My girls and I want to thank the millions of people who’ve shown support and love during this horrific time. Thank you for all the prayers. We definitely need them. We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe — the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna — a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri. We are also devastated for the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday, and we share in their grief intimately. There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now. I take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved. We were so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. I wish they were here with us forever. They were our beautiful blessings taken from us too soon. I’m not sure what our lives hold beyond today, and it’s impossible to imagine life without them. But we wake up each day, trying to keep pushing because Kobe, and our baby girl, Gigi, are shining on us to light the way. Our love for them is endless — and that’s to say, immeasurable. I just wish I could hug them, kiss them and bless them. Have them here with us, forever. Thank you for sharing your joy, your grief and your support with us. We ask that you grant us the respect and privacy we will need to navigate this new reality. To honor our Team Mamba family, the Mamba Sports Foundation has set up the MambaOnThree Fund to help support the other families affected by this tragedy. To donate, please go to MambaOnThree.org. To further Kobe and Gianna’s legacy in youth sports, please visit MambaSportsFoundation.org. Thank you so much for lifting us up in your prayers, and for loving Kobe, Gigi, Natalia, Bianka, Capri and me. #Mamba #Mambacita #GirlsDad #DaddysGirls #Family ❤

Erroneous reports claiming Fox was one of the passengers on board circulated on social media in the aftermath of the incident. The 13-year NBA veteran reflected on the impact those stories had on the people closest to him. “My family went through, in the midst of all of this, something I couldn’t have imagined them experiencing,” Fox said during Tuesday’s TNT broadcast that paid tribute to the late NBA great. “A city is mourning, a family is mourning. We’re all mourning, and I’m glad that’s over with, but it was hard to deal with because it shook a lot of people in my life.”

Draymond Green posts emotional message following loss of Kobe Bryant

Draymond Green went to Instagram to post a heartfelt message in regards to the loss of NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, along with seven others, tragically passed away in a fatal helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on Sunday morning. The loss of a basketball icon like Bryant has caused an outpour of emotion from players across the league.

The teams in action on Sunday, following Bryant’s death, honored him by taking a 24-second violation to start the game as chants of “Kobe” echoed through arenas across the NBA.

The home of the Warriors, the Chase Center in San Francisco, doesn’t host a game until February 8. In the meantime, Golden State’s home dedicated its outdoor video monitor in honor of Bryant.

Players not in game-action went to social media to pay their respect to Bryant and his family. Stephen Curry, along with several other current members of the Golden State Warriors, chimed in with tributes to the late legend.

Draymond Green, who used Twitter to react to the news of Bryant’s death initially, later went on Instagram to send a heartfelt message about the five-time NBA champion.

On Monday morning, Green used Instagram to share his thoughts on the passing of a “big brother” figure.

I’ve waited and waited with hope that this bad dream would end and I never had to make this post. Hoping that someone would report that it wasn’t You in that helicopter like they initially thought. I went to sleep on the couch yesterday while they talked about you on TV. I thought I’d wake up and the story would be gone. Only to wake up to more details of you being GONE. Kobe, I thank you for being the person that you were, the big brother that you were. Not only to myself but to many others. You left a legacy that’ll NEVER be forgotten. We lost one of the good guys. I’ll continue to pray for the Bryant family as well as all the other families affected by this horrific tragedy! RIP BEAN #GoneTooSoon

Golden State will start a five-game road swing on Tuesday in Bryant’s hometown of Philadelphia before returning to the Bay Area with the chance to honor him against his former club. The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Warriors on February 8 in their first game back in San Francisco following the road trip.

Ara Zobayan, the pilot, had held a commercial license since 2007, and was qualified to fly in bad weather conditions known as instrument flight rules, according to FAA records. He was also qualified to teach people to fly in those conditions, indicating that he had significant experience. Friends described him as experienced in social media posts after his death. Nevertheless, Jeff Guzzetti, a former crash investigator for the Federal Aviation Administration, said the weather could have been a factor in the crash and pointed to numerous incidents where pilots have been caught off guard.

Amari, Jaylon have memorable moments in Pro Bowl overshadowed by Bryants tragedy

Playing in the wake of the news of Kobe Bryant’s sudden death, Amari Cooper and Jaylon Smith provided highlights at the 2020 Pro Bowl.

The actual Pro Bowl game has long been a glorified walkthrough for the players involved, with little in the way of noteworthy on-the-field football action.

It’s about the honor of being selected, it’s a celebration of a well-played season, it’s a photo op that allows opponents from different teams to hook up for a few hours of unorthodox player combinations. It’s supposed to be fun… but despite a few bright moments for the Cowboys in attendance, the 2020 Pro Bowl was a thoroughly somber affair overshadowed by the tragic news of the day.

Word that NBA superstar Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna were among 9 killed in a California helicopter accident hit the players shortly before Sunday’s kickoff in Orlando. It made for a surreal scene as Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson reportedly huddled the NFC team in prayer and players sought details on the developing story from media members. Player introductions were subdued, to say the least.

Fans were also getting the news, and they soon took part in a mass tribute at Camping World Stadium during the AFC’s 38-33 victory.

The game often had a bizarre feel to it, even more disjointed than the typical All-Star affair. Cowboys fans did get to see wide receiver Amari Cooper haul in a six-yard touchdown strike from Wilson in the second quarter. Cooper ended the day with three catches for 24 yards.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott rushed just once for 4 yards. He did catch both balls thrown his way for another 15 yards. Oddly enough, Elliott also threw  an interception after his jump pass to Cooper on a halfback option was picked off by Steelers defensive back Joe Haden.

Linebacker Jaylon Smith was involved in twelve tackles, leading all Pro Bowlers on the day. Smith was on the field for several of the player tributes to Bryant, including a group fadeaway jump shot organized by Packers linebacker Za’Darius Smith.

It was one of many moments before, during, and after the game that honored the 41-year old Lakers legend, whose 13-year-old daughter Gianna was also among those lost in the accident.

Many in the Cowboys family took to social media to share their thoughts on the tragedy.

Seattle Seahawks react to the death of Kobe Bryant

Seattle Seahawks players reacted on twitter to the death of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, who passed away in a helicopter crash at age 41.

The sports world was turned upside down Sunday afternoon following the shocking news that retired NBA superstar Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash outside of Calabasas. He was 41.

Bryant was among the greatest athletes of his generation, in any sport, and his death shocked and saddened just about everyone, including many former athletes who grew up inspired by the former Lakers superstar.

An outpouring of grief hit social media after the announcement, including a ton of messages from members of the Seattle Seahawks.

Bryant retired in 2016, scoring 60 points in his final game in a contest that captivated the entire league. He was an 18-time All-Star and is widely considered one of the five greatest players in NBA history.

Bryant finished his career scoring 33,643 points, which is fourth all-time just behind Lebron James – who passed him earlier this week and prompted the final tweet of Bryant’s life.

Our thoughts are with Bryant, his family and the NBA community following this tragedy.
