NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:05 a.m. E.T.

Prediction

Pelicans 114, Lakers 112

Moneyline (ML)

The Lakers (-115) are playing their second road game in back-to-back nights, but they are still road moneyline favorites over the PELICANS (-106) on Sunday evening. With the Lakers missing SG Danny Green and having an older roster, it wouldn’t be a shock to see them come out somewhat flat in New Orleans. And given the value here, take the Pelicans to win at home.

New to sports betting? Bet $106 on the Pelicans -106 to earn a profit of $100 if the Pelicans win outright.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The PELICANS +1.5 (-115) are one basket underdogs to the Lakers on Sunday evening. New Orleans has played well, as of late, winning six of their last eight games. One of their two losses during that stretch was to the Lakers in Los Angeles. But it’s worth mentioning that the Lakers are 1-5 ATS in their last six games in New Orleans. Take the Pelicans and the points at the Smoothie King Arena.

New to sports betting? Bet $115 on the Pelicans +1.5 to earn a profit of $100 if the Pelicans win or lose by a point.

Over/Under (O/U)

The point total for this Western Conference matchup is set at 235.5, which feels a bit high considering both teams will likely be without their sharpshooting guards. This should be a fun back and forth game, but look for the UNDER (-110) to hit despite both sides averaging near 115 points per game this season.

Cavaliers at Pelicans: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:40 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Pelicans 124, Cavaliers 115

Moneyline (ML)

The Cavaliers (+600) have stunned the Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers in their past two outings, showing they’re no pushover; however, they cannot be trusted on the road against the Pelicans (-910), a team which beat the Cavs 125-111 Jan. 28 even though super rookie Zion Williamson posted just 14 points. AVOID.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Pelicans ML returns a profit of just $1.10 if they win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Take the CAVALIERS (+12.5, -115), who are playing perhaps their best basketball of the season. The Cavs are 5-1 ATS in their past six road outings, 4-1 ATS in their past five as an underdog and 5-1 ATS in their past six as a road dog. The Pelicans (-12.5, -106) are 9-4 ATS in their past 13 at home, but double digits might be a bit much against the surging Cavs.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 237.5 (-106), which has cashed in five of the past six meetings in this series, while going 12-2 in the previous 14 battles in the Crescent City. The Over is also 10-3 in NOLA’s past 13 at home, and 19-7 in its past 26 overall.

Oklahoma City Thunder at New Orleans Pelicans odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s Oklahoma City Thunder at New Orleans Pelicans sports betting odds, with NBA matchup analysis and picks.

The Oklahoma City Thunder (32-22) meet the New Orleans Pelicans (23-31) in the final game prior to the All-Star Break at the Smoothie King Center for an 8 p.m. ET tip off. We analyze the Thunder-Pelicans odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

Thunder at Pelicans: Key injuries

Thunder

  • SF Darius Miller (Achilles) out

Thunder at Pelicans: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 2 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Pelicans 110, Thunder 108

Moneyline (ML)

The Thunder (+140) head into their fourth game against the Pelicans (-167), holding a 3-0 season-series lead. But New Orleans has played well recently, winning three straight, while Oklahoma City has lost back-to-back games. The reason for this is obvious: Zion Williamson. With Zion in the lineup, the Pelicans are 5-4 and he’s averaging an impressive 21.0 points, on 57.6% shooting, and 7.7 rebounds per game.

However, do we get the above-.500 Pelicans with Zion team or the one that is eight games under .500? The Thunder’s 24-6 record against below-.500 teams speaks volumes. Furthermore, Ingram’s status should be monitored if you’re considering betting this game. In their first meeting, Ingram left early with an injury and the Pelicans lost 115-104.

This is a coin flip game and I will NOT WAGER on the moneyline.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The trends heavily favor the Thunder +3.5 (-115). Oklahoma City has the best ATS record on the road at 20-5, and is a solid 17-4 ATS as a road dog. The Thunder fair better in games projected to be down to the wire than the Pelicans: Oklahoma City is 11-4 ATS when getting 1-2.5 points and New Orleans is 3-6 ATS when laying 1-2.5 points. Finally, the Thunder have the best ATS record in conference games at 24-11.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS. The line is 233.5 (Over -115, Under -106). All three Thunder-Pelicans games this season have went Under the projected total. But just like the moneyline, the Over/Under seems to be a toss-up. If you handicap the Pelicans to win then you have to like the Over since they are third in Pace and score for the fourth most points per game. But if you like the Thunder then the Under suits you more because they’re 23rd in Pace, 10th in opponent’s points per game and have an O/U record of 25-28-1. I’m PASSING here.

Portland Trail Blazers at New Orleans Pelicans odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Portland Trail Blazers at New Orleans Pelicans sports betting odds and lines, with NBA betting picks, tips and bets.

