Analyzing Friday’s St. John’s at Providence odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The St. John’s Red Storm (9-2, 1-0 Big East) face the Providence Friars (7-5, 1-0) Friday. Tip-off from Amica Mutual Pavilion is set for 8 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the St. John’s vs. Providence odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

St. John’s extended their winning streak to 4 games with an 89-61 victory over the DePaul Blue Demons on Tuesday. They covered as 11.5-point home favorites as the Under 151 hit. The defense was sharp, forcing 20 turnovers. Senior G Kadary Richmond stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal.

Providence lost to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies 74-70 on Saturday, failing to cover as 3-point home favorites as the Over 127.5 hit. The Friars struggled in the paint, getting outscored 38-18. Guard Jayden Pierre contributed across the board with 12 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks, and a steal.

St. John’s at Providence picks and predictions

Prediction

St. John’s 77, Providence 63

Moneyline

PASS.

St. John’s (-275) will win this game on Friday night, but is too costly so I’ll take my wager to the spread.

Against the spread

BET ST. JOHN’S -6.5 (-105).

Rick Pitino has the Red Storm clicking on both ends of the court. St. John’s is 8-3 against the spread (ATS) this season and has won 14 of their last 15 games against non-ranked opponents.

While Providence allows just 64.6 points per game (PPG), they gave up 74 points in their last outing and now face a high-powered St. John’s offense averaging 84.8 PPG, ranking 28th in the nation. The Red Storm has scored 88+ points in 3 straight games and is 11th in KenPom’s ratings, thanks to their balanced attack. Defensively, they’re holding opponents to 67.5 PPG.

The Friars face an uphill battle, especially if F Bryce Hopkins (19 PPG) is sidelined. Providence is 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 143.5 (-110).

St. John’s can score in bunches, but it also excels in gritty, defensive battles. They’re holding opponents to under 68 points per game and dominate the glass with 14.7 offensive rebounds per contest.

Providence has struggled offensively without Hopkins, averaging just 70.5 PPG (292nd nationally). Their free-throw struggles—67.8% on 19.4 attempts per game—haven’t helped either. The Friars have also hit the Under in 2 of their last 3 games.

This has all the makings of a tough, physical Big East showdown where every point will count.

Kansas State at St. John’s picks and predictions

Prediction

St. John’s 75, Kansas State 69

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on St. John’s (-610) to win Saturday in front of its home crowd.

Against the spread

BET KANSAS STATE +10.5 (-110).

Kansas State has covered the spread in 3 of its last 4 games while fine-tuning its offense against lesser teams in its previous 2. It will face a battle against a solid St. John’s program, but the Wildcats can look to a multitude of players to keep them in this matchup.

St. John’s has failed to cover back-to-back games.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 148.5 (-110).

The Wildcats have allowed 71 or fewer points in 4 of their last 5 games and hit the Under in 4 of their last 7. They have scored 80 or fewer points in 5 of their last 7.

The Red Storm have hit the Under in back-to-back games and 4 of their last 6. They have scored 77 or fewer points in back-to-back games and allowed 73 or fewer in 7 of 8 this season.

St. John’s vs. Georgia odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s St. John’s at Georgia odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 20 St. John’s Red Storm (5-1) face the Georgia Bulldogs (5-1) Sunday at Imperial Arena in Nassau, Bahamas. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the St. John’s vs. Georgia odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

St. John’s rebounded from its first loss — a heartbreaking double-OT 99-98 loss to No. 14 Baylor on a buzzer beater Thursday — with a dominating 80-55 victory over Virginia Friday, covering as 10.5-point favorites with the Over (129) cashing. Both games were part of the two-day Baha Mar Championship tournament in Nassau. Junior G RJ Luis Jr. led the way with 18 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and a block vs. Virginia, while senior G Deivon Smith added a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists in the commanding victory.

