Saints could face adverse weather conditions in their Week 16 matchup

The Saints could be facing some adverse weather conditions in Week 16, as they travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers

The New Orleans Saints do not face much cold weather, being from Louisiana and playing indoors pretty much rules that out for home games and their division is typically in warm locations as well (with the exception of occasional late-season games with the Carolina Panthers).

However, In Week 16 they could be facing cold weather in their matchup, as they travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers. As of right now, the weather predictions from multiple weather outlets place this game well below freezing, with the following being predicted by the respective sources:

  • The Weather Channel: Monday will be a high of 33 degrees, low of 28 degrees with a 24% chance of snow or sleet throughout the day. High chance of snow Thursday as well before freezing temps Friday through Sunday.
  • Google Weather: Monday will be a high of 29 degrees, low of 25 degrees with a 35% chance of precipitation, likely snow.
  • AccuWeather: Monday will be a high of 28 degrees, low of 24 degrees with a 65% chance of precipitation, likely snow.
  • National Weather Service: No direct weather for Monday as of yet, but 6-10 day outlook expects temperature to be near or slightly below average for this time of year.

Ultimately, there is an extremely high chance of this being what is constituted as a “cold-weather game”, meaning it is below 32 degrees at kickoff. According to Stathead Football, the Saints have played 15 such games in their existence, and have a 6-9 record overall in those matchups. However, they are 2-0 in their most recent of these matchups, which were in 2022 against the Cleveland Browns (6 degrees at kickoff, 17-10 victory) and 2010 against the Cincinnati Bengals (32 degrees at kickoff, 34-30 victory).

Of these 15 matchups, two have been at Lambeau Field, the first in 1971 (30 degrees at kickoff, 29-21 victory), and the second was 1976 (31.8 degrees at kickoff, 27-32 loss). This will be the first time however (pending the temperature) that the Saints have ever played a “cold-weather game” on Monday Night Football. Ultimately we will see if they can handle the temperature regardless, and the potential snow, as they get what could be their final primetime game of the 2024 season.

Watch: Young moose plays in snow until it sees reflection in window

Footage shows the moose prancing around a yard in Steamboat Springs, Colo., until it becomes startled by the sight of itself.

Fresh snow on a wintry morning can be invigorating for young critters that aren’t fully accustomed to seasonal weather changes.

That appeared to be the case, anyway, for a young moose Monday in Steamboat Springs, Colo. That is, until the moose was startled by its reflection and hurried back to mom.

The accompanying footage, captured by a Ring camera and credited to Shannon Lukens, was shared by Steamboat Radio with the description:

“How are you enjoying the snow this morning? This young moose is with mom and a sibling in the Fish Creek Falls Road area. It was doing fine until it saw its reflection in the window.”

Steamboat Sprigs is expecting snow showers through most of Tuesday.

See what 8 of the most popular national parks look like in the snow

Take a look.

Every year, millions of tourists visit America’s national parks. Not every park gets the same amount of visitors, though.

In 2023, some of the most visited national parks were Great Smoky Mountains, Grand Canyon, and Zion. The year’s number one most visited park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, recorded 13,297,647 recreation visits. Grand Canyon National Park came in second place, with 4,733,705 recreation visits.

Unless you’re a winter sports enthusiast, you probably haven’t thought much about visiting national parks during snowy season. But, if you want to avoid crowds, winter might be the perfect time to visit some of the country’s most popular parks. Visitors who time their trips just right will even get to see these magical landscapes covered in shimmering, sparkling snow.

Take a look at what some of the most visited national parks look like in the snow with the gallery of stunning photos below.

Can you ski in Flagstaff then get back to the WM Phoenix Open all in one day? We tried (perhaps foolishly)

Many watch the WM Phoenix Open and think Arizona is wall-to-wall saguaros and oppressive heat. It’s not.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — This week’s “chilly” weather at the WM Phoenix Open puts the metro’s typically balmy climate into perspective. While those who normally partake in the 16th hole chaos often don little more than a tank top, shorts and flip-flops, this week’s rain and cooler temps have brought out winter gear, with some wearing puffy coats and ski hats to watch the world’s best players.

But at its core, the popular event is known for sunshine and blue skies, giving many from around the nation — and the world — the impression that Arizona is wall-to-wall saguaros and overwhelming heat. The Grand Canyon State, however, boasts one of the country’s most intriguing and diverse ecosystems.

For example, while players were starting the first round at TPC Scottsdale on Thursday, students in the mountain town of Flagstaff just 140 or so miles to the north were enjoying their second straight snow day after a series of storms rolled through.

This got us thinking: Could we get up to Flagstaff’s ski area, Arizona Snowbowl, and get back in time to see some afternoon action at the WMPO? We decided to give it a shot.