The Portland Trail Blazers (25-29) are in the Big Easy to play the New Orleans Pelicans (22-31) at Smoothie King Center at 8 p.m. ET Tuesday. We analyze the Trail Blazers-Pelicans odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

  • Jusuf Nurkic (leg) out

Trail Blazers at Pelicans: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at  2 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Pelicans 121, Blazers 114

Moneyline (ML)

I cannot back the Pelicans (-154) because of the steep price and the unknown status of their only All-Star, Ingram, who suffered a sprained ankle against the Chicago Bulls last Thursday. Williamson also suffered an ankle sprain but indicated in a post-practice interview he would be available Tuesday. Ingram is the Pelicans’ leading scorer, though, and against a Blazers team leading the NBA in points per game over the past 10 games, the Pelicans draw a PASS at this price point.

Over those 10 games, Portland has a 7-3 overall record with wins over quality opponents like the Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets. Those were keyed by All-Star PG Damian Lillard scoring 40 or more points in six of those games. In the Blazers’ first meeting with the Pelicans this season, Lillard made just 6 of 21 field goals, missing all 10 3-pointers and scoring just 18 points in a 102-94 loss Dec. 23.

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

PELICANS (-2.5, -115) is the play here because of how reliant the Blazers offense is on MVP-contender, Lillard, and New Orleans’ success guarding him the last game. In general, the Blazers hardly move the ball—Portland is last in passes made, assists per game and assist-points created—so that’ll make it easier for the 22nd defensive rated Pelicans.

Moreover, this is a better gambling spot for the Pelicans. New Orleans is a better against the spread team (27-24-2 ATS record) than the Blazers (23-29-2 ATS record). The Blazers are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in New Orleans. The Pelicans are 10-5-2 ATS when playing with a rest advantage and Portland is 8-10 ATS as a road dog with a minus-7.2 margin of victory.

Over/Under (O/U)

Holy smokes, the 240.5 total is too high. I get it, the combined Over/Under record of the Blazers and Pelicans is 60-47 and both teams are ranked high in scoring and low in team defense. There are just too many ways this game goes UNDER 240.5 (-115), including Holiday and Lonzo Ball doing a good job defensively against Lillard and the possible absence of Ingram. Also, the last three Blazers-Pelicans games went Under the total.

Grizzlies at Pelicans: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9:35 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Pelicans 112, Grizzlies 111

Moneyline (ML)

The PELICANS (-222) are the play at home. They’re five games out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference, but with F Zion Williamson easing into the lineup for the stretch run, hope springs eternal in the Crescent City. The Grizzlies (+180) are hanging onto the eighth spot in the West right now, and they enter on a four-game winning streak, including victories in each of their past two outings.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The GRIZZLIES (+5.5, -115) are worth a look catching points in the Big Easy. Not only are they on a four-game winning streak, but they’re 4-0 ATS during the span, too, and 18-7-1 ATS across the past 26 overall. Memphis has also covered four of the past five games on the road. The Grizz will be looking to avenge a 126-116 loss at FedExForum back on Jan. 20, and that was before Zion made his debut.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 239.5 (+100) is the play in this battle of southern rivals. The Under is 7-2 across the past nine games for the Grizzlies, including that Jan. 20 meeting which had a line of 242.5. That game actually hit the Under by just a half-point. Expect fewer points, with better defense for NOLA with Zion in the middle.

Boston Celtics at New Orleans Pelicans odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s Boston Celtics at New Orleans Pelicans sports betting odds, with NBA matchup analysis and picks.

The Boston Celtics (30-14) head down to the Big Easy to play the New Orleans Pelicans (17-29) in the Smoothie King Center at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday. We analyze Celtics-Pelicans odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

Celtics at Pelicans: Key injuries

CELTICS

  • PG Marcus Smart (hand) probable
  • SG Jaylen Brown (ankle) questionable
  • SG Jayson Tatum (groin) questionable
  • Enes Kanter (hip) out
  • Robert Williams III (hip) out

PELICANS

  • PG Jrue Holiday (knee) probable

  • SF Darius Miller (Achilles) out

Celtics at Pelicans: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Pelicans 118, Celtics 114

Moneyline (ML)

The Pelicans have suffered from inaccurate pricing because of Zion Williamson‘s debut with New Orleans losing both of his games outright and against the spread. And Boston has played really well of late, winning straight up and covering in its previous three games. But New Orleans is finally getting points and is the far healthier team: Zion has arrived and Boston has Brown, Tatum and Smart dinged up — whether they play is still up in the air but them being 100% is out of the question. This should allow Brandon Ingram and Zion to drive to the basket and space the court for JJ Redick (.465 3-point %) and E’Twaun Moore (.394 3-point %) to get some good looks.

