Auburn OT target Favour Edwin trending to SEC rival

Auburn and Alabama are battling for offensive tackle Favour Edwin.

Auburn’s coaches have been working to add more offensive linemen to the Tigers’ 2024 recruiting class but it has been tough. They currently have juat two commitments, four-star [autotag]DeAndre Carter[/autotag] and three-star [autotag]Seth Wilfred[/autotag], a JUCO product.

One of the players they’ve been looking to add to the class is three-star offensive tackle [autotag]Favour Edwin[/autotag], who is from McDonough, Georgia. The Tigers have hosted him on several visits and were seen as the favorite to land the 6-foot-7, 300-pounder.

That is no longer the case as Nick Saban and Alabama have stormed ahead of Auburn. They hosted him for an official visit on Dec. 8 and have received three crystal balls to land him from 247Sports recruiting experts since then.

Edwin is the No. 795 overall player and No. 59 offensive tackle in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 92 player from Georgia.

Auburn still has one high school target on the board ahead of the early signing period, four-star [autotag]Coen Echols[/autotag]. Auburn is the favorite to land the Texas product but LSU and Texas A&M are still involved.

Auburn lands JUCO OT Seth Wilfred

Auburn has dipped into the JUCO ranks to land a promising offenisve tackle in Seth Wilfred.

It didn’t take long for JUCO offensive lineman [autotag]Seth Wilfred[/autotag] to decide Auburn was the school for him after his official visit, announcing his commitment to the Tigers on Monday.

Wilfred spent just one season at Snow College before he started earning offers from FBS schools, including Auburn, Iowa State and Houston. Current Auburn defensive back [autotag]Keionte Scott[/autotag] also spent time at Snow College before coming to the Plains.

Originally from Nebraska, Wilfred did not play much as a senior after transferring to Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. This caused him to go the JUCO route and he could need some time to develop before he is ready to see the field for Auburn. The good news is he has three seasons of eligibility remaining and can also redshirt a season if needed.

He is Auburn’s 20th commit overall and the second along the offensive line in the 2024 cycle, joining four-star [autotag]DeAndre Carter[/autotag]. Auburn’s class now ranks 11th in the 247Sports team rankings.

Auburn in the mix to land JUCO OL Seth Wilfred

Wilfred is strongly considering Auburn as his next destination following a successful official visit to the Plains.

Auburn football coaches were very active this weekend as they hosted several recruits from junior college and the transfer portal for official visits.

Among those was JUCO offensive lineman [autotag]Seth Wilfred[/autotag], who left Auburn feeling pleased with his visit.

After his visit, he spoke with Caleb Jones of Rivals about his time on the Plains. Wilfred says that he was pleased with the community and atmosphere that Auburn presents, and he likes the idea of playing football under head coach [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and offensive line coach [autotag]Jake Thornton[/autotag].

How high is Auburn on his list of possible destinations?

“(Auburn is) Definitely pretty high on my list,” Wilfred said in an interview with Rivals. “The atmosphere you can’t really match it with anything else, it’s a really great place and I love it here.”

Before visiting Auburn, Wilfred visited Houston. He is also set to visit Iowa State next weekend before signing on Dec. 20 according to Jones.

Wilfred is a 6-6, 295 pound offensive lineman from Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. If he were to choose Auburn, Jones feels that Wilfred will be best suited as an offensive tackle.
