Snoop Dogg, Triller to form new boxing platform ‘The Fight Club’

Snoop Dogg is teaming with Triller co-owner Ryan Kavanaugh to form a boxing league called “The Fight Club.”

Snoop Dogg evidently is just getting started in the boxing business.

The rapper, whose commentary during the Mike Tyson-Roy Jones Jr. exhibition won rave reviews, reportedly is teaming with Triller co-owner Ryan Kavanaugh to form a boxing league called “The Fight Club.”

Kavanaugh, speaking to TMZ, said Tyson-Jones was the kickoff promotion of the new platform.

“This is gonna be big,” he told TMZ. “… The whole idea is we want to change up the way that boxing is done.”

Kavanaugh said that The Fight Club will feature both sanctioned and non-sanctioned bouts, apparently including fights between celebrities. It will also include musical acts, as fans saw during the Tyson-Jones pay-per-view broadcast.

Kavanaugh teased an upcoming event that he believes will be bigger than Tyson-Jones, which reportedly generated a healthy 1.2 million pay-per-view buys.

“I can tell you that the main fight — I can’t say it yet — but it’s gonna be something that everybody wants to see,” he said.

“If you thought [Tyson vs. Jones] is big, I think that this would be even larger from a worldwide-appetite perspective and something that people want to see.”

Fans can expect Snoop Dogg to be on the new platform’s broadcasts.

LeBron James was enthralled by Snoop Dogg’s boxing commentary on Saturday

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was watching last night’s Pay Per View and came away thrilled with the performance of Snoop Dogg.

Like many sports fans last night across the country, LeBron James was tuned into the bizarre pay per view event featuring the bout between legendary fighters Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. as the main event. However, LeBron’s biggest takeaway wasn’t the knockout of his NBA brethren Nate Robinson at the hands of YouTube star Jake Paul, but the commentary by Snoop Dogg.

Snoop is a huge sports fan, particularly a huge fan of the Lakers, where he has never been shy to show off his knowledge and his opinion. But last night he took things to a new level, becoming a full-on analyst during the fight and earning rave reviews from LeBron and others like Stephen A. Smith.

Snoop’s commentary and jokes were the talk of the fight, as two fighters well past their athletic heyday were the featured act, Mike Tyson was apparently doing some Snoop Dogg approved activities on fight night.

Jared Dudley didn’t like the way Snoop Dogg called out Danny Green during Finals

The Los Angeles Lakers forward thought that there would be better ways to get a better performance other than bullying on social media.

It was thankfully only a short-lived storyline during the NBA Finals but one of the uglier ones was when Danny Green and his fiance were the subject of death threats after Green missed what would have been a go-ahead shot in Game 5 of the 2020 NBA Finals. The Lakers eventually won in Game 6 a couple of days later, but members of the team did not forget what happened. In particular, there were one fan’s comments that bothered Lakers forward Jared Dudley, those from noted Lakers super fan Snoop Dogg.

Dudley discussed what he saw as unproductive shaming of Green on the part of Snoop Dogg, while also discussing other things fans say on social media, such as a petition to deny Kyle Kuzma a championship ring or comments saying Dudley was also undeserving of the team award, on Complex’s Load Management podcast. The statement was transcribed by Christian Rivas of SB Nation.

“Nah, nah, because I’m someone where I don’t question your fandom, because for one, he’s solidified, he’s cemented when it comes to fandom. I’m questioning your tactic on a trying to help a player help win your team a championship … My only problem with it was you can’t call no man a bitch … My whole thing is when you come to that, now we’re getting on something personal. And you know when you grow up, I don’t care what age you are, you hear that word, you’re automatically thinking fighting. We’re not fighting Snoop Dogg. He’s a fan…

My whole thing was that he wanted to win so bad, (he) got out of character. We all get out of character. I do that with my kids when I get mad at them when they slip up and I say something or do something I regret. I get it, but it’s like listen, you don’t think this man wants to hit a shot? This man shoots hundreds of shots every day. You don’t know what he’s going through in his personal life, you don’t his body. And you know what? No fan wants to hear all that. I agree. You don’t have to hear about it, just let the man work his way up, and look at it, next game, we win, he hits two threes, and now all is forgotten.”

