San Diego State vs Nevada Game Preview

Why San Diego State Will Win

The rested Aztecs should be able to run as much as they want to.

The ground game hasn’t been as effective or dominant as it needs to be over the last six quarters ever since QB Braxton Burmeister got knocked out.

Jalen Mayden – the hero in the win over Hawaii is starting, Burmeister might work at receiver, and the rushing attack should work against a Nevada defense that’s getting hammered.

Nevada’s offense is struggling, the run defense is among the worst in the Mountain West, and …

NFL Expert Picks, Week 7

Why Nevada Will Win

San Diego State’s offense doesn’t score without needing a whole lot of help.

It’s like the team forgot that they idea was to get the ball in the end zone. The Aztecs haven’t scored more than 17 points in any of the last four games, the passing game still needs to prove it can be consistent even with the changes, and now it’s up to Nevada to take advantage of it.

A few points should get it done. Nevada has to try getting the ground game going against an SDSU D that was hammered by Boise State and Hawaii.

What’s Going To Happen

Nevada has had to travel way too much. It had the emotional loss to Colorado State, went to Hawaii and lost, and now is back in Reno.

San Diego State had two weeks off, the offense should build on the positives against Hawaii, and the two attacks that struggle so much will make this interesting into the fourth quarter. The fresher team will have a little more.

San Diego State vs Nevada Game Preview

Why Nevada Will Win

Can the passing game do enough to get San Diego State out of its warm, cozy comfort zone?

This isn’t an Aztec team that can bomb away or get into any semblance of a shootout, but it’s got a killer defense that suffocates just about every style and every team except … Fresno State.

Utah wasn’t the Utah it is now when the Aztecs got the shocking win back in mid-September, and that’s been it when it comes to teams that can throw. Fresno State has the only offense with a high-powered passing game, and Jake Haener and company pulled off the 30-20 win with 247 passing yards.

Here comes Carson Strong and a Nevada offense that bombs away for over 300 yards before breakfast.

But …

College Football Expert Picks, CFN Week 11

Why San Diego State Will Win

Yeah, Nevada has the defensive front that should be able to hold up against the run, but it hasn’t faced a whole lot of teams that give it a try. And why? It’s because games tend to get out of hand in a hurry against the Wolf Pack and start throwing to keep up.

Kansas State was able to run 48 times against Nevada, and that was enough to control the game in a win. Boise State was stuffed on its 34 carries, but Fresno State ran 30 times for 205 yards and two scores in a win.

No other FBS team attempted 30 carries against Nevada, and both losses came when allowing over 200 yards.

San Diego State averages close to 40 carries per game and average 193 yards per outing, but …

NFL Expert Picks: CFN Week 10

What’s Going To Happen

The winner still has work to do, but it’s going to be in the driver’s seat for the West Division title. Considering both teams lost to Fresno State – who’s one game behind both – the loser might be all but out with two conference games left.

In general, Nevada is too good against the run to get hammered on by the San Diego State attack.

Yeah, the Aztecs were great on the ground with five straight 200 rushing yards to start the season, but they haven’t come up with more than 165 yards in the last four games.

Nevada will get its passing game going just enough to make San Diego State start throwing a bit. That’s not going to be a plus.

Why Nevada Will Win

Nevada can bring the firepower.

It’s great at moving the ball around, it’s fantastic on the free throw line, and it’s been able to put up points in bunches when it gets on a roll, scoring 85 against Colorado State in the regular season finale and hitting Boise State for 89 in the Mountain West Tournament quarterfinals.

San Diego State’s defense isn’t going to allow the Wolf Pack to get on the run and put up 51 points like they did against the Broncos, but they were able to stay in close games – both losses in the 60s – even when the threes weren’t dropping.

Go from hitting 35% from the outside against the Aztecs to 40%, and this becomes interesting.

Why San Diego State Will Win

The Aztecs dealt with the fantastic Wyoming offense and held it down in a 69-66 win on Thursday night. That same Cowboy team rolled through Nevada putting up 164 points in the two games.

San Diego State is brilliant at grinding things down, and it’s not just by stalling. Wyoming was able to hit 48% from three, but Dan Diego State was still Abel to get by on the inside, the fee throw line, and by not turning the ball over.

It might not always be pretty, but the Aztecs have won 12 straight by keeping just about everyone from playing their styles.

What’s Going To Happen

The Wyoming game was more of a right than it should’ve been, but San Diego State showed once again how good and how comfortable it seems to be when games get tight.

The Aztecs are build to make key stops and come through in the clutch – especially on the free throw line. It’ll be a third straight game between these two plays in the 60s.

San Diego State (3-1) vs Nevada (4-0) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why San Diego State Will Win

The Aztecs got back on track.

They dominated bad UNLV and Utah State teams, came up with a strange performance in a loss to San Jose State when they couldn’t quite come up with any big plays or stops at the right time – and made a slew of mistakes – and then were more like themselves with a 34-10 blowout against Hawaii.

New head coach Brady Hoke has the running game humming, the defense is a killer on third downs, the secondary is suffocating, and what should make one of the biggest differences against the Wolf Pack, they’ll own the tempo and the clock.

Nevada is good at winning the time of possession battle, but San Diego State makes you play its game. But …

CFN Experts Picks, Predictions: Week 12

Why Nevada Will Win

The San Diego State offensive line is allowing way too many plays behind the line. It’s been great for the ground game, but it gives up negative things in the backfield against teams that don’t trust the inefficient Aztec passing attack.

It’s San Diego State, so it’ll always be great defensively, but it gave up over 200 yards in the win over Hawaii and it allowed two scores in the loss to San Jose State. The secondary is about to get pressed hard by Carson Strong and a Nevada passing game that’s ripping through anyone.

Strong has thrown for 336 yards or more in each of the four games, he’s hitting the deep plays, and he’s not making mistakes with just one interception to go along with 12 touchdown passes. Romeo Doubs and TE Cole Turner are terrific, they’re going to stretch the field, and …

CFN Experts Picks: NFL

What’s Going To Happen

San Diego State is going to show up big.

This is a great Nevada team with a fun offense, but SDSU controls the lines, its running game is going to take over, and the defense will raise its game up a whole other level.

It’s the CBS afternoon game that’s being fit in the normal SEC time slot. Both teams will play up to the attention.