The Bulldogs took their first loss of the season Saturday, falling 80-69 to 15th-ranked Marquette. Georgia didn’t cover as 5.5-point underdogs with the Under (150.5) hitting. Marquette’s senior F David Joplin led all scorers with 29 points, hitting 6 of 11 three-pointers. G Blue Cain led Georgia with 17 points, but they struggled to contain Joplin and the Golden Eagles offense.

St. John’s vs. Georgia picks and predictions

Prediction

St. John’s 79, Georgia 69

Moneyline

PASS.

I have St. John’s (-275) getting the win here, but I’m not betting it at 2.75-to-1. I’ll take my wager to the spread.

Against the spread

BET ST. JOHN’S -6.5 (-115).

This promises to be an exciting matchup as both teams have performed well to start the season. The Red Storm will have a slight edge, with one day of rest compared to Georgia’s tough loss to Marquette Saturday. St. John’s has covered the spread in its last 3 games, while Georgia is 2-2 ATS in its last 4.

Both teams average over 80 points per game — St. John’s at 86.2% and Georgia at 84% — but the Red Storm have faced tougher competition, which has helped them come together. The Red Storm’s size and defensive prowess, led by F Zuby Ejiofor (10.7 PPG, 6.3 RPG), and their 39.3% shooting from 3 could be key against Georgia’s struggles beyond the paint and from deep.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET UNDER 150.5 (-110).

This total is too high. St. John’s is 2-2 O/U in their last 4 games, while Georgia is on a 3-0 Under run. Both teams are finishing a trip to the Bahamas, with St. John’s playing their third game in 4 days and Georgia on short rest after facing Marquette.

With St. John’s strong defense and Georgia’s struggles from the perimeter, the pace will likely be slow. Georgia’s average tempo and St. John’s top-tier defensive efficiency should keep this game from reaching the total.

Baylor vs. St. John’s odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Baylor vs. St. John’s odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 15 Baylor Bears (3-1) and the No. 21 St. John’s Red Storm (4-0) meet Thursday at Baha Mar Convention Center in Nassau, Bahamas. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Baylor vs. St. John’s odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

The Bears have bounced back from a 101-63 spanking from Gonzaga in the opener, coming nowhere near a cover as 6-point underdogs in Spokane. Baylor has won and covered 3 in a row, including a neutral-floor victory over the No. 24 Arkansas Razorbacks. The Over has cashed in the past 2 games, and 3 of 4 outings this season.

The Red Storm have won all 4 games, while going 3-1 against the spread (ATS). That includes an impressive 85-71 victory Sunday over the New Mexico Lobos as a 7-point favorite while the Under (163) cashed. St. John’s has scored 85 or more points in 3 of 4 outings.

This is the first non-conference tournament for St. John’s in the Bahamas since 2016. The Red Storm lost all 3 meetings in the Battle 4 Atlantic Tournament in 2016 under then coach Chris Mullin.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Baylor vs. St. John’s picks and predictions

Prediction

Baylor 83, St. John’s 74

Moneyline

BAYLOR (-140) isn’t super costly if you’re a little more on the conservative side and you’d rather not fiddle around with the points.

While the win for St. John’s (+116) last time out against UNM was impressive, the Lobos are still an unranked foe. The Red Storm have yet to face a major opponent or challenge.

Against the spread

Play BAYLOR -2.5 (-110) laying the little bit of points if you’re a more traditional bettor, unless, of course, you feel the Bears are going to win, but only by 1 or 2 points.

St. John’s +2.5 (-110) has yet to face a ranked team, but it has still allowed 71 or more points in the past 2 games, splitting against the spread. While St. John’s is expecting 400 fans to make the trip to give the Red Storm a boost, you have to back the better team.

Over/Under

OVER 152.5 (-110) is worth playing lightly in this, but don’t get carried away.

The Under has cashed in the past 2 games for St. John’s after cashing high in the first 2 outings.

Baylor has hit triple digits on offense in the past 2 games, while the Over is on a 3-1 run this season.

