Just a few tweaks in the numbers on Friday ahead of the big season-opener in the Swamp.

Florida football gets set to host its season-opener against the Utah Utes on Saturday, as the Orage and Blue embark into a new era behind head coach Billy Napier and his army of staffers.

The visitors arrive in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium ranked in the top 10 in both the AP and Coaches polls and present a formidable opponent to kick off the 2022 schedule. On the other hand, Florida starts its campaign well outside the top 25 but much of that has to do with how the program crashed like a lead zeppelin at the end of Dan Mullen’s tenure.

There is a bit of a hill to climb for the Gators to get back to respectability, but many are confident in the new administration and its fresh approach to building the team. However, bookmakers such as the Tipico Sportsbook are not too bullish on Florida’s chances to start the season with a win.

The latest lines still have not changed much over the last few days though there have been a few more minor tweaks to the numbers from yesterday. Take a look below at where things currently stand.

Florida football is nearing the kickoff of its season-opening game against the Utah Utes in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday. In an unusually tough matchup to start the schedule, new head coach Billy Napier and his crew have a talk task ahead of them as the visitors arrive ranked in the top 10 of both major polls.

Reaching back to late May when we published our way-too-early odds from our partners at Tipico Sportsbook, the bookmakers have predicted a close game, with the spread set at 1.5 points three months ago. Fast forward to the end of the summer season and the spread widened to just 2.5 points at the beginning of the week.

The latest lines have not changed much over the last few days though there have been some minor tweaks to the numbers. Take a look below at where things stand.

Thursday betting odds update for LSU vs. Florida State

The spread has moved slightly since Monday for the Tigers’ season-opener.

We’re just a few days away from the [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] era kicking off in New Orleans against the Florida State Seminoles. The Tigers are favorites in this one, albeit slightly, but they’ve seen the point spread move a bit this week.

LSU was initially listed as a 2.5-point favorite on Monday by Tipico Sportsbook, but since then, that line has increased by a point to 3.5, meaning a field-goal victory would no longer cover the spread.

In my betting advice post on Monday, I picked the Tigers to win by eight points, and I’ll stick with that prediction and pick Kelly’s team to cover the new spread in its 2022 debut. We have a lot of questions about this LSU team, including at the quarterback spot where it’s assumed [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] has won the job, but Kelly is remaining tight-lipped on the starter until the game kicks off.

LSU begins its 2022 campaign and Kelly’s tenure on Sunday night in the Superdome at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Florida vs. Utah: Tipico’s Wednesday betting odds for season-opener

Wednesday’s betting update on the Florida-Utah season opener saw the money line move slightly in favor of the Gators but the Utes are still expected to come out on top.

Florida’s odds to beat Utah on Saturday in the 2022 season opener improved on Wednesday, according to the Tipico Sportsbook.

Utah was a minus-150 favorite on Tuesday, but those odds have dropped to minus-145 overnight. In turn, Florida’s money line odds went from plus-122 to plus-120 overnight as well. Nothing else changed, and Tipico still considers Utah a three-point favorite, but that money line trend is something to keep an eye on as game day approaches.

It won’t be an easy upset to accomplish, but the Gators have a shot to beat the Utes and the oddsmakers seem to know it. If enough money comes in on the game, these odds could change even more but Florida is likely to remain an underdog going into Saturday.
