Cincinnati Reds at St. Louis Cardinals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Cincinnati Reds at St. Louis Cardinals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cincinnati Reds (70-75) and St. Louis Cardinals (72-71) open up a 3-game series Tuesday at Busch Stadium at 7:45 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s MLB odds around the Reds vs. Cardinals odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Reds lead 6-4

The Reds come to town having won 2 in a row and 6 of 8. They had a quick, 1-game stop in Atlanta Monday and took down the Atlanta Braves 1-0. RHP Nick Martinez tossed 7 shutout frames, allowing just 2 hits with 5 K’s. A cause for concern is SS Elly De La Cruz is 6-for-30 (.200) with 15 K’s this month.

The Cards got worked by the Seattle Mariners, dropping 2 of 3 at home, including a 10-4 yawnfest Sunday. RHP Miles Mikolas gave up 7 runs before most of the sparse crowd made it to their seats, and they never had a chance. They’re now 6½ out of a Wild Card spot.

Reds at Cardinals projected starters

RHP Rhett Lowder vs. RHP Andre Pallante

Lowder (0-1, 0.87 ERA) makes his 3rd start. He has a 1.36 WHIP, 7.0 BB/9 and 7.8 K/9 in 10 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 4 BB, 3 K Thursday
  • Has never faced Cardinals
  • Throws a 4-seamer (93.8 mph avg. velo), a sinker, slider and changeup

Pallante (6-7, 4.07 ERA) makes his 17th start (26th appearance). He has a 1.36 WHIP, 3.7 BB/9 and 6.6 K/9 in 97 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 5 ER, 5 H, 5 BB, 3 K against Milwaukee Brewers Sept. 2
  • Stats as a starter: 6-6, 3.81 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 6.7 K/9
  • 4 career starts vs. Reds: 4-0, 1.25 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 18 K in 21 2/3 IP

Reds at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 4, Reds 3

Moneyline

Pallante has been the team’s best starter over the last couple of months, and he has been great against the Reds. He has tossed 11 1/3 shutout IP with 9 K’s in 2 starts this year. The Cards don’t hit guys without much tape, like Lowder, but he doesn’t have the swing-and-miss stuff and walks too many.

Take the CARDINALS (-130).

Run line/Against the spread

The Cards have been hot garbage at throwing out attempted base stealers. C Ivan Herrera has thrown out 4 of 51 potential base stealers (7.3%), and C Pedro Pages has clipped 10 of 47 would-be thieves (17.5%).

If De La Cruz gets on first, he’s gone. Take a chance on ELLY DE LA CRUZ OVER 0.5 STOLEN BASES (+110).

Over/Under

It’s slated to be 85 degrees with a 6-mph breeze blowing from right to left field. The Under is 3-7 in the last 10 meetings. The Reds are 4-6 O/U in their last 10, and the Cards are 6-3-1.

LEAN UNDER 8 (-110).

After losing 6-1 on Friday, St. Louis picked up a 2-0 win over Seattle Saturday while covering as a +119 home underdog thanks to a 2-run shot from C Pedro Pages in the 8th inning.

RHP Logan Gilbert was the hard-luck loser (8 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 10 K). The loss ended a 3-game win streak for the Mariners.

Mariners at Cardinals projected starters

RHP Luis Castillo vs. RHP Miles Mikolas

Castillo (11-12, 3.60 ERA) makes his 30th start. He has a 1.15 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 9.0 K/9 in 172 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 7 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 5 K in a 3-2 loss at Oakland A’s Tuesday

  • Over/Under (O/U): 7.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Mariners at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 4, Mariners 2

Moneyline

BET CARDINALS (+105).

St. Louis is the hotter team, being 7-3 in its last 10 overall and 3-1 in its last 4 at home, while the Mariners are only 3-5 in their last 8 overall. The Cardinals have also won 2 of their last 3 meetings vs. Seattle.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

The Cardinals should cover here as +1.5 (-165) underdogs, but their odds are  better on the moneyline.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 7.5 (+100).

