Chiefs HC Andy Reid exuded confidence in locker room speech after win vs. Browns

See what #Chiefs HC Andy Reid told his players in the locker room after Kansas City’s Week 15 victory over the Cleveland #Browns.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 13-1 after their Week 15 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, and head coach Andy Reid was thrilled with the performance of his players.

Kansas City’s offense scored three touchdowns against reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, and the Chiefs’ defense forced six turnovers.

Though Kansas City’s 14-point margin of victory was a bit underwhelming, the Chiefs currently hold the best record in the NFL, and Reid’s confidence in the team was palpable in his locker room speech after the game.

Take a look at this clip of Reid’s comments to his players after Kansas City’s win over Cleveland:

Chiefs fans can look forward to an exciting matchup against the Houston Texans in Week 16 and should expect to see Kansas City’s players put on a show as the team inches closer to clinching the No. 1 seed for the upcoming AFC playoffs in January.

Andy Reid gave passionate speech after Chiefs’ close win vs. Panthers

Andy Reid gave a passionate speech in the #Chiefs’ locker room after Kansas City’s Week 12 win over the Carolina #Panthers on Sunday.

In a season full of dramatic endings for the Kansas City Chiefs, Week 12 delivered came to another harrowing conclusion when the defending Super Bowl champions defeated the Carolina Panthers on a walk-off field goal by kicker Spencer Shrader.

After the game, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had the full attention of his team in the locker room and gave a passionate speech that reminded Kansas City’s players that every win matters.

Though it took a remarkable effort by Patrick Mahomes to get the Chiefs in range to score the last-second field goal, the group effort by Kansas City’s players made the difference against Carolina.

The Chiefs shared a video of Reid’s comments in a post to Twitter on Sunday evening:

Expect Kansas City to build on the momentum they gained against the Panthers in Week 12 when Mahomes, Reid, and the Chiefs face off against the Las Vegas Raiders on ‘Black Friday.’

Dennis Allen explains why he quoted Kendrick Lamar in his postgame speech

Dennis Allen used a perfectly-timed Kendrick Lamar quote after the Saints’ victory over the Cowboys. We can thank his son for that:

https://twitter.com/jeff_nowak/status/1836493511979602315?s=46&t=_U0UBmCWxF2s5xLnGQ2rFQ

Dennis Allen was feeling good after the New Orleans Saints dominant performance over Dallas Cowboys. So good that he quoted Kendrick Lamar’s hit single “Not Like Us.” When addressing the team after the game, Allen told his players “sometimes you gotta just pop out and show ’em.”

Allen added his own flair to the quote, and the team exploded. Willie Gay can be seen jumping into the frame as Allen walks off.

The song is the biggest hit of the year, so it’s no surprise Allen has heard it. The surprise was that he quoted it after the game.

We have Allen’s son to thank for this clip. Allen explained the moment by crediting his son for exposing him to the rapper’s work: “I wouldn’t say (Kendrick Lamar is) on my playlist, but my son was with me out at training camp and so we heard that song plenty of times.”

Allen heard the song so many times that he found the perfect moment to use the quote. The Saints game versus the Cowboys was a moment for the Saints to pop out and show ’em. That’s exactly what they did with another 40 point performance. Allen gets an A-plus for the reference and timing. Maybe he’ll be able to grab a photo with Lamar when the 17-time Grammy winner visits New Orleans to perform at Super Bowl LIX.

WATCH: Dennis Allen addresses the victorious Saints locker room after their dominant Week 1 win against the Panthers

https://twitter.com/Saints/status/1832896981225628033

Dennis Allen took a well-deserved  victory lap around the New Orleans Saints locker room after their 47-10 dismantling of the Carolina Panthers, congratulating his team on their total win while working to keep perspective. It’s a long season. It would be great if they could bottle up everything that  worked on Sunday and tap into it each week until January, but it isn’t that easy. They’ve got to recreate what worked over and over again and chase success the hard way.

“This is what Saints football is going to be about. Hear me out,” Allen said, referencing the team’s performance on third downs and the offense’s success running the ball. They had nearly as many rushing yards (180) as the Panthers offense gained in total (193). He pointed to a positive turnover differential as a big reason for their victory, but noted there are other things in their control that must be cleaned up.

Specifically penalties. Allen continued, “We’ve got to clean up the penalties. Because that, in a  tighter game, is going to be the difference  in winning and losing.”

The Saints were fouled 10 times for 95 yards — last year they averaged 5.6 penalties for just 49.8 yards. That’s a huge jump and Allen is right to feel concerned by it. But at the same time this was a win, and he made sure to compliment his team for accomplishing that.

“We played tough. We played physical. And guys you competed your ass off for sixty freaking minutes. And when we do that with the talent we have in the room? We have a chance to be pretty damn good,” Allen said.

A 47-10 win, no matter who it happens against, would be proof of that theory. Let’s see if the Saints can run it back against the Cowboys next week.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce hints at career after NFL in award speech

Check out what #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce had to say during a speech at the K.C. Sports awards.

Kansas City Chiefs veteran tight end Travis Kelce appeared at the KC Sports Awards on Tuesday. He was given some time to speak to the crowd after accepting the Polsinelli Sportsman of the Year award, reflecting on his 12 years in the NFL.

In his time on the mic after receiving the Polsinelli Sportsman award, Kelce spoke about his level of freedom in Andy Reid’s offense, which seems to have contributed to his incredible success on the field, having the confidence in making those wild plays that lead to scores.

In wrapping up he also touched on the idea that he won’t always be in the NFL and thanked Kansas City for supporting the Chiefs.

Harold R. Kuntz, a sports anchor at Kansas City’s FOX 4, attended the awards and shared footage of the Hall of Fame tight end to his Twitter account.

