Chris Carson, Carlos Hyde still feeling impact of earlier injuries

Seattle Seahawks running backs Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde are both still feeling the impact of the injuries that sidelined them earlier.

The Seattle Seahawks have seen the return of their one-two running back punch over the last couple of weeks now that starter Chris Carson (foot) and Carlos Hyde (hamstring) have returned from their injuries.

The impact of those injuries, however, is still lingering for both running backs. Coach Pete Carroll said neither Carson nor Hyde were able to complete all the plays during practice last week.

“Carlos was sore going in right up to game time, so we had to adjust a little bit to it,” Carroll said Monday during his 710 ESPN Seattle interview. “That’s not the way we had hoped it would be by game time. I need to see how Chris is now. The soreness in his foot isn’t gone but he’s playing with it. The soreness in Carlos’ toe isn’t gone, either, so both those guys got issues but they’re making it through the game.”

Carson and Hyde both appeared in Sunday’s contest with Carson handling the bulk of the load, logging 11 carries for 65 yards and three catches for 45 yards and a receiving touchdown on the day.

“I’m hoping that they’re just that much further along this week and as we finish the fourth quarter of the season that our guys are ready to go, but I can’t tell you that right now,” Carroll concluded.

The Seahawks return to practice Wednesday to begin to prepare to face the Jets in Week 14.

Seahawks to place wide receiver Phillip Dorsett II on injured reserve

The Seattle Seahawks are placing receiver Phillip Dorsett II on the injured reserve due to his sore foot but he can return in three weeks.

The Seattle Seahawks are going to give wide receiver Phillip Dorsett II a little more time to heal before he makes an appearance on game day.

Coach Pete Carroll ruled out Dorsett for the Week-3 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday and now it looks like Dorsett is headed to the injured reserve.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news Tuesday afternoon.

“The Seahawks are placing WR Phillip Dorsett on injured reserve, source said,” Pelissero tweeted. “It’ll give Dorsett some time for his ailing foot to get calmed down. He’s eligible to return in three weeks.”

With Seattle’s early bye this season, that gives Dorsett until Oct. 25 against the Cardinals to recover.“Phillip Dorsett, we’re looking to figure out how to work this out,” Carroll had told reporters on Monday. “We need to give him a break to make sure that his foot is healed and back. He tried to get back this week to play in this past game and couldn’t do it, so we have to give him more time in that. We have to consider what we’re doing with that.”

Well, it looks like the decision is now made and Dorsett will be placed on the injured reserve.

The Seattle Seahawks will be without wide receiver Phillip Dorsett II for the third straight game next Sunday. Still battling a foot injury, he has been ruled out for the team’s Week-3 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

Coach Pete Carroll broke the news during his Monday afternoon press conference.

“Phillip Dorsett, we’re looking to figure out how to work this out,” Carroll told reporters. “We need to give him a break to make sure that his foot is healed and back. He tried to get back this week to play in this past game and couldn’t do it, so we have to give him more time in that. We have to consider what we’re doing with that.”

Carroll said Dorsett needs additional rest time and is not a part of the Week 3 game plan.

The Seahawks have an off day Tuesday but return to practice Wednesday to prepare to face Dallas.

The Seattle Seahawks only had two players listed on the official injury report ahead of Week 1’s matchup against the Falcons in Atlanta: tackle Cedric Ogbuehi, who has been ruled out (pec), and wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, listed as questionable with a foot injury.

Dorsett did not participate in practice on Friday.

“He’s got a sore foot that we’re trying to get through,” coach Pete Carroll said after the walkthrough. “We rested him today, so we’ll see what happens.”

Dorsett has missed work here and there throughout the summer due to his foot but Carroll doesn’t seem to know the extent of the injury.

“I don’t know how long it’s going to be, I don’t know that,” Carroll told reporters. “We’ve got to see how he does this weekend, then we’ll just take it really one day at a time, one step at a time. Phillip had a really good camp for us, we really like him in there, so we’ll see if we can get him back for this ballgame or not, I don’t know.”

Carroll mentioned both David Moore and Freddie Swain as possible options behind Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf on Sunday.
