The Grizzlies are picking up the team-optioned year on Xavier Tillman’s contract

Xavier Tillman isn’t going anywhere. The Memphis Grizzlies have officially announced that they are exercising the team option on Tillman’s contract, keeping him in Memphis for at least one more season.

Tillman had a small breakout towards the end of the 2022-23 season, showing the value he brings to the National Basketball Association. He will look now to receive a new contract through another good 2023-24 season.

Draymond Green opts out, set to test free agency

Draymond Green is set to become an unrestricted free agent after opting out:

Draymond Green has made his decision, and he is officially opting out of the last year of his contract with the Golden State Warriors. Green will now look to make his next move, gaining long term stability for the next phase of his career.

Green will now be granted the opportunity to explore options with other teams, while working with the Warriors on resigning a contract to stay in the Bay Area.

Jim Jackson praises Xavier Tillman’s NBA growth

An NBA analyst praised Xavier Tillman’s NBA growth, comparing it to his days at MSU:

Xavier Tillman took the NBA by storm in after a breakout performance in game two of the Western Conference first round matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers. Tillman scored a team high 22 points, while snagging 13 rebounds, in the team’s win.

Known by Spartans fans as a Big Ten and Big East analyst, Jim Jackson is also an NBA analyst on FS1, and Jackson praised Tillman’s growth following this career night, comparing it to his MSU days.

Former MSU basketball star Draymond Green back at the center of controversy

Draymond Green is back at the center of controversy:

Draymond Green has found himself at the center of controversy, once again.

In game two of an opening round playoff series between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, Green got tangled up with Kings center Domantas Sabonis. While it appeared Sabonis grabbed and tugged Green’s ankle, Green followed it with a stomping motion towards Sabonis. 

The play has been the center of NBA discussion. No comment from the league has been made.

Jaren Jackson Jr. wins 2022-23 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award

BREAKING: Jaren Jackson Jr. has won the 2022-23 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award

In breaking news, Jaren Jackson Jr. has won the 2022-23 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award. This is the first time in his career that he has taken home the award.

Jackson was a member of the 2021-22 NBA All-Defensive first team, while also leading the NBA in blocks in blocks in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.

Jackson’s defense has been known to Spartan fans after winning the 2017-18 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year award and he has continued that prowess in the NBA.

The former Spartan duo went off on Tuesday:

Tom Izzo’s 2017 recruiting class is showing off and flexing its muscle in the NBA once again. Xavier Tillman and Jaren Jackson Jr. are teamed up together with the Memphis Grizzlies, reuniting after their time in East Lansing.

In the Grizzlies game against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, the former Spartan duo went off, combining for 36 points and 19 rebounds.

Tillman had 20 points and 9 rebounds, while Jackson Jr. had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Jaren Jackson Jr. had a huge sequence in the Grizzlies game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.

Jackson, showed off his defensive prowess with a great steal that he used his length to initiate. Following the steal he moved the ball up, but after a missed shot in transition, Jackson came flying in to hammer home a put back slam.
