Former Michigan State football defensive tackle Naquan Jones signs with the Miami Dolphins practice squad.

Former Michigan State football defensive tackle Naquan Jones has carved out a solid NFL career for himself thus far.

After going undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft, Jones spent two and a half seasons with the Tennessee Titans before spending half of a season with the Arizona Cardinals. With both Tennessee and Arizona, Jones played in 36 games, with 8 starts, recording 62 tackles, 7 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.

Now, Jones’ next step is with the Miami Dolphins practice squad, where he will look to earn his spot on another active roster.

Former Michigan State football wide receiver Cody White had a very good preseason with the Seattle Seahawks. His camp was so good, he almost made the 53-man roster, but was just edged out. While unfortunate, he could change his fortunes with a solid showing on the practice squad, where he will begin the 2024-25 season.

Nick Samac has his home with the Baltimore Ravens

Nick Samac has been a mainstay on Michigan State football’s offensive line in years past. The Ohio native was a highly touted prospect and spent five years at MSU, majority as the starting center.

Following his MSU career, Samac was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Former MSU football WR Cody White a top Seahawks player in preseason finale

Cody White has balled out with the Seattle Seahawks

Cody White is looking to make a fierce return to the NFL. The former Michigan State football wide receiver spent 2020-2022 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, catching six passes for 35 yards.

Now, White has spent training camp with the Seattle Seahawks, and according to PFF, he was one of their top rated performers in the final preseason game.

White ranked third on the roster with a 78.7.

BVS is getting another season with the Philadelphia Eagles

Ben VanSumeren had a very interesting college career, competing for both Michigan State and Michigan during his collegiate days. Now, the former Spartan will be competing in the National Football League for another season.

VanSumeren has survived final cuts and has made the Philadelphia Eagles 53-man roster.

After going undrafted in 2023, VanSumeren recorded 13 tackles for the Eagles in nine games.

A former Michigan State football linebacker is getting another chance at an NFL career. Andrew Dowell is being brought back by the New Orleans Saints.

Dowell has spent his entire NFL career with the Saints after going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. He missed the 2023 season with a torn ACL.

Dowell has recorded 22 tackles and 2 forced fumbles in his NFL career with the Saints.

A former Michigan State DL signs with the Indianapolis Colts as an OL

Former Michigan State defensive lineman Mike Panasiuk has found a new home in the National Football League. Panasiuk is signing with the Indianapolis Colts per MLFootball’s reporting.

Panasiuk was a star with the St. Louis Battlehawks in the UFL, which he has parlayed into a second stint in the NFL. He spent time with the Carolina Panthers. Since turning professional, Panasiuk transitioned from defensive to offensive line.

From 2016-2019, Panasiuk recorded 100 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 4 sacks and 2 interceptions in his Michigan State career.

At 6 feet, 3 inches and 300 pounds and with the movement he possessed on the defensive line, Panasiuk provides versatility on the offensive line.

Former MSU football WR catches preseason TD pass

Former Spartan and in-state WR catches a TD pass for the Vikings on Saturday:

Trishton Jackson, a West Bloomfield native, started his college career with Michigan State, playing for the Spartans in 2016 and 2017, recording over 200 receiving yards. Jackson made the move to transfer, finishing his career at Syracuse, but the in-state talent is still known as a Spartan.

Now, Jackson is trying to make the Minnesota Vikings roster in training camp, and he made a good impression on Saturday with a nice TD grab:

Cody White excelled in the Seahawks preseason opener:

Former Michigan State football wide receiver Cody White has found a new home in the National Football League, latching on with the Seattle Seahawks. White, fighting to make a roster spot, had a great first step in that process when he excelled in the Seahawks first preseason game.

In the Seahawks opener, where Seattle beat the Los Angeles Chargers 16-3, and White caught 2 passes for 30 yards.

One of his two catches was a big time play to move the chains, showing his reliability as a target.

The Seahawks beat reporter for The Athletic, Michael-Shawn Dugar, shared that White has been excelling in practice and it carried over onto the field Saturday.

Jalen Nailor highest graded Viking in preseason opener

According to PFF, Jalen Nailor was the best player in the Minnesota Vikings preseason opener

The Minnesota Vikings opened their NFL preseason schedule with a 24-23 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday. In the win, Nailor hauled in 3 catches, garnering 63 yards, and cemented himself as a solid candidate for a starting spot with the Vikings offense.

Nailor’s performance was praised by Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, and now, PFF has released that the former Spartan wide receiver was the highest graded Viking in the preseason opener.

Of note, another former Spartan, Trishton Jackson also was listed in the top five ranked players.