The Under has hit in 3 of St. Louis’ last 4 home games. The Under is also 4-2-1 in the last 7 Mariners-Cardinals meetings.

This is a lean as the Over is 5-4-1 in St. Louis’ last 10 games. The O/U is 4-4-2 in the last 10 matchups between these squads.

Seattle Mariners at St. Louis Cardinals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Seattle Mariners at St. Louis Cardinals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Seattle Mariners (71-70) and St. Louis Cardinals (71-69) open up a 3-game series Friday at Busch Stadium at 8:15 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mariners vs. Cardinals odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Mariners won 2-1 last year

The M’s won the final 2 games to split the 4-game series at the Oakland A’s. That snapped a 4-game losing streak. The Mariners won 6-4 Thursday as OF Julio Rodriguez hit his 14th homer of the season. He has failed to mash all year, but he has parked 3 balls since Aug. 28. They remain 4½ out in the AL West.

The Cards had Thursday off after taking 2 of 3 from the division-leading Milwaukee Brewers. It took 5 months to happen, but 1B Paul Goldschmidt is finally looking like a pigment of his former self. He’s hitting .438 with 2 homers, 8 doubles and 9 RBIs over the last 15 days for a 1.200 OPS. Despite winning 6 of their last 8, the Cards haven’t gained much ground and remain 5 games out of a Wild Card berth.

Mariners at Cardinals projected starters

RHP Bryce Miller vs. RHP Erick Fedde

Miller (10-8, 3.30 ERA) makes his 28th start. He has a 1.00 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9 and 8.5 K/9 in 155 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 4 K in 3-2 setback Sunday at Los Angeles Angels
  • Has never faced Cardinals
  • Road/Home splits: 4-5, 4.82 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 6.5 K/9 in 13 road GS; 6-3, 2.03 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 10.2 K/9 in 14 home GS

Fedde (8-8, 3.43 ERA) makes his 28th start. He has a 1.16 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 8.0 K/9 in 154 2/3 IP with the Chicago White Sox and Cardinals.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 8 K in 6-3 defeat Aug. 30 at New York Yankees
  • Two GS vs. Mariners this year: 0-1, 11 IP, 4 ER (3.27 ERA), 11 H, 3 BB, 8 K

Who’s going yard? Here’s a breakdown of today’s best home run props with our top picks. Include the BetMGM bonus code SBWIRE to score a $1,500 first-bet offer.

Mariners at Cardinals odds

Provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:20 p.m. ET.

  • Moneyline (ML): Mariners -110 (bet $110 to win $100) | Cardinals -110 (bet $110 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Mariners -1.5 (+165) | Cardinals +1.5 (-200)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 7.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Mariners at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 3, Mariners 2

Moneyline

Fedde hasn’t been very good with the Cards, but he has been good at home. In 2 GS, he has allowed 3 ER in 10 2/3 IP (2.53 ERA) at Busch. The Cards’ pen is rested after the off-day, and I expect this to be a tight one. The Cards are 26-18 in 1-run games, and the M’s are 23-24. Take the CARDINALS -110.

Run line/Against the spread

This one is a no-brainer here. Goldy has hit safely in 11 straight games and at one point had an 8-game double streak. Take PAUL GOLDSCHMIDT OVER 0.5 TOTAL BASES (-165).

Over/Under

It’s slated to be 75 degrees with a 14-mph wind blowing in from left-center. The Cards are tied for 18th at 4.2 R/game, and the M’s are just behind tied for 25th at 4.1. So we have 2 weak offenses with a severe breeze blowing in.

Take the UNDER 7.5 (-120).