Though Travis Kelce is not done earning awards for his time in the NFL he appears to have his sights set on what lies ahead.

Jameis Winston inspiring Browns ahead of preseason wrap-up

Watch Cleveland #Browns backup QB Jameis Winston rally the team ahead of the game v. Seattle #Seahawks

Jameis Winston likely has the best speeches out of any backup in the NFL right now. His mic’d up cut posted after the first preseason game this year exploded among football fans on the internet and likely helped Cleveland’s rookies get through their first exhibition facing the Green Bay Packers though it was a 23-10 loss.

Backup QB Winston was back under center against the Seattle Seahawks yesterday to wrap up the preseason, and this time he had a bit more serious tone when impressing to the players in his huddle how important it was that they make this game count because it could be their last times wearing Browns helmets.

Cleveland shared this moment inside the offense ahead of the game on their official Twitter account, take a listen to Winston sharing some words that bear relevance to everyone with something to achieve in their sights.

Hopefully, the Browns have that trip to Cici’s Pizza in their future soon after the 0-3 preseason has shown fans a team that needs a motivating force like Winston aboard to keep things moving downfield when the team is struggling.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes delivers ‘All In’ speech to Texas Tech football team

Kansas City #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes delivers ‘All In’ speech to Texas Tech football team | @EdEastonJr

The start of the new college football season has many fans and current NFL players excited. Every team gets a clean slate and eyes on a national championship. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is one of the many stars pushing to support their alma mater in any way possible as the 2024 campaign begins.

Mahomes recently returned to Texas Tech to provide extra motivation for the football team as they prepare for the start of the new college football season.

“I give y’all one thing: if I don’t give y’all anything from this entire speech that I learned from my time at Texas Tech and in the NFL, and it’s what I live by today, is when you play this game, you got to be all in,” said Mahomes. “You got to be all-in on everything you do. And if I have one regret about my time at Texas Tech, I don’t believe I truly was all in. We had great offenses and exciting teams. I got drafted in the first round, but was I all in? Was I all in on doing whatever it took in my extra time to win that Big 12 championship? And so, when I look back at my career, I don’t believe I was. I went to class, practiced hard, worked out, and had a good time. I had a great time, but you could do all that and still be great in everything you do.”

The three-time Super Bowl champion intently stared at every player in the room as he delivered his speech motivating the group ahead of their 2024 season opener next weekend.

“I’ll let you all know one thing: for winning the Super Bowl Championship, you have a way better time doing that than that extra stuff you’re gonna do on the weekends or whatever that is. So when y’all step in this building, are you all in? When you’re at practice and need to get in that extra rep, are you all in? There has to be a commitment to greatness, and that commitment is what will take y’all to that Big 12 championship.” said Mahomes. “And trust me, I believe, I believe in all y’all. I’ve seen the work; I’ve seen the brand. I’ve been watching the videos, all the hype stuff, but at the end of the day, it comes down to how you’re gonna play on that football field. I believe y’all have everything it takes right here. So make sure When you come to work every single day, when you step out of this building or step into it. You’re all in.”

During his illustrious career as a Red Raider, Mahomes accumulated 11,252 passing yards and 115 total touchdowns in three seasons. The Chiefs selected him tenth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, but he maintained a strong bond with the university, supporting the program’s growth.

Heckuva speech from the one-time Notre Dame rival

Earlier this week we celebrated Joe Montana’s birthday here at Fighting Irish Wire as the legendary quarterback turned 68.  Montana of course helped lead Notre Dame to the national championship in 1977 before leading the 49ers to four Super Bowl championships where he was also the boyhood hero of another future great quarterback.

[autotag]Tom Brady[/autotag] grew up in California rooting for the 49ers and being a fan of Montana’s.  Brady didn’t end up going to Notre Dame like Montana, instead choosing Notre Dame’s northern rival in Michigan.

He battled his entire career for playing time there before taking over his senior year and leading Michigan to an Orange Bowl victory over Alabama.  From there he was drafted in the sixth round of the NFL draft, took over for an injured Drew Bledsoe with the Patriots, and the rest as they say, is history.

Brady, who retired following the 2022 season, had his number retired in a special event by the Patriots on Wednesday night.  There he gave a speech, but it’s his part about what playing football taught him and so many others that has understandably gone viral.

Although a rival, an incredible competitor and an all-time teammate who went 1-1 all-time as a starter against Notre Dame.

Drew Brees selected for New Orleans Saints’ team Hall of Fame

Drew Brees has been selected for the New Orleans Saints’ team Hall of Fame. It’s the easiest decision the voters have ever had in front of them:

Drew Brees was officially selected for the New Orleans Saints’ team Hall of Fame on Thursday, in what was likely the easiest decision the voters have ever had in front of them. Brees elevated the Saints to a national brand during his 15-year run as their starting quarterback, winning every major passing record at some point during his tenure. He was also named Most Valuable Player in the Saints’ Super Bowl XLIV victory.

Brees and his family returned to the team’s Ochsner Sports Performance Center for a press conference in his honor, which was attended by former teammates and staffers he knew well during his Saints career.

“This is a tremendous honor,” Brees spoke slowly in his opening statement, choking up with emotion. “And I am so grateful to everybody here, and forever will be. Once a Saint, always a Saint. I will be living and dying with the team every Sunday as most of you will as well.”

It remains to be seen which game will honor Brees for enshrinement to the team’s Hall of Fame, so we’ll keep you posted. Whenever that is, we’re guessing it’ll include a packed house. Brees isn’t eligible for enshrinement to the Pro Football Hall of Fame until 2026, but he’s a safe bet to get in as soon as the rules allow it.
