry as his hardest player to guard in the NBA

When asked who is his hardest player to guard in the NBA, Jamal Murray landed on Golden State’s two-time Most Valuable Player Steph Curry.

During the NBA’s run through the Orlando Bubble, Jamal Murray solidified himself as one of the league’s rising stars. The Kentucky product helped lead the Denver Nuggets past the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers in the postseason despite falling down 3-1 in each series.

Over 19 games in the 2020 playoffs, Murray averaged 26.5 points on 50.5% shooting from the field with 6.6 assists and 4.8 rebounds per contest. During the Disney World postseason, Nuggets wing shot 45.3% from beyond the arc on 7.2 long-distance attempts.

In the Nuggets’ game seven tilt against Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and the Clippers, the 23-year-old exploded for 40 points on 15-of-26 shooting from the field with six 3-pointers.

After being eliminated by the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, Murray joined Ashley Nevel for an interview on YouTube. During his conversation with Nevel, the 23-year-old revealed his toughest matchup to line up against the in the NBA. Murray listed a pair of reasons why Stephen Curry is his hardest player to guard in the NBA.

Via Ashley Nevel on YouTube:

Steph [Curry] is really hard to guard. One, because of his shot. Two, because you don’t know what he’s going to do. You don’t know if he’s just going to pull it. You don’t know if he’s going to just end up going by you — he’s going to cross you over six times and then shoot and look away. You have absolutely no clue what he’s going to do. I would have to go with him.

Watch Nevel’s full interview with Murray here.

Through Murray’s career, the Nuggets have lined up against Curry and the Golden State Warriors 10 times. During that span, the two-time Most Valuable Player registered 30 points in four contests. The Warriors hold a 7-3 record against the Nuggets since Denver drafted Murray in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft.

With the six-time All-Star ready to return to Steve Kerr’s rotation in 2020-21, the Warriors are expected to make a run back to the postseason. After their streak to the Conference Finals in 2020, Curry and Golden State will have to go through Murray, Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the mission back to the top of the West.

Report: Steph Curry joining Charles Barkley, Peyton Manning and Phil Mickelson at ‘The Match III’

Instead of Tom Brady, Steph Curry will join Charles Barkley and Peyton Manning at Phil Mickelson’s “The Match II” charity golf event.

Before he suits up for the Golden State Warriors next season, Steph Curry will pull out his golf clubs for a new edition of “The Match.”

According to Scott Soshnick of Sportico, the two-time Most Valuable Player will join Charles Barkley, Peyton Manning and Phil Mickelson at the charity match play golf event.

The celebrity golfers are scheduled to tee up for “The Match III: Champions for Change” on Friday, Nov. 27, per Sportico. Curry and Barkley are slated to replace the duo of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and defending Masters champion Tiger Woods.

Via @soshnick on Twitter:

In May’s The Match II, the combination of Brady, Manning, Woods, and Mickelson raised $20 million for COVID-19 relief. According to Sportico, HBCU universities are expected to be the beneficiaries of the Match III’s funds.

Via Sportico:

Per sources who’ve been involved with mapping out November’s event, historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) are expected to be the beneficiaries of this particular charitable endeavor.

After the last round of The Match, the Golden State point guard called for his place his next edition of the event. When discussing the future of the charity competition, Mickelson mentioned Curry as a potential participant.

With Curry in the field, Manning will have some competition when defending his Match championship. The five-time NBA All-Star is coming off a top-five finish at the American Century Championship celebrity tournament in Lake Tahoe.

Report: Steph Curry and Draymond Green ‘doubtful’ to participate in Warriors offseason minicamp

Both Steph Curry and Draymond Green are “doubtful” for the Golden State Warriors in-market offseason minicamp due to family reasons.

Although they’re not in the Orlando Bubble for the postseason, the Golden State Warriors will be back on the court soon. Starting next week, the Warriors will open up a mid-offseason minicamp.

On Monday, members of the Golden State Warriors will report to a team designated hotel in San Francisco for coronavirus testing and a 48-hour quarantine. Following the testing period, group workouts will take place at the Chase Center. The hotel and arena will serve as an in-market bubble for two weeks.