St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The St. Louis Cardinals (70-69) and Milwaukee Brewers (81-58) play the finale of a 3-game series Wednesday at American Family Field at 7:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cardinals vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 8-4

The Cards outlasted the Brewers 7-4 in 12 innings Tuesday. They took the lead in the 11th but couldn’t close it out. OF Michael Siani nearly made a highlight-reel catch to end it, but he couldn’t hang on. He took matters into his hands at the dish, though, with a 2-run single in the 12th. The Cards remain 5½ out of the last Wild Card spot.

The Brew Crew can cruise, up 10 in the division with a magic number at 13 to clinch. SS Willy Adames ended his 5-game homer streak Tuesday, but he did have an RBI in the game. They are 19-11 in their last 30 games despite a litany of injuries.

Cardinals at Brewers projected starters

RHP Sonny Gray vs. RHP Colin Rea

Gray (12-9, 3.96 ERA) makes his 26th start. He has a 1.10 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9 and 10.9 K/9 in 147 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 4 K in 4-1 home victory Thursday against San Diego Padres
  • Last 5 regular-season starts vs. Brewers: 1-4, 4.68 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 35 K in 25 IP

Rea (12-4, 3.70 ERA) makes his 24th start (27th appearance). He has a 1.16 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9 and 7.3 K/9 in 146 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 0 BB, 5 K in 5-4 victory in 10 innings Friday at Cincinnati Reds
  • Last 5 starts vs. Cardinals: 0-2, 4.22 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, 15 K in 21 1/3 IP

Who’s going yard? Here’s a breakdown of today’s best home run props with our top picks. Include the BetMGM bonus code SBWIRE to score a $1,500 first-bet offer.

Cardinals at Brewers odds

Provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:40 p.m. ET.

  • Moneyline (ML): Cardinals -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | Brewers -115 (bet $115 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Cardinals -1.5 (+165) | Brewers +1.5 (-200)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 8 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Cardinals at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 4, Brewers 2

Moneyline

The Cards have gone 3-0-1 in their last 4 series — and all were against playoff teams. They’re fighting, and they’re going to need to get length out of Gray today. Their top 4 relievers all pitched Tuesday and combined for 5 1/3 IP.

Gray goes a solid 7, and the offense grinds its way.

Take the CARDINALS -105.

Run line/Against the spread

As mentioned, the team HAS to get length out of Gray. It’s a bit juice-laden, but I’m on board with SONNY GRAY OVER 17.5 OUTS (-165).

Over/Under

We have similar conditions to Tuesday, which would have gone Under if extra innings weren’t needed. It’s 76 degrees with a 9-mph breeze blowing in.

The Under has cashed in Gray’s last 5 starts, and I’ll take the UNDER 8 (-115).

Analyzing Tuesday’s St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The St. Louis Cardinals (69-69) and Milwaukee Brewers (81-57) play the 2nd game of a 3-game series Tuesday at American Family Field at 7:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cardinals vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 8-3

The Cards were pounded 9-3 by the Brewers Monday as they allowed 8 walks and 3 homers. C Pedro Pages did his part by hitting 2 homers, but the pitching staff was atrocious. The Cards are 5½ out of a Wild Card spot.

The Brewers have won 6 of 7, thanks in part. LF Jackson Chourio delivered the big blow Monday with a grand slam. They’ve won 20 of 30 to open a 10-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. They’ve also dominated the NL Central at 30-17.

Cardinals at Brewers projected starters

LHP Steven Matz vs. RHP Aaron Civale

Matz (1-2, 6.18 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.73 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 5.5 K/9 in 27 2/3 IP. The 10-year veteran was activated off the 60-day IL after missing 4 months with back issues

  • Last start: No-decision, 3 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 1 K in 11-6 loss at Detroit Tigers April 30
  • Career vs. Brewers: 5-2, 2.89 ERA (43 2/3 IP, 14 ER), 1.03 WHIP, 7.0 K/9 in 8 games (7 starts)
  • Last 5 regular-season starts vs. Brewers: 4-1, 2.43 ERA (29 2/3, 8 ER), 1.01 WHIP, 21 K