Snoop is arguably the most visible and most famous Lakers fan there is today, so him using his massive platform to bash Green and call negative attention to him is obviously something the Lakers had a problem with. However, the passions of fandom can often go into a negative place and it’s not as if Snoop was hoping to have Green and his family received death threats. Luckily for both sides, the season is over and the Lakers have risen to glory once again.

Snoop Dogg’s new Lakers championship tattoo includes a Kobe Bryant tribute

Snoop Dogg has a new Lakers tattoo celebrating their new title and paying tribute to Kobe Bryant.

Snoop Dogg is one of the biggest Lakers fans out there. He’s always rooted hard for the team — even during their down days.

So when they made it back to the playoffs and finally got a chance to compete for another championship for the first time in a decade, he was one of their loudest celebrity fans out there on social media.

And, since they won, it’s celebration mode for Snoop now and the rest of the Lakers fans now. To celebrate the Lakers’ new championship, Snoop got a new tattoo.

He showed it off on Twitter. It features Kobe Bryant’s initials at the bottom on his wrist, the championship trophy on his forearm with “Lakers” written through the top and clouds at the top representing “the gates of heaven.”

That’s a dope look, Snoop.

LeBron James was hyped off the DMX vs. Snoop Dogg Verzuz battle

LeBron James was happy to be tuned in to the battle with Snoop Dogg and DMX from the NBA Bubble on Wednesday night.

LeBron James was one of many hundreds of thousands to tune into Wednesday night’s Verzuz battle between Snoop Dogg and DMX. Both MCs played their hits which extend over several decades and the type of lyrical excellence on display on Wednesday night was enough to get LeBron James hyped about it in the comments.

James himself is obviously a passionate hip-hop fan and when things are relatively normal, he will usually bring us in on the music he is sampling while he is going between work and home. But James was excited and moved to post in all caps while watching Snoop and DMX trade hits.

While Wednesday was definitely a battle, it was also pretty awesome to watch considering how both rappers hyped each other up while doing their respective songs. As we have heard, LeBron has been moving pretty freely throughout the campus, but he made sure not to miss tonight’s battle. His Lakers teammate Jared Dudley was also in the comments on Wednesday, so the Lakers keep doing things together, even while in their own hotel rooms.

Oklahoma’s Marquise Brown wins ESPN Celebrity Madden Tournament

Marquise Brown took down rapper Snoop Dogg to take home the ESPN Celebrity Madden Tournament crown.

Hollywooooooooood!

Former Oklahoma and current Baltimore Ravens speedster wideout Marquise Brown took down rapper Snoop Dogg to take home the ESPN Celebrity Madden Tournament crown.

Brown took down rapper YG 43-14 using his Ravens against YG’s Chiefs in the opening round of the tournament. He rolled onto the semifinals with a 40-0 shutout win over Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon who used his former team, the Los Angeles Chargers.

In the semifinals, Brown squared up against UFC fighter Chris Weidman in another Ravens-Chiefs matchup. Brown used teammate and league MVP, Lamar Jackson, to call ‘game’. Up 10 with just under two minutes to go Brown took Jackson to the house in a 59-35 win.

Hollywood saved his best for last in the championship game. Against Snoop Dogg and the San Francisco 49ers, Brown used himself to score two fourth-quarter touchdowns to come back from a 28-16 deficit in a 60-42 win, the slimmest margin of victory for Brown.

Both scores came unconventionally as Brown ran back a kick and then used himself in the wildcat to help put away Snoop Dogg.

With the tournament win, Feeding America receives a donation of an undisclosed amount in Brown’s name.
