Watch: ‘Compassionate’ elephant returns shoe dropped by child

Video has surfaced showing an elephant using its trunk to pick up a child’s shoe, which had fallen into its enclosure, and gently return the shoe to the child.

Video has surfaced showing an elephant using its trunk to pick up a child’s shoe, which had fallen into its enclosure, and gently return the shoe to the child.

“He is confined. But not his spirits & compassion,” Susanta Nanda described on X. “Returns the shoe of a child which accidentally fell in its enclosure.”

Nanda works for the Indian Forest Service, but the footage he obtained is from a facility in Weihai in Shandong Province, China.

Nanda added a hopeful sentiment in parenthesis: “Free wild [animals] from cages.”

Gabe Vincent almost forced a turnover with his loose shoe during Game 6 of Heat-Celtics

Miami Heat guard Gabe Vincent almost forced a turnover … with his loose shoe?!?!

Miami Heat guard Gabe Vincent found an incredibly creative way to try and force a turnover during his team’s latest Eastern Conference finals bout with the Boston Celtics.

At some point in Game 6’s second half, Vincent lost his shoe and picked it up during gameplay. As he was guarding Celtics guard Derrick White, Vincent went so far as to try and use his loose shoe to spark a steal.

“The shoe did it!” TNT broadcaster Kevin Harlan hilariously exclaimed about Vincent as he tried to make one of the funniest turnovers in NBA history.

While this isn’t necessarily routine in basketball, it’s quite a way to respond after losing your shoe on the court.

Losing your shoe during an NBA playoffs game is never an ideal situation to find yourself in, but all credit goes to Vincent for his clever response.

You can’t draw the play up quite like this, but you can bet that NBA players will be taking notes the next time one of their shoes pops off during a game.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander somehow grabbed a rebound while holding his lost shoe during Thunder-Pacers

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander snagged a rebound while holding a shoe. Like, woah.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander didn’t let a loose shoe keep him from snagging a rebound during a game on Friday night.

During the team’s evening tilt with the Indiana Pacers, Gilgeous-Alexander lost one of his shoes while going up for a layup.

However, the Thunder star grabbed the rogue sneaker and continued to play in the game. He even grabbed a one-handed defensive rebound while holding on to the shoe.

It’s hard enough as it is to snag a rebound while in motion during an NBA game, much less pull that off while holding one of your shoes in your hand. These guys are world-class athletes for a reason!

Gilgeous-Alexander is taking off as one of the best young stars in the NBA for a reason, and he can now add this fascinating highlight to his reel.

He can also take heart that he can pull something like this off just wearing one shoe.

LSU staffer shares photo of the shoe that doomed Florida

The LSU SID shared a photo of the cleat after the game. Unbelievable.

LSU, in the midst of a terrible season, managed to upset Florida on Saturday night in one of the big upsets of the college football season. The way they did it? Well, it involved a shoe.

Actually it involved one of the craziest endings to a college football game ever. And a shoe. See, Florida and LSU were tied 34-34 and LSU was facing fourth down after a big Gators stop. But after the play, Florida’s Marco Wilson picked up an LSU player’s shoe and hurled it down the field.

Wilson was penalized, LSU got a first down, then nailed a long field goal to give them the 37-34 win.

After the game, LSU’s Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette actually went and found the shoe in question, and snapped a photo of it, before posting that photo to Twitter.

That shoe right there might be what keeps Florida out of the College Football Playoff. Unbelievable. A shoe!

WATCH: The shoe-throwing penalty that cost Florida the game against LSU

The Florida Gators lost their game to the LSU Tigers in large part to a mental error by DB Marco Wilson, penalized for throwing a shoe.

The Florida Gators came into Saturday more than a three-touchdown favorite over the floundering LSU Tigers. The game was far closer than the oddsmakers had expected and ultimately came down to dueling field goal attempts.

With the game tied at 34, Florida had made a huge stop against the Tigers to force a three and out… until that pesky yellow flag came out of the referee’s pocket.

The call? Unsportsmanlike conduct on redshirt junior defensive back Marco Wilson. See, for some inexplicable reason, after the monster play on defense he felt the need to pick up a shoe that came loose off his opponent and yeet it downfield.

Behold, the play that killed the Florida Gators.

The entire turn of events was bizarre, to say the least, on-brand with how the game was turning out with a heavy fog rolling into The Swamp to create the spookiest of atmospheres. Ultimately, the penalty kept the Tigers’ drive alive and gave them the opportunity to make the decisive 57-yard field goal.

It is a mistake he will never forget. The Gators eventually lost, 37-34, after Evan McPherson missed a 51-yard attempt wide left of the goalposts as the clock expired.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson reflects on having Nike shoe line

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was able to collaborate with Nike to make a shoe called Dangeruss, but for him it means more.

Athletes are taught to play for the name on the front of their jersey, not the name on the back. However, nobody said anything about the name on their shoes, and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has had the opportunity to do exactly that.

Wilson certainly isn’t wearing the Nike Dangeruss shoes on the field while he crafts his MVP-caliber season, but having a Nike shoe still is one of the most surreal experiences of his life.

“It’s been a cool experience, you think about young kids all over the world, all over the country that you want to be able to impact and have an influence on,” Wilson said. “Hopefully they look up to you, hopefully they want to be like you, hopefully they want to be better than you. That’s what I want to inspire in everybody, why not them, why not you?”

Wilson sees all that in the shoe named after him. His ability on the field has allowed him to catapult himself into an influential spot and his shoe is just another positive in the success he’s had in his career.

It means more if people wear the shoe, which according to Wilson has not been a problem.

“People loved them,” Wilson said. “It’s always cool when you have your own shoe, people shout you out. With social nowadays, you get a lot of tweets and Instagram posts, I get a lot of those and try to shout some people out occasionally. It’s always cool when fans recognize all the hard work you put into everything.”

That hard work has manifested itself to success in a career where he was seen as the underdog for so long.

In 2019, the hard work has helped Wilson not only reach MVP numbers, but also lead his team to a 9-2 record.

Week 13 brings another tough test against the Vikings, and a chance to take over the number one seed in the NFC West.