Civale (5-8, 4.59 ERA) makes his 27th start. He has a 1.34 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 8.4 K/9 in 135 1/3 IP with Tampa Bay Rays and Brewers. Since his July 3 trade to Milwaukee, the Northeastern University product is 3-2 with a 3.72 ERA (48 1/3 IP, 20 ER), 1.28 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9, 8.0 K/9 in 9 starts.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 K in 6-0 home victory vs. San Francisco Giants Thursday
  • Career vs. Cardinals: 1 road start for Cleveland, loss, 6 IP, 5 ER, 8 H, 2 BB, 3 K in 7-2 setback Aug. 30, 2020

  • Over/Under (O/U): 8.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Cardinals at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 5, Cardinals 3

Moneyline

The Brewers have dominated the Cardinals the last 2 years, going 16-8 against them. Matz is making his first start since April, and the moderate favorites are the way to go here.

TAKE BREWERS (-150).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS since we’re backing the Brewers ML.

Meanwhile, 1B Rhys Hoskins hit his 23rd homer of the season Monday. He has 4 career hits against Matz in 23 at-bats, and 3 of them left the ballpark.

LET’S TAKE RHYS HOSKINS OVER 1.5 H+R+RBI (+115).

Over/Under

We’re slated to have a 72-degree evening with a 9-mph gust blowing in from right-center. I trust the Brewers to score 5, but I don’t trust the Cards to score more than 3 in order to cash an Over. They’ve scored more than 3 runs just twice in the last 9 meetings with Milwaukee.

The St. Louis Cardinals (69-68) and Milwaukee Brewers (80-57) begin a 3-game series Monday. First pitch from American Family Field is set for 2:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Cardinals vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 7-3

The Cardinals won for the 4th time in 5 games with a 14-7 victory as +213 underdogs at the New York Yankees Sunday with the Over (9.5) hitting. RF Jordan Walker went 5-for-5 with a 2-run blast in the 5th inning for the Cardinals, who had 21 hits. St. Louis also got 2-run homers from DH Luken Baker and LF Lars Nootbaar. It is 33-36 away from Busch Stadium.

Milwaukee had its 5-game win streak snapped in a 4-3 loss in 11 innings at the Cincinnati Reds Sunday. The Brewers could only manage 6 hits on the afternoon, one being a solo shot from SS Willy Adames. 2B Brice Turang also notched his 40th stolen base of the season. They are 40-26 at home.

Cardinals at Brewers projected starters

RHP Andre Pallante vs. RHP Freddy Peralta

Pallante (6-6, 3.80 ERA) makes his 16th start and 25th appearance. He has a 1.32 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 6.6 K/9 in 92 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 8 H, 2 BB, 3 K in 4-3 home victory against San Diego Padres Wednesday

  • Career vs. Brewers: 0-0, 4.08 ERA (17 2/3 IP, 8 ER), 1.64 WHIP, 4.6 K/9 in 12 relief appearances

Peralta (9-7, 3.70 ERA) makes his 28th start. He has a 1.19 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 10.4 K/9 in 148 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 8 K in 5-3 home victory against San Francisco Giants Wednesday

Cardinals at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 5, Cardinals 3

Moneyline

PASS.

The Brewers (-166) will take the opener of this series in Milwaukee, but I’d rather put my wager on the run line.

Run line/Against the spread

BET BREWERS -1.5 (+130).

Milwaukee is kicking off a 6-game homestand and has been pretty solid at American Family Field this season (40-25 straight up). Milwaukee’s been hot lately, winning 5 of its last 6 games. Plus, Peralta, has been lights out with a 2-0 record in his last 3 starts, giving up just 1 earned run over 17 innings. Even though the Cardinals are playing well, the Brewers have had the upper hand, going 7-3 against St. Louis this year. So, taking the Brewers -1.5 seems like a smart move!