New Mexico at St. John’s odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Mexico at St. John’s odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The New Mexico Lobos (3-0) and the No. 25 St. John’s Red Storm (3-0) meet Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Tip-off is scheduled for noon ET (FS1). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the New Mexico vs. St. John’s odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

The Lobos steam in with 3 consecutive wins to open the season, including a 72-64 victory over a ranked UCLA team in Henderson, Nev., in a neutral-floor game as a 4.5-point underdog. UNM is 2-1 against the spread (ATS), while scoring 91 or more points in 2 of 3 outings to cash high twice, too.

The Red Storm is also unbeaten through 3 games, although the victories are against the Fordham Rams, Quinnipiac Bobcats and Wagner Seahawks. St. John’s is 2-1 ATS in those games, while cashing high twice in 3 outings. The Johnnies have scored 92 points or more in 2 of those games.

New Mexico at St. John’s picks and predictions

Prediction

New Mexico 79, St. John’s 74

Moneyline

NEW MEXICO (+390) is worth a roll of the dice for the chance to nearly quadruple up.

The Lobos have already been tested against a top-tier opponent, knocking off UCLA in Vegas. Who has St. John’s (-530) played?

Against the spread

If you’re not sold on NEW MEXICO +9.5 (-102) straight up, it is still a tremendous value catching more than 4 buckets in this battle at MSG.

Again, St. John’s -9.5 (-120) has been impressive in wins against lower-tier teams, but this will easily be its biggest test. We don’t know how the Johnnies will react actually playing a decent opponent, while we’ve seen UNM pass a tough test already.

Over/Under

UNDER 162.5 (-106) is a decent option in this battle in New York City.

Both of these teams have piled up the points against lower-tier teams, but against the best opponent they’ve each faced, we should see scores down considerably.

Yes, UNM hit the century mark against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last time out, and it has gone for 91 or more points twice. But, let’s pump the brakes, and look to the UCLA game. That’s a better indicator of what to expect here.

Big East Tournament: St. John’s vs. Marquette odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s St. John’s vs. Marquette Big East odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The St. John’s Red Storm (18-14) visit the No. 6 Marquette Golden Eagles (25-6) on Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the Big East Tournament. Tip from Madison Square Garden is set for noon ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the St John’s vs. Marquette odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

St. John’s took down Butler 76-63 on Wednesday in the 1st round to cover as 6.5-point favorites. It has covered the spread in back-to-back games and is 5-5 against the spread (ATS) in its last 10 games and 14-18 ATS on the season.

Marquette is the tournament No. 1 seed and earned a 1st-round bye. It beat St. John’s 96-94 in its last regular season game on Saturday, but failed to cover as 11.5-point home favorites. The Golden Eagles are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games and 17-13 ATS this season.

St John’s vs. Marquette picks and predictions

Prediction

Marquette 80, St. John’s 71

Moneyline

Not available, but the expected line for Marquette would likely be unplayable and offer little value.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

LEAN MARQUETTE -6.5 (-115).

While St. John’s kept the game within reach in their Saturday matchup,  Marquette has a clear advantage with a 1st-round bye. The Golden Eagles are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss, 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games after scoring 90 or more points in their previous game, and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 90 points in their previous game.

St. John’s is just 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games following an outright win and is 1-3 ATS this season playing as a 5-7-point underdog.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 161.5 (-110).

While both teams’ strong point is their offense, they both tend to underperform on neutral floors. The Under is 11-3-1 in the Red Storm’s last 15 neutral site games and 4-1 in the Golden Eagles’ last 5 neutral site games.

As it stands, 161.5 points would be tied for the 2nd-highest closing total in St. John’s last 10 games and tied for the highest closing line in Marquette’s last 10 games.

Big East Tournament: Butler vs. St. John’s odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Butler vs. St. John’s odds, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Butler Bulldogs (14-17, 6-14 Big East) and St. John’s Red Storm (17-14, 7-13) meet Wednesday in a 1st-round matchup in the Big East Tournament. Tip from Madison Square Garden in New York is at 3 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Butler vs. St. John’s odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Butler closed out the regular season with 4 losses in the final 5 games, although setbacks against ranked teams Marquette and Xavier is nothing to be ashamed about.