BET PELICANS (pick ’em) to win outright. New to sports betting? Bet $75 to earn a $75 profit if the Pelicans win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Truth be told you can find team-friendly trends for either team in this game but the Pelicans’ stuff pops out more. New Orleans is 9-1-1 against the spread in its last 11 games as an underdog and it generally steps up when rested two or more days: the Pelicans are 6-2 ATS in those spots. Also, the Pelicans are 8-4 ATS at home against above-.500 teams. More about that, New Orleans has played the toughest schedule in the NBA thus far while the Celtics have played the 28th-ranked schedule.

TAKE PELICANS +2.5 (-125) as insurance for our moneyline bet above. New to sports betting? Bet $125 on Pelicans to win outright or to lose by no more than 2 points to earn $100.

Over/Under (O/U)

lean toward the Over 230.5 (-115) because the Over is 12-2 in Pelicans’ last 14 overall and the combined over/under record of the two teams is 46-44. But ultimately I will PASS THE TOTAL since the Under is 4-1 in Celtics’ last five games as a road favorite and they are allowing just 99 points per game on Sundays.

Prediction

Pelicans 126, Spurs 117

Moneyline (ML)

Back the PELICANS (-167). In one of the most highly anticipated games for the NBA, we finally get to see rookie PF Zion Williamson in action for the first time in a regular-season game, barring a last-second setback. The crowd at Smoothie King Center will be rocking, and it will be interesting to see how head coach Alvin Gentry folds him into action with the Pellies doing well with SF Brandon Ingram up front and solid backcourt play lately.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The PELICANS (-3.5, -115) have the potential to be really good down the stretch. While they’re in last place of the Southwest Division, they’re just 3 1/2 games out of a playoff spot. They’re 3 games back of the Spurs (+3.5, -106), one team they’ll be chasing, so this is a super important game. The Pelicans will use the energy of Zion’s return to ‘spur’ them on to a win and cover.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 236.5 (-115) is worth a small-unit play, even with this high number. The Over is 11-1 in the past 12 games for the Pelicans, and 6-0 in their past six home games. The Over is 11-5 in San Antonio’s past 16 games overall, and 4-0 in the past four on the road against teams with a losing home record. All signs point to a high-scoring affair.

Jazz at Pelicans: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Jazz 117, Pelicans 100

Moneyline (ML)

The Jazz (-200) are heavy favorites against the banged-up Pelicans (+165), who cannot be trusted at home. They have just too many injuries to trust at home. AVOID. There just isn’t enough value in backing Utah with a $10 bet returning a profit of only $5 with an outright victory.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The JAZZ (-5.5, +105) have been good to me on this road trip, as I’ve played them both in Washington (-6.5) in an 11-point win, and in Brooklyn (-3) in an 11-point win last time out. Let’s continue to go to that well and take advantage of the banged-up Pellies.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 224.5 (+100) is a good play, especially since it’s uncertain who will be ready to go for NOLA. If we have a shorthanded situation for the home team, and a potential blowout, that is usually good news for Under bettors. Routs, and close games with no fouling, are the friends of an Under bettor.

Prediction

Nets 115, Pelicans 104

Moneyline (ML)

The NETS (-139) are coming off an impressive 20-point victory against the Philadelphia 76ers their last time out. They’re worth a look on the road against the skidding Pelicans (+115).

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The NETS (-1.5, -115) carry at 6-2 ATS mark into action across the past eight games overall, and they’re 7-2 ATS in the past nine against teams with a losing overall record. The Pelicans (+1.5, -106) are 1-10-1 ATS across the past 12 games overall, and they’re 0-5 in the past five at SKC.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 230.5 (-115), as the Under has connected in four of the past five for the Nets, while going 5-2 in their past seven as a favorite. The Under is 6-2 in the past eight for the Pellies, too.

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10:50 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Trail Blazers 114, Pelicans 103

Moneyline (ML)

The TRAIL BLAZERS (-154) were embarrassed against the Houston Rockets Monday night by a 132-108 score, but they’ll have a much better time of it against the struggling and banged-up Pelicans (+145).

New to sports betting? Every $1 wagered on a Portland win profits $0.65 if the Blazers prevail. (Ex: Bet $10 to win $6.50, $20 to win $13, $15.38 to win $10).

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Roll with the TRAIL BLAZERS (-3.5, –105), despite the fact they’re 1-4 against the spread in the past five road games and 2-7 ATS in the past nine in the second end of a back-to-back. They have reinforcements, as veteran Carmelo Anthony joins the squad.

The trends point to picking the Pelicans (+3.5, -106), but they’re just too banged up. They could be playing with a short bench, and that’s never a good thing.

Over/under (O/U)

The UNDER 230.5 (+105) is worth a look. Portland might have tired legs after just playing the night before in Houston, while New Orleans has some injury woes and they’ll be stretched thin, too. So their offense won’t exactly be on point, either. I love the Under in this one among all plays.