Over/Under

PASS.

The market does not expect a lot of runs with this low total, and I agree, but I’m not confident enough to recommend this bet. I don’t like the trends in either direction.

These teams are 5-5 O/U in the last 10 meetings. The Cardinals are 5-5 O/U in their last 10 games, while the Brewers are 6-3-1 O/U in their last 10.

Season series: Tied 1-1

The Cardinals bounced back with a 6-5 Saturday win after losing Friday’s series opener 6-3. On Saturday, St. Louis went 4-of-6 with runners in scoring position; for the series the Redbirds are 7-for-12.

The Yankees have lost 3 of their last 4 games. They have not been impressive at home. New York is just 13-16 over its last 29 games at Yankee Stadium.

Cardinals at Yankees projected starters

RHP Miles Mikolas vs. LHP Nestor Cortes

Mikolas (8-10, 5.23 ERA) is lined up for his 28th start. He has a 1.26 WHIP, 1.4 BB/9 and 6.1 K/9 in 149 2/3 IP.

  • Last outing: No-decision, 5 2/3 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 3 K in 7-5 loss vs. San Diego Padres Tuesday
  • Career vs. Yankees: 1-0, 2.45 ERA (7 1/3 IP, 2 ER), 4 H, 2 BB, 3 K in 1 game
  • Making this start on 4 days’ rest and has struggled with that interval in 2024 (5.15 ERA in 9 starts)

Cortes (8-10, 3.89 ERA) is making his 28th start. He has a 1.14 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9 and 8.3 K/9 in 155 IP.

  • Last outing: Win, 6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 5 K in 5-2 win at Washington Nationals Monday
  • Career vs. Cardinals: 0-0, 3.38 ERA (5 1/3 IP, 2 ER), 1 H, 4 BB, 4 K in 1 game
  • Has allowed just 1 run over his last 20 2/23 IP; that surge comes on the heels of posting a 9.26 ERA from July 11-Aug. 8

Cardinals at Yankees picks and predictions

Prediction

Yankees 6, Cardinals 5

Moneyline

The analytics make for some lean away from the season ERAs, toward Mikolas and away from Cortes. Given the odds on the table, PASS on the ML. Better value can be found in taking the Cards plus a cushion.

Run line/Against the spread

Cortes has benefited from a .176 batting average on balls in play over his last 3 starts. Mikolas has been undone by a .337 BABIP with runners in scoring position.

St. Louis has played a higher-than-league-average number of 1-run games and is 25-18 in those. With New York’s issues at home and with the Redbirds having a bullpen advantage, there is decent value in projecting a game flow that gets St. Louis within 1 or in the lead when this game plays out.

TAKE ST. LOUIS +1.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The weather forecast for the day game at Yankee Stadium includes an outward-blowing breeze. Cortes is a fly-ball pitcher who does fare well at home, but also figures to be recent-bias overrated without merit.

St. Louis does not hit lefties well (.656 OPS), but that’s alongside some shaky BABIP luck. The Cards’ contribution to this total is likely being overlooked.

New York’s troubles at home have largely been pitching-related, not hitting. Add in a couple or 3 bullpen arms being 2 days’ seen; advantage batters.

BACK THE OVER 9 (-105).

St. Louis Cardinals at New York Yankees odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s St. Louis Cardinals at New York Yankees odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The St. Louis Cardinals (67-68) and New York Yankees (79-56) meet for the 2nd game of a 3-game series Saturday. First pitch from Yankee Stadium is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cardinals vs. Yankees odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: New York leads 1-0

New York beat St. Louis 6-3 Friday as a -178 home favorite. RHP Marcus Stroman won his 3rd straight decision in 4 games, allowing 2 earned runs on 9 hits and no walks with 5 K’s in 7 innings.

Cardinals 3B Nolan Arenado hit a solo shot in the top of the 8th inning to cut the deficit to just 1 run, but Yankees C Austin Wells homered in the bottom of the 8th — his 2nd 2-run HR of the night — to give New York a 3-run lead.

