The NBA and NHL recreated this iconic When Harry Met Sally scene with their championship trophies

The NBA’s Larry O’Brien Trophy and the Stanley Cup had an iconic lunch at Katz’s Delicatessen.

The NBA’s Larry O’Brien Trophy and the NHL’s Stanley Cup recently shared an iconic lunch at Katz’s Delicatessen in New York City.

Before the 2023 NBA Finals begin on June 1, the Larry O’Brien Trophy is currently in the midst of an “epic journey” around the world. So far, that has included stops at the PGA Championship, the Westminster Dog Show, the F1 Miami Grand Prix, the Kentucky Derby, and more.

You can follow along with all of the adventures via the trophy’s new social media accounts (@nbafinalstrophy) but the latest stop at the world-famous deli was the most delicious yet:

The MLB Commissioner’s Trophy and the MLS Philip F. Anschutz Trophy also made a cameo in the video.

If this location seems familiar, it’s because the trophies were seated together at the same restaurant Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan sat in during one of the most memorable scenes of the 1989 romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally.

7 sports movies people wrongly think are rom-coms

Stop the madness, people.

We’ve all been there: It’s movie night with your friends or significant other and you’re in the mood for a classic sports flick. The problem is some of the most exceptional athletic feats ever captured on film have been carelessly categorized into another genre: The Rom-Com.

Listen, there’s nothing wrong with romantic comedies. I love the Holy Chrises — Evans, Hemsworth and Pine — and I LIVE for those celebrity-loaded movies where they juggle 12 different storylines only to tie it all together at the end. But it’s time for some of the best sports films of our generation to finally get the credit they deserve.
