A list of Kyrie Irving’s philanthropy over the years

HoopsHype lists all of Kyrie Irving’s philanthropic and charity actions over the years, a long list amounting to a lot of money.

Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving often makes headlines for his off-court actions, typically in a less favorable light. With a history of trade requests, controversial remarks, and sitting out games, Irving has not exactly endeared himself to the average NBA fan since his 2016 Finals Game 7 dagger to help bring the Cleveland Cavaliers their first and only title in franchise history.

However, there’s another side to Irving that deserves attention. He has made significant philanthropic contributions throughout his career, supporting a wide range of causes and aiding those in need.

Below, check out a list of Kyrie Irving’s philanthropy and charity donations that we could find reports on.

Dorian Finney-Smith had his fifth …

Dorian Finney-Smith had his fifth annual basketball camp for kids in his hometown. It was a huge success with so many youth taking part (more than 150) that the camp staff ran out of T-Shirts. But there was more than just a camp. Finney-Smith also had his first black-tie affair to raise money for Finney Family First Foundation, which drew a lot of luminaries and for which Mark Cuban was the keynote speaker.

“Dorian’s just an awesome guy,” Cuban …

“Dorian’s just an awesome guy,” Cuban told WAVY.com, a Hampton Roads-area news outlet. “He’s got a heart of gold and he cares about his community. He’s someone who worked hard. He wasn’t expected to be here. And here he is. So when somebody can lift themselves up through their own sheer hard work, you got to respect that. And when you’re a great human being like Doe-Doe is, I’m going to be there. He means so much.”

John Calipari: This is what makes you proud as a coach. I didn’t want to ask any of our former guys for help since six months ago they gave to the tornado victims in west Kentucky, but without my asking, @AntDavis23 got in touch with me tonight. After watching all of the devastation and, knowing what our players did tonight – he has offered to give $350,000 to the Kentucky Flood Relief. That’s servant leadership in action, that’s staying connected to this program and this state. Love you, Ant.

More on this storyline

Some potential good news for the aforementioned Lakers and the soon-to-be-extension-eligible James: Anthony Davis’ surprising disclosure in mid-June that he hadn’t shot a basketball since early April might have been a blessing in disguise. Davis, by all accounts, has been working out with increased diligence ever since his comments generated a wave of strong criticism. -via marcstein.substack.com / July 30, 2022
That may or may not be true considering that Davis hasn’t been consistently healthy, and the Boston Celtics might be able to trump a Lakers offer with Jaylen Brown as a centerpiece. An Indiana package may offer more depth, but is it enough? “What do Buddy and Turner do for the Lakers? Add a 5 percent chance the team wins a title?” an NBA executive said. “That’s probably worth one protected first, but certainly not two.” “Maybe if they could combine the Nets and Pacers into one trade, bring back Kyrie, Turner and Buddy, that’d be worth giving up a couple of firsts,” the executive continued. “Even if that saved the Nets a ton of money and Indiana got two firsts out of it, do they agree to work together to help LeBron and the Lakers contend?” -via Bleacher Report / July 28, 2022
