SNL cold open features Alec Baldwin and Dana Carvey returning for Donald Trump transition sketch

The comedy show takes on Donald Trump’s cabinet selections.

Once again, the cold open for Saturday Night Live tackled politics.

This time, it parodied Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) visiting Joe Biden (Dana Carvey) as the pair prepared to turn over the presidency. In the skit, Johnson’s Trump explained some of the controversial cabinet selections he has made to this point, with Matt Gaetz and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. making guest appearances.

Sarah Sherman made her debut as Gaetz, the pick for Attorney General, while comedian and long-time SNL guest Alec Baldwin played Trump’s pick for director of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Bill Burr roasted Shaquille O’Neal promoting stuff in SNL monologue

Bill Burr roasted Shaq.

Bill Burr’s monologue after the cold open of the latest Saturday Night Live did touch on the election, but he ventured into other subjects as stand-up comedians do.

And Shaquille O’Neal ended up being roasted.

Burr talked about waking up in the middle of the night recently and was greeted by Shaq promoting printer ink. He did a little O’Neal impression and then made jokes.

MORE SNL: Weekend Update made a Bronny James joke

“Dude, is there no end to that guy’s credibility?” Burr asked. “I thought when he was selling Buicks, that was the end of it. … It blows my mind, doesn’t he even have like a billion dollars at this point?

SNL Weekend Update somehow made a Bronny James joke about Donald Trump’s win

We promise, it makes actual sense.

Of course the Weekend Update segment on Saturday Night Live this week — hosted by Bill Burr — was going to deal with the 2024 presidential election, as the cold open did.

And wouldn’t you know it? There was a sports joke woven in about it.

Here’s what Michael Che said: “Clearly, I’ve been spending too much time with you white liberals and your goofy optimism. It wasn’t even close. At one point, [Donald] Trump was so far ahead, they put in Bronny [James].”

A clear reference to a blowout victory that would feature Bronny getting put in because the Los Angeles Lakers game would be out of reach.

SNL cold open about the election includes Dana Carvey as Elon Musk

This is how SNL dealt with the election.

How would Saturday Night Live deal with the recent presidential election results when they spend many a show mocking Donald Trump.

The answer is in the cold open from Saturday’s show hosted by Bill Burr (whose Buffalo Wild Wings ad was very funny): the cast stood in a set that looked like the Oval Office and talked about how criticizing Trump could mean retribution.

So that’s why the entire sketch was (jokingly, of course) about how they support him, featuring James Austin Johnson as Trump with a muscular body. There was also a Dana Carvey playing Elon Musk.

Bill Burr’s SNL Buffalo Wild Wings ad featured him as a very disgruntled Patriots fan

The Massachusetts native was perfection.

Comedian Bill Burr was back as the host of Saturday Night Live this weekend, and he perfectly leaned into his New England roots for a couple skits. A native of Canton, Massachusetts, Burr broke out his accent for a play on Good Will Hunting and then donned a Patriots jersey for a fake Buffalo Wild Wings ad.

In the skit, fans of the Lions, Chiefs and even Giants were elated to be at BWW having good food and cheap beer as they watched their teams win. Then there was Burr’s Pats fan, who repeatedly smashed his fist on the bar, stole beer from the tap and argued with his son.

It all culminates in a hilarious fist fight. Check out the full skit here:

SNL Weekend Update roasted the Yankees fans who grabbed Mookie Betts

The fans got rightfully roasted by SNL Weekend Update.

You kind of had to know this was coming.

Saturday Night Live — which featured the real Kamala Harris in the cold open — had it’s usual Weekend Update sketch with Colin Jost and Michael Che, and of course they roasted the New York Yankees fans who grabbed Mookie Betts and pried the ball out of the Los Angeles Dodgers star’s glove.

The joke started with Jost noting that Dodgers fans looted a Nike store after the win.

“That is just disgusting,” Jost remarked. “Yankees fans would never steal sporting goods, unless it was during the game.”

Guess what photo popped up on the screen? You nailed it.