Cardinals at Yankees projected starters

RHP Kyle Gibson vs. RHP Will Warren

Gibson (7-6, 4.54 ERA) makes his 26th start. He has a 1.38 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 8.2 K/9 through 140 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 1/3 IP, 7 ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 2 K in 7-4 home setback vs. San Diego Padres Monday
  • Career vs. Yankees: 2-7, 5.94 ERA (63 2/3 IP, 42 ER), 1.49 WHIP, 6.1 K/9 across 12 starts

Warren (0-2, 9.68 ERA) makes his 5th start. He has a 1.81 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 11.7 K/9 through 17 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 3 IP, 5 ER, 7 H, 1 BB, 6 K in 9-2 home defeat vs. Colorado Rockies Aug. 24
  • Has never faced St. Louis

Cardinals at Yankees picks and predictions

Prediction

Yankees 5, Cardinals 4

Moneyline

PASS.

I like the Yankees to pick up the win as -175 home favorites, but with such a high theoretical hold, it is not worth the risk of betting on. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Run line/Against the spread

LEAN CARDINALS +1.5 (-140).

The Cardinals and Yankees are both 6-4 in their last 10 games overall, but St. Louis has a 5-2 edge over New York in the last 7 meetings.

This is a lean because New York is 72-63 ATS on the year, while the Cardinals are only 67-68.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 9.5 (-105).

The Under has hit in 3 of St. Louis’ last 4 road games and is 2-1 in the Cardinals’ last 3 overall. The Under is also 6-4 in the Cardinals’ last 10 games.

The Under is 3-1 in New York’s last 4 outings.

The Under has also hit in 2 of the last 3 meetings between these teams and is 6-4 in the last 10.

St. Louis Cardinals at New York Yankees odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s St. Louis Cardinals at New York Yankees odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The St. Louis Cardinals (67-67) and New York Yankees (78-56) open a 3-game series Friday at Yankee Stadium at 7:05 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cardinals vs. Yankees odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Cards won 2-1 last year

The Cards won 2 straight to split a 4-game set with the San Diego Padres. They won 4-1 Thursday as SS Masyn Winn hit his 12th homer of the season. He doesn’t get enough recognition nationally because of how blah the Cards have been, but the 22-year-old is hitting .287 with 12 homers, 47 RBIs, 10 steals and a 4.8 WAR.

The Yanks dropped 2 of 3 in the nation’s capital against the Washington Nationals. They scored 2 runs Tuesday and Wednesday and fell 4-2 and 5-2. OF Juan Soto went 0-for-12 in the series against his former squad. The Yanks remain 1½ games in front of the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East.

Cardinals at Yankees projected starters

RHP Erick Fedde vs. RHP Marcus Stroman

Fedde (8-7, 3.31 ERA) makes his 27th start. He has a 1.17 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 7.8 K/9 in 149 1/3 IP with the Cardinals and Chicago White Sox.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 7 K in 3-2 victory Sunday at Minnesota Twins
  • 1-3, 4.23 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 6.8 K/9 in 5 GS with Cards
  • 0-1, 5.02 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, 10 K in 14 1/3 IP over 3 career GS vs. Yankees

Stroman (9-6, 3.88 ERA) makes his 26th start. He has a 1.39 WHIP, 3.9 BB/9 and 6.6 K/9 in 132 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 5 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 5 K in 10-3 home victory Sunday against Colorado Rockies
  • Last 5 starts vs. St. Louis: 0-4, 5.04 ERA, 1.72 WHIP, 18 K in 25 IP

Who’s going yard? Here’s a breakdown of today’s best home run props with our top picks. Include the BetMGM bonus code SBWIRE to score a $1,500 first-bet offer.

