The NBA’s Larry O’Brien Trophy and the NHL’s Stanley Cup recently shared an iconic lunch at Katz’s Delicatessen in New York City.
Before the 2023 NBA Finals begin on June 1, the Larry O’Brien Trophy is currently in the midst of an “epic journey” around the world. So far, that has included stops at the PGA Championship, the Westminster Dog Show, the F1 Miami Grand Prix, the Kentucky Derby, and more.
You can follow along with all of the adventures via the trophy’s new social media accounts (@nbafinalstrophy) but the latest stop at the world-famous deli was the most delicious yet:

The MLB Commissioner’s Trophy and the MLS Philip F. Anschutz Trophy also made a cameo in the video.
If this location seems familiar, it’s because the trophies were seated together at the same restaurant Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan sat in during one of the most memorable scenes of the 1989 romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally.

Vegas really likes the Boston Bruins’ odds to win a Stanley Cup.
With the 2023 NHL playoffs right around the corner, Vegas thinks the Boston Bruins have the best odds of any team to hoist the Stanley Cup.
As of Friday, Bet MGM has Boston with +350 odds to win the NHL title this year, with the Colorado Avalanche (+700), Edmonton Oilers (+900) and Toronto Maple Leafs (+900) right behind the Bruins.
Boston sits atop the NHL with 135 points and a 65-12-5 record heading into the playoffs, the team positioned as a buzzsaw on its way to a Stanley Cup.
Vegas likes Boston much more than the team in its backyard, the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Sportsbooks puts the Golden Knights with +1200 odds to win a title.

A Boston/Colorado Stanley Cup series would put a 2022-23 powerhouse against a recent title winner, and Vegas thinks it’d be the Bruins who would take the cake in that heated matchup.
No matter which way you slice it, Boston is veering toward another Stanley Cup. If you’re going to put down odds on an underdog, now’s the time.
The Avalanche have only just begun partying with the Stanley Cup.
The Colorado Avalanche have only just begun partying after winning the Stanley Cup.
Thursday was the Avalanche’s Stanley Cup parade, where the team took their newly won Stanley Cup and toted it around the streets of Denver to celebrate with their fans. And what a parade it was! Bowen Byram was mistaken for a fan and got stopped by police. Nazem Kadri trolled the hockey world with a brilliant “too many men” shirt.
What more could you ask for from a Stanley Cup parade, honestly?
To honor the Avalanche’s hard-earned Stanley Cup win and subsequent jubilant celebration, here are the best photos from Colorado’s championship parade.
We won in hockey, now let’s do it in football!
Denver Broncos players celebrated the Colorado Avalanche winning the Stanley Cup on Sunday night on Twitter.
After the Broncos’ official Twitter account tweeted out congratulations to the city’s hockey team, several Broncos players jumped in on the fun. “Turn the lights off,” The Broncos official Twitter account tweeted. “CARRY THE CUP HOME!”

On Sunday night, the Colorado Avalanche downed the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final. It’s the former’s third championship in franchise history.
From newly-acquired quarterback Russell Wilson to rookie edge rusher Nik Botinno, a slew of Broncos players congratulated the Avalanche players.
Three-peating as Stanley Cup champions is quite hard to do.
It’s very difficult to win the Stanley Cup, let alone multiple championships in a row.
Not many NHL teams have won back-to-back Stanley Cups in league history, and far fewer have three-peated as the best hockey team in the world. It takes a special kind of team to three-peat in the NHL, especially in the modern age with the salary cap hindering great teams from staying together.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are on the cusp of a three-peat as the 2022 Stanley Cup Final begins, but their name has not been etched into the history books just yet. That being said, there have been a handful of teams across the years that have won three consecutive Stanley Cups, some of them even winning four or five in a row!
Let’s take a look at the NHL’s most exclusive club: three-peat champions!
Predicting the 2022 Stanley Cup Final between the Lightning and Avalanche
No greater feeling for a hockey player.
Former Notre Dame defenseman [autotag]Ian Cole[/autotag] is in his ninth Stanley Cup playoffs. His name is etched on the Cup twice from his days with the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, he never has had the thrill of scoring a game-winning goal, let alone an overtime goal, in the playoffs. That just changed in Game 1 of his Carolina Hurricanes’ Eastern Conference semifinal series against the New York Rangers:
The goal looks less like one you’d see from an NHL player than one that’s scored in pick-up street hockey. But what else are you supposed to do when you scored only twice during the regular season and have 29 goals over 12 seasons? It really doesn’t matter though because whatever the Hurricanes do for the rest of the playoffs, Cole will have this memory forever. There’s no greater feeling than to find the back of the net when the stakes are raised and three periods weren’t enough to decide a winner.
Game 2 between the Hurricanes and Rangers will be played Friday.

Here are some guys to root for in the postseason.
Once again, it’s time for the annual competition for the Stanley Cup, the most magnificent trophy in sports. Although the slight shift in the NHL calendar means the playoffs are beginning later than we’re used to, that doesn’t make the anticipation for the most intense hockey of the year any less. Even if your team didn’t make it in this year, the high blood pressure that comes with watching these games, especially those that go into overtime, will be present. Hockey fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you’re a Notre Dame hockey fan, three players who have gone through the program are on the playoff rosters for their respective teams. More of them could join after their AHL teams’ seasons end or if any other needs arise. That gives Irish fans plenty of opportunities to be happy at who wins the Cup. For now, here are the three players to watch for:
Brandon Hagel goes exactly what he’s worth.
Brandon Hagel was going to be traded. That much was clear.
From new Chicago Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson calling for a rebuild to Hagel’s cheap contract to the list of Stanley Cup contenders thirsting for point-producers, there was no shot the 23-year-old would end the season in the Windy City.
Especially not after posting 21 goals and 16 assists through 55 games with the Hawks this year.
A trade was only a matter of time. Chicago knew it. The leaguer’s contenders knew it. Hagel knew it.
On Friday, the Tampa Bay Lightning ponied up to acquire the forward, sending two first round picks along with fringe players Boris Katchouk and forward Taylor Raddysh. It was a solid return for Chicago and one Tampa could’ve reasonably expected to give up. All the Lightning had to do was listen to what Hagel said about his trade value three weeks ago.
Speaking after another breakout performance, Hagel came pretty close to nailing exactly what the asking price was for his services:
Brandon Hagel joking about his trade value going up: “Two firsts, couple prospects. McDavid, maybe, I don’t know.” pic.twitter.com/lbWHLC2BOe
— Phillip Thompson (@_phil_thompson) February 26, 2022
OK, so the Hawks didn’t land McDavid in the deal—which, we agree, might’ve been overpaying a bit—but Hagel got it right when he said it would take two first-rounders and two prospects for Chicago to deal him.
With the Lightning’s Stanley Cup window as wide open as it’ll ever get, the back-to-back champions don’t really need to second guess themselves here, either.
Tampa Bay is +750 to win a third consecutive Cup at Tipico Sportsbook and those odds may only get shorter by the time the trade deadline passes on March 21. In the meantime, Hagel can start polishing up his GM resume for when his playing days are done.
He’s clearly got a future here.
