These 24 players will be honored during Wisconsin’s Senior Day festivities before Minnesota game

Wisconsin football announced its 2024 Senior Day honorees on Tuesday.

Those 24 honorees will be WR Haakon Anderson, LB Jake Chaney, CB R.J. Delancy III, CB Nyzier Fourqurean, WR Bryson Green, CB Ricardo Hallman, DL Elijah Hills, OG Joe Huber, OL Kerry Kodanko, CB Max Lofy, DL Cade McDonald, LS Duncan McKinley, K Gavin Meyers, WR Alex Moeller, OT Jack Nelson, TE Riley Nowakowski, LS Cayson Pfeiffer, OLB John Pius, ILB Jaheim Thomas, DL James Thompson Jr., K Nate Van Zelst, RB Tawee Walker, S Hunter Wohler and S Preston Zachman.

That group of seniors will be honored on Friday morning before the Badgers close their regular season against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

One noteworthy inclusion is CB Ricardo Hallman, a redshirt junior with eligibility remaining. The consensus is he will enter the 2025 NFL draft after the season concludes.

Other players listed who still have eligibility remaining are Max Lofy, James Thompson Jr., Preston Zachman and Cade McDonald. They each could have a chance to return for another season, either at Wisconsin or elsewhere.

Some notable players not listed are DL Ben Barten, OLB Leon Lowery, C Jake Renfro and QB Tyler Van Dyke. All four are seniors but have eligibility remaining. Their omission does not guarantee anything, but could point toward each returning to the program in 2025.

Neither running back Chez Mellusi nor safety Kamo’i Latu are listed. Both players have been listed as ‘out’ for the majority of the season to date. Mellusi left the program in early-October.

Wisconsin and Minnesota will kick off at noon ET, 11 a.m. CT on Friday after the Senior Day festivities have concluded. It will then be worth monitoring the decisions of those upperclassmen who still have eligibility remaining.

Wisconsin redshirt junior cornerback to be honored on Badgers’ senior day

Wisconsin redshirt junior cornerback to be honored on Badgers’ senior day

Wisconsin redshirt junior cornerback Ricardo Hallman will be honored during the Badgers’ senior day festivities before their contest against Minnesota on Friday.

Despite not being in his final season of collegiate eligibility, Hallman will join his fellow Badger upperclassmen in UW’s final home game of the 2024 season at Camp Randall.

Other notable seniors include safety Hunter Wohler, linebacker Jake Chaney, wide receiver Bryson Green, offensive lineman Jack Nelson and running back Tawee Walker.

The move suggests what many Badger analysts forecasted this spring — Hallman is trending toward inserting his name into the 2025 NFL draft pool.

Academically, the Miami, Florida native is a senior in college. Hallman enrolled at UW-Madison in June of 2021 and redshirted his freshman season after recorded one tackle in three games against Eastern Michigan, Rutgers and Arizona State.

The move paid off. After snagging his first career interception in 2022, Hallman shined during the 2023 slate. The 5-foot-10 playmaker started all 13 games for the Badgers and and was one of two players in the country to tally seven interceptions.

Most notably, he snagged a 95-yard pick-six vs. Rutgers on Oct. 7 and grabbed another interception against Ohio State in UW’s primetime game on Oct. 28. The season output earned Hallman a spot on the AP Third Team All-American team and the media’s All-Big Ten third team.

This season, Hallman has been relatively quiet. In 11 games, he has accumulated 14 total tackles, four pass deflections and a block.

Part of the reason for the subpar statistical output revolves around opposing offenses simply not throwing Hallman’s direction. Given his stellar 2023 performance, that strategy makes sense.

Still, some outlets consider Hallman a top 100 prospect for the 2025 NFL draft. Bleacher Report, for example, pegs Hallman as the No. 97 player in the upcoming draft class.

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel discusses the Vols’ senior day and Salute to Service game against UTEP.

No. 11 Tennessee (9-2, 5-2 SEC) held its annual senior day and Salute to Service game on Saturday. The Vols defeated UTEP (2-9, 2-5 C-USA), 56-0, at Neyland Stadium.

Saturday was also the Vols’ final regular-season home game.

Fourth-year head coach Josh Heupel recapped Tennessee’s senior day and Salute to Service game.

“Great day to honor our men and women that serve in our military,” Heupel said. “Awesome to recognize them. Had a couple of them walk with me, but so many of them on the field today. I thank them for everything they do.

“Awesome to recognize our senior class. These guys have meant so much to this program. When I first got here, kind of resetting this program, building this program, what it looks like to be a Vol and what it means to be in the building and have done an unbelievable job of helping us grow, and couldn’t have done it without them. Great leaders, great players, most of all great men, and it’s just a great group.”

Tennessee will conclude regular-season play at Vanderbilt in Week 14.

Notre Dame vs. Virginia: First-Quarter Analysis

Decent start for the Irish.

Notre Dame appeared to begin its Senior Day game against Virginia in exciting fashion. Former Irish running back-turned-receiver Chris Tyree muffed the opening kickoff, and the ball was scooped up by [autotag]Max Hurleman[/autotag], who ran it into the end zone. However, the ball could not be advanced because there was a muff instead of a fumble on the play.

The Irish instead had to start the game at the Cavaliers 25-yard line, but the setback proved to be temporary. The Cavaliers appeared to force a three-and-out, but a roughing the passer penalty gave the Irish a fresh set of downs from the 4. [autotag]Jeremiyah Love[/autotag] promptly scored, and the Irish had a 7-0 lead.

The first-quarter scoring halted after that though as both teams mainly had a bunch of three-and-outs with the Cavaliers turning the ball over on downs somewhere in between. At least some of that though can be attributed to the Irish’s dominant defense. They’ll need that to justify the College Football Playoff committee’s decision to include them in the rankings so far.

Notre Dame announces two more football games have been sold out

Going to either of these games?

Notre Dame is expected to have a big season, and fans want to get out to see the Irish. Naturally, fans want to see them at Notre Dame Stadium, and it’s becoming clear it doesn’t matter who the opponent is.

While sellouts are typical for Irish games, it always amazes that they happen even when it’s not the home opener or involving a high-profile opponent. The Irish have confirmed this fact by announcing they’ve sold out the game against Miami (Ohio) and their lone night home game against Florida State. This is on top of the sellout against Louisville they already announced, bringing their sellout total to three:

If you want to go to a home game this year but haven’t bought tickets, there’s no need to panic yet. There still are three games available: the home opener, senior day and the annual clash with Stanford. It’s not too late.

2023 Tennessee football senior day: Breakdown of who has remaining eligibility

2023 Tennessee football senior day: Breakdown of who has remaining eligibility

Tennessee football held its annual senior day on Saturday.

The Vols defeated Vanderbilt, 48-24, in a regular-season finale for both schools.

Prior to kickoff, 35 student-athletes for the Vols took part in a senior day ceremony.

“Senior day, we’re proud of this group,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said after the game. “A lot of them were here when I first got here and chose to stay here through some uncertainty. They bought into our vision of what the program can and would be about. It’s a phenomenal group.

“It’s a group that, over the last couple of years, won 13 games at home. Thirteen home games, which, over that span, is as good as it’s been since the late nineties. We’ve had some disappointment in the results along the way, but this group, this team, continues to fight and compete extremely hard and prepare the right way. I’m really proud of them. That happens because of the leadership from that senior group.”

12 Tennessee student-athletes who took part in senior day festivities have eligibility remaining.

Below are student-athletes with a Covid-19 year of eligibility remaining. Eligibility information is provided by the University of Tennessee.