With the Warriors not included in the NBA’s Orlando Bubble plan, the minicamp will be the first time Steve Kerr’s squad will be on the floor together for organized basketball activities in six months. Yet, Golden State could be without a pair of All-Stars.

According to Wes Goldberg of the Bay Area News Group, both Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are “doubtful” for the Warriors minicamp due to “family reasons.”

Via @wcgoldberg on Twitter:

If Green and Curry can join Golden State’s camp after the start, both players are allowed to join the team anytime during the two-week camp after they clear coronavirus protocols, per Goldberg.

Although Curry and Green aren’t expected to be inside Golden State’s edition of the Bubble, Klay Thompson could rejoin his teammates for the first time since injuring his knee in the 2019 NBA Finals.

The Warriors offseason minicamp will allow Kerr and Bob Myers to see a healthy Thompson alongside Golden State’s 2019 arrivals Andrew Wiggins, Eric Paschall and Marquese Chriss.

With a bevy of questions surrounding the Warriors prior to their early entrance to the offseason, getting the players back on the court could provide some clarity after an extended layoff.

Steph Curry had ‘major FOMO’ watching the first week of games at the Orlando Bubble

During the first week of NBA restart action in the Orlando Bubble, Stephen Curry admitted he had “major FOMO.”

After leading the Golden State Warriors to five consecutive trips to the NBA Finals, Stephen Curry has spent most of the 2019-20 season on the sidelines. After missing a majority of the season with a hand injury he suffered in October, Curry’s return to the court was limited to only one game after the league was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Fast forward to the NBA’s restart in August, Curry’s Warriors are one of the eight teams on the outside of the Orlando Bubble. With no games on the calendar for an extended period of time, Curry is missing hoops.

In an interview with Marc Stein of the New York Times, Curry revealed he had “major FOMO” watching games at Disney World. During the first week of seeding games in the NBA’s Orlando Bubble, Curry admitted he suffered from the fear of missing out.

Via The New York Times:

Obviously I was happy to see basketball back on TV, but that first week I had major FOMO.

Once you see Bron and Kawhi and P.G. go at it, and you remember how much fun it is to play in those types of games and that kind of level, you miss it badly.

Until the Warriors are able to schedule an offseason mini-camp, Curry will have to settle his hoops fix at individual workouts.

While a group of teams are contending for playoff position in the Orlando Bubble, Curry has been working out in preparation for his long-awaited return to the court. A recent video was shared of the two-time Most Valuable Player throwing down a one-handed alley-oop dunk.

When he’s not in the gym, the six-time All-Star has been chiming in on what’s going on at Disney World. Whether it’s welcoming Joel Embiid to the Under Armour signature shoe family or commenting on his former teammate Andre Iguodala’s play, Curry has been following along with the NBA’s restart.

While 22 teams are battling in the Orlando Bubble, Warriors point guard Steph Curry is working on his dunking repertoire.

While 22-teams are capping off the stretch run of seeding games in the Orlando Bubble, the Golden State Warriors are at home. With the league’s worst record, the Warriors are one of eight teams not involved with the NBA’s restart plans.

Despite Golden State entering offseason mode, Stephen Curry is staying active in the gym. On Friday, the Warriors point guard shared a video from the gym where he welcomed Joel Embiid to the Under Armour family.

The following day, more video surfaced from Curry’s workout. Kris Stone shared a clip of Curry throwing down a one-handed alley-oop dunk. Curry’s longtime trainer Brandon Payne provided the dish.

Via @gswchris on Twitter:

After his workout, Curry chimed in on Instagram with his own reaction to the dunk. With a shoutout to the teams at Disney World, Curry wrote “non bubble legs!!!!”

Curry last suited up for the Warriors on March 7 against the Toronto Raptors. Prior to his tilt with the defending champs, the two-time Most Valuable Player missed the previous 58 games due to a hand injury he suffered in October 2019.

With plans of a second bubble still being discussed, Curry and the Warriors will have an extended layoff before they return to the floor in 2020. With no hoops on the calendar, Curry will have plenty of time to rest his legs and add more dunks to his offensive repertoire.