Cardinals at Yankees picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 4, Yankees 3

Moneyline

The Cards and Yankees have squared off 6 times over the last 2 years, and the Cards won 5 of those meetings. That’s a little misleading because they were all at Busch Stadium. The Cards went to Yankee Stadium in 2017 and got swept.

The silver lining for me, though, is Stroman faced the Cards 3 times last year and went 0-3 with a 6.23 ERA. That team was one of the worst in baseball, and this offense isn’t much better, but some of the pieces that have haunted him remain. 1B Paul Goldschmidt is 11-for-27 (.407) with 3 homers lifetime against Stroman. OF Tommy Pham is 4-for-9 (.556) and 2B Brendan Donovan is 5-for-14 (.357).

If Fedde can limit the walks and keep the ball in the park, the CARDINALS +155 is a solid underdog play Friday.

Run line/Against the spread

I’m going to take a chance on ERICK FEDDE OVER 4.5 K’S (-110). He had 7 K’s in his last outing, and OF Aaron Judge is 1-for-6 with 4 K’s against Fedde lifetime. And that was before Fedde went overseas and became a much better pitcher.

Over/Under

It’s slated to be 71 degrees with a 7-mph breeze blowing in from right-center. The Cards are 3-7 O/U in their last 10, and the Yankees are 4-6. With both offenses kind of missing gears, I’m going with the UNDER 8.5 (+100).

San Diego Padres at St. Louis Cardinals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s San Diego Padres at St. Louis Cardinals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The San Diego Padres (76-59) and St. Louis Cardinals (66-67) meet for the finale of a 4-game series Thursday. First pitch from Busch Stadium is set for 2:15 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Padres vs. Cardinals odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 3-3

St. Louis escaped with a 4-3 win over San Diego Wednesday as a +105 home underdog. 3B Nolan Arenado hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th inning, driving in SS Masyn Winn.

The loss marked the end of a 3-game win streak for the Padres and snapped a 2-game skid for the Cardinals.

Padres at Cardinals projected starters

RHP Michael King vs. RHP Sonny Gray

King (11-7, 3.14 ERA) makes his 26th start and 27th appearance. He has a 1.18 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 10.7 K/9 through 146 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 7 K in 7-1 home defeat vs. New York Mets Saturday
  • Career vs. St. Louis: 1-0, 0.00 ERA (3 1/3 IP, 0 ER), 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K in 1 relief appearance of 6-2 road victory July 1, 2023, with New York Yankees

Gray (11-9, 4.07 ERA) makes his 25th start. He has a 1.13 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 11.1 K/9 through 141 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 IP, 5 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 7 K in 6-0 defeat at Minnesota Twins Saturday
  • Career vs. San Diego: 2-0, 1.64 ERA (11 IP, 2 ER), 1.18 WHIP, 12.3 K/9 in 2 starts — last outing in 2022

Who’s going yard? Here’s a breakdown of today’s best home run props with our top picks. Include the BetMGM bonus code SBWIRE to score a $1,500 first-bet offer.

Padres at Cardinals odds

  • Moneyline (ML): Padres -115 (bet $115 to win $100) | Cardinals -105 (bet $105 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Padres -1.5 (+150) | Cardinals +1.5 (-185)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 8 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Padres at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Padres 3, Cardinals 2

Moneyline

BET PADRES (-115).

San Diego is 3-1 in its last 4 games and 6-4 in its last 10, while the Cardinals are only 3-4 in their last 7 at home and 5-5 in their last 10 overall.

The Padres are also 3-1 in the last 4 meetings between these teams.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

I like the Cardinals to cover here as +1.5 (-185) underdogs, but the line is set too heavily in their favor to risk betting on. Bet on the moneyline and/or O/U instead.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 8 (-115).

For St. Louis, the Under is 7-3 in its last 10 games overall and 4-3 in its last 7 at home. The Under has also gone 5-3-1 in the last 9 meetings.

This is a lean because the Over is 7-3 in San Diego’s last 10 games.