The Over cashed in the final game for the Bulldogs against the Musketeers, and that snapped an impressive 9-0 Under run for Butler, including the most recent meeting with St. John’s Feb. 7.

The Bulldogs topped the Johnnies 68-66 in the Feb. 8 matchup at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, avenging a 77-61 drubbing in NYC on Jan. 10. The Under cashed in each of the regular-season meetings.

St. John’s also lost its final 2 regular-season games and 3 of its last 4, although all 3 setbacks were against ranked teams. The Red Storm enters 4-2 ATS in the last 6 games after going 0-6 ATS in the previous 6 outings.

Butler vs. St. John’s picks and predictions

Prediction

St. John’s 72, Butler 63

Moneyline

The game was OTB at the time of publishing, but it will be too expensive to bet St. John’s when a moneyline comes online, anyway.

PASS, and look to the spread instead.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

ST. JOHN’S -6.5 (-105) has the home-crowd advantage playing in New York City, and it served the Johnnies well at Carnesecca Arena in mid-January when it pasted Butler 77-61.

Neither team has played particularly well at any point, especially down the stretch, which is why they both find themselves in the opening game of the conference tourney on Wednesday. Still, the Red Storm has Posh Alexander, David Jones and Joel Soriano, a solid trio which should be enough to advance St. John’s at least 1 game in this tourney.

St. John’s has covered 3 of the last 4 meetings in this series, and for what it’s worth, the home side has won 6 of the last 7 in this series. While, true, this is technically a neutral-site event, it is in New York City, just miles from its campus, while Butler isn’t likely to travel well from Indianapolis, especially for a likely 1-and-done scenario for a sub-.500 team.

Over/Under

UNDER 144.5 (-110) is the best play on the board in this Big East Tourament opening matchup.

The Under was 9-1 in the final 10 regular-season games for Butler, including the most recent meeting against St. John’s. In fact, both games with the Red Storm cashed Under, and neither game was particularly close to threatening to go high.

The Red Storm scored plenty during the regular season at 77.6 PPG, while they were one of the worst defensive teams in the league, allowing 75.7 PPG. It isn’t a slam-dunk play by any means, but Butler’s offense is also brutal, going for just 65.3 PPG, and it is one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the conference, while doing a solid job defensively to mitigate the risk.

Analyzing Wednesday’s St. John’s at Georgetown odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The St. John’s Red Storm (16-12, 6-11 Big East) and Georgetown Hoyas (7-21, 2-15) meet Wednesday at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the St. John’s vs. Georgetown game odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Red Storm are coming off a 77-67 loss at home against current-No. 19 Creighton Saturday, snapping a modest 2-game win streak at De Paul (92-83, Feb. 14) and at home against current-No.18 Providence (73-68, Feb. 11).

The Hoyas are looking to avenge a 75-73 road loss at the Red Storm on Jan. 29, although Georgetown easily covered as a 10-point underdog. That cover is part of a 9-1 against-the-spread run across the past 10 outings dating back to Jan. 16.

St. John’s at Georgetown picks and predictions

Prediction

Georgetown 73, St. John’s 72

Moneyline

GEORGETOWN (+110) is worth a look on its home court, as it looks to build upon the momentum of a rare road conference win at Butler Sunday (68-62).

The last time these teams faced each other, the Hoyas were on the short end of a 2-point game at St. John’s. Georgetown hasn’t waved the white flag despite being in the basement of the Big East, and it has been playing very competitive basketball for the last month.

Against the spread

GEORGETOWN +2.5 (-115) is the lean, although the difference between the money line and the spread is rather negligible.

The Hoyas have covered 9 of the past 10 games overall, including the most recent meeting with St. John’s. Georgetown is 6-1 ATS in the past 7 games against teams with a winning overall record, too.

Over/Under

UNDER 156.5 (-115) is the best play on the board in this Big East battle.

While the Over is 6-1 in the past 7 road games for the Red Storm, the Under cashed in the previous meeting with the Hoyas.

It’s all about the Under for Georgetown. The Under is 5-2 in its last 7 games overall, 5-2 in its last 7 home games and 5-1 in its last 6 games following a cover.