Here’s how the day unfolded:

NFL reschedules Bills-Steelers playoff game due to dangerous weather in Buffalo

The NFL reschedules its playoff game between the Bills and Steelers due to dangerous weather. Here’s the updated wild-card round schedule:

You don’t see this too often: the NFL rescheduled its wild-card round playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills due to a dangerous weather event closing in on western New York — the area around already-snowbound Highmark Stadium is expected to receive another foot or two of snow over the next 24 hours.

It’s a serious situation. Gusting winds and bands of snow rolling in from Lake Erie are dropping visibility to near-zero, per the National Weather Service.

Hopefully everyone can stay safe and weather the storm. So instead of kicking off in the middle of all that, the Bills and Steelers will square off after the worst has blown over on Monday. The end result? Three days of doubleheaders. Here’s what the NFL wild-card round schedule looks like now:

Steelers vs Bills: Wild Card playoff weather update

The forecast is calling for heavy snow in the second half of this week’s game.

It sounds like the weather for this week’s playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills is getting worse by the day. From the moment the game was announced, we knew the Steelers would be playing in bitter cold and high winds. Not as bad as what the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins will see in Kansas City on Saturday but is still very significant.

Now there is a twist. According to multiple projections, heavy snow could move into the area during the game and really dump plenty of the wet stuff on both teams.

Heavy snow just compounds what is going to be a sloppy football game with a heavy emphasis on running the football. Both teams are capable of running the ball with great success and with the potential of a second half full of snow could seriously change the Steelers gameplan.

Andy Reid comments on potentially brutal weather for Chiefs’ matchup vs. Dolphins

Chiefs HC Andy Reid comments on the potential inclement weather this Saturday

The Kansas City Chiefs are on the journey to another Super Bowl title, with their first roadblock being the wild card round against the Miami Dolphins. The Midwest area is expecting a significant winter storm before the game that could make conditions difficult for both teams.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters on Tuesday in his weekly press conference to address the possible concerns of bad weather this weekend playing a factor in the game.

“I don’t think you bank on all that. That’s where you get into trouble,” Reid explained. “Guys are pretty resilient. And so you get you get yourself ready. And if it works out that way for you or whatever. I don’t know how to quantify that. You know, so I just say get ready for the game. Let’s do that. I don’t really care what goes on out here. We’re not having a snowball fight.”

Reid’s snowball fight comment sparked laughter throughout the press room as he diminished the importance of the weather playing a factor. Saturday night is expected to be one of the coldest games in Arrowhead Stadium history, adding an extra element of potential difficulty to the contest.

Ludvig Aberg carrying a snow broom in his bag during a round of golf in Sweden feels like holiday magic

Aberg expected milder temperatures, but instead got a layer of snow on his home course.

Ludvig Aberg is quickly ascending to Swedish golf royalty after his selection to the European Ryder Cup team as well as a pair of professional victories in what was a whirlwind year of 2023.

A year ago at this time, Aberg was plying his trade in the flat, warm climes of Lubbock, Texas, as a member of the Texas Tech men’s golf team.

The native of Eslov, Sweden, captured the Omega European Masters in September for his first DP World Tour victory and then followed up soon after by claiming his first PGA Tour title in just his 11th start with a four-round total of 29-under 253 at the RSM Classic, tying the lowest 72-hole score in Tour history.

Aberg missed just one cut in 11 starts during the Tour’s fall schedule, and finished inside the top 25 eight times, including a runner-up at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

And with royalty comes the spoils, right?

Aberg enjoyed some well-deserved time off by heading back to his native country and snuck in a round at Valkommen till Eslovs Golfklubb, the course where he was introduced to the game by his father.

But while Aberg expected milder temperatures, he instead got a layer of snow on his home course. Rather than sit the day out, he took to the links with an additional accessory in his bag: a broom to sweep away the snow.

“The biggest challenge is probably to get the tee in the ground,” Aberg said during the clip.

The Swedish club was founded in 1968 with the building of the first nine, but the course is located on historic land that belonged to the Ellinge Manor dating back to the 12th century.

Ellinge Castle can be seen from holes 11 and 12, a spot Aberg passed consistently by during his rise to royalty.

WATCH: Taylor Swift documents snowy conditions at Lambeau for Chiefs matchup vs. Packers

Taylor Swift was seen taking a video of the snowy conditions at Lambeau Field for the #Chiefs’ Week 13 matchup against the #Packers.

Taylor Swift was seen taking a video of the snowy conditions at Lambeau Field for the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 13 matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.

The iconic singer is in attendance for the game to support her romantic interest, All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, for the first time after her tour Eras Tour in South America ended.

Lambeau Field is one of the NFL’s most iconic places and is known for its snowy conditions. Swift’s attendance at the primetime matchup is sure to bring a new audience to the storied stadium in Eastern Wisconsin.

While seeing her reactions to big plays may be what the “Swifties” tune in for, Chiefs fans have another concern entirely. A win on Sunday night could have huge implications for Kansas City’s fight to earn the AFC’s No. 1 playoff seed, and with a cultural fixture like Swift in the stands, all eyes will be on the Chiefs.