St. John’s at Xavier odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s St. John’s at Xavier odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The St. John’s Red Storm (14-9, 4-8 Big East) visit the No. 15 Xavier Musketeers (18-5, 10-2) in Cincinnati Saturday at 5 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the St. John’s vs. Xavier odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

After winning an overtime battle 85-83 Wednesday as a 4-point home favorite over 17th-ranked Providence in its last game, Xavier will get less of a test in this one against a St. John’s team which has struggled since entering Big East play.

A high scoring game should be in store with the Red Storm averaging 77.3 points per game and the Musketeers allowing 76.2 PPG, which ranks 336th per Covers.com.

On the other end of the court, the numbers are not much different. St. John’s allows 73.6 PPG (ranking 294th), while Xavier is the 8th-highest scoring team in the country at 83.3 PPG.

Defense will be optional for both teams and a shootout is likely.

St. John’s at Xavier odds

St. John’s at Xavier picks and predictions

Prediction

Xavier 90, St. John’s 79

Moneyline

AVOID.

St. John’s (+310) has not been the same team since entering Big East play, while Xavier (-425) has continued to excel. While it is not impossible for the Red Storm to pull off the upset, I don’t see it happening.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

XAVIER -8.5 (-115) is the side here.

Coming in after barely prevailing over Providence 85-83, Xavier will want to get back into cruise control and St. John’s is a good team to do it against.

St. John’s has failed to cover the spread in any of its last 4 games. While this will be a high-scoring game, it will not be a close one.

Over/Under

Although this O/U line being so high makes me nervous, I’m backing OVER 166.5 (-105).

The Red Storm have gone Over the total in its last 4 road games and have also gone Over the total in 5 of its last 6 games following an ATS loss.

For Xavier, the numbers are similar and lean toward the Over. The Musketeers have gone Over in 7 of 8 Saturday games while also going Over in 5 of 6 games against teams with losing road records. The Over has also hit in 8 of the Musketeers’ last 10 games following an ATS loss.

With the both defenses ranking outside the top 290 nationally, points will be flowing in Cincinnati for this one.

Georgetown at St. John’s odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Georgetown at St. John’s odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Georgetown Hoyas (6-15, 1-9 Big East) and St. John’s Red Storm (13-8, 3-7) clash Sunday in New York. Tip at Madison Square Garden is at 2 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Georgetown vs. St. John’s odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Georgetown ended a 10-game losing streak this season and a near-700-day, 29-game Big East skid with a win in its last game, toppling DuPaul 81-76 as a 1.5-point underdog Tuesday. The Hoyas got to the free-throw line a season-high 41 times in the victory.

St. John’s was routed by Creighton 104-76 on the road Wednesday. The Red Storm are back at home looking to snap a 2-game losing streak straight up and against the spread. SJU has won 3 in a row over GU, all by double-digit margins.

Georgetown at St. John’s picks and predictions

Prediction

St. John’s 86, Georgetown 75

Moneyline

An SJU lean but not an actionable one. STEER CLEAR.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

The favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 series meetings, so St. John’s is perhaps worth a line watch here. The Red Storm have some key advantages in the turnover and rebounding facets of the game.

In-league comps for Georgetown point to games that make SJU a decent play at -9.5 and perhaps worth some partial-unit action at -10.

PASS for now, but circle back.

Over/Under

The Over has hit in 3 of the last 4 GU-SJU games. It’s 7-0 in the Hoyas’ last 7 road games vs. foes with a winning home record (SJU is 9-3) and is 5-1 in the Red Storm’s last 6 games against teams playing at a .400 clip or worse.

Both teams rank in the top third in tempo per KenPom. SJU’s 14.8 seconds per possession is the quickest figure in NCAA-I hoops. Both teams get — and yield — a few too many good looks inside, and that makes up for an overall lack of 3-point shooting. Add in a decent amount of 2nd-chance opportunities, and free throws likely get to above-established levels.

TAKE THE OVER 157.5 (-115).
