Florida improves its chances with 5-star this ATH after impressive visit

Florida made a strong impression on IMG Academy’s five-star athlete Samuel M’Pemba during his visit this weekend.

IMG Academy, a high school football factory, in nearby Bradenton, Florida, sent a host of its players to the Swamp to visit the Gators this weekend. The Ascenders constantly produce some of the best recruits in the country and aren’t any different this season with talented five and four stars like Francis Mauigoa, Samuel M’Pemba, Carnell Tate, Jordan Hall and Will Norman.

Talented athlete M’Pemba was one IMG player to visit Florida on Saturday. After his visit, he spoke with Swamp247 and said the Gators helped their chances this weekend. He said the visit with coach Billy Napier and his staff went well and that he likes the new leadership in charge of the Florida program. M’Pemba noticed a difference between the old staff and the new one quickly.

“Really just who they are,” he said of their differences. “The old staff, I wouldn’t say they were bad, but it just didn’t feel the same. I feel like the vibe now is more personal. They are all about relationships and it feels like a family atmosphere.”

Linebackers coach and alumni liaison Mike Peterson and off-the-field analyst Jamar Chaney have been the main contacts for M’Pemba on Florida’s staff. He said he has a special bond with Chaney because of his relationship dating back to when he was at Mississippi State.

M’Pemba has started to generate a list of his top schools in his head and confirmed that Florida will be on it once he decided to release it.

In the next month or so, he plans to Michigan, Notre Dame and Missouri. He mentioned that he could visit the Swamp again this spring but doesn’t have an exact date set. He also said he is in no rush to make a decision anytime soon.

Gators to receive visits from trio of talented IMG Academy prospects

Billy Napier continues to push for players from IMG Academy.

Florida coach Billy Napier didn’t have a lot of time to close out his transitional class, but he managed to make a big splash on early signing day when he earned a commitment from blue-chip safety Kamari Wilson, who plays at IMG Academy.

IMG is a breadbasket of talented players right in UF’s backyard in Bradenton, but so far, the school has struggled to make inroads. Napier is looking to change that, and he’s off to a good start in the 2023 class.

Three talented prospects from IMG Academy — all of them blue chips, two of them five-stars — are planning to visit campus on March 5, according to a report from All Gators. Here’s a brief rundown of all three.

Report: Florida targeting 2023 five-star athlete from IMG Academy

Billy Napier has his eyes on another five-star from IMG Academy for the class of 2023.

Recruiting never stops in college football, and Billy Napier is already working on the class of 2023. Five-star athlete Samuel M’Pemba has Florida on his list of schools to visit during the spring, according to Gators Online.

M’Pemba decided to back off his plan of committing in the fall after seeing all of the coaching changes taking place around the country. Alabama and Notre Dame sat at the top of his recruitment at the time, but now he’s opening things up to see how his visits play out.

Napier ended a decade-long drought for Florida by signing IMG Academy five-star safety Kamari Wilson during the 2022 early signing period. He’s since said that he’d like to keep bringing in players from IMG and M’Pemba is the next step to establishing the pipeline Gator Nation has always dreamed of.

The plan is to get M’Pemba in Gainesville for a visit next month. He’s eager to get some in-person time with the coaches at many schools and has noted that Florida’s new staff has some good chemistry going.

“I have been talking with Florida about visiting there that first weekend in March,” M’Pemba said to On3’s Chad Simmons. “Then we have spring break starting March 12, so I want to visit as many schools as I can that week.

“Nothing is scheduled yet, but ArkansasOregonOhio State and Alabama are some of the schools I am looking at. I am going to work on setting visits up for that week.”

Florida hosted M’Pemba for the Alabama game last season, but that was under Dan Mullen’s staff. Defensive analyst Jamar Chaney is his main contact on this staff, and he’s mentioned talking to outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson as well. Despite playing both sides of the ball in high school, it looks like Florida wants him on defense based on his recruiters.

The competition will be fierce for M’Pemba as he is ranked No. 11 overall on the On3 Consensus and No. 14 overall on the 247Composite. Both services have him listed as the top athlete in the country.

Napier got Florida on the table with several of the nation’s top undecided recruits on national signing day. Most of them chose other programs, but Florida’s new coach proved that he could at least get the Gators in the conversation with minimal time to do it.

M’Pemba is looking at a December decision, but that could change in the future. That gives Napier nearly a year to work on him and earn a commitment.

A comprehensive look at some of Oklahoma Football’s recent offers

Oklahoma has been busy on the recruiting trail. Here’s a look at some of the recent offers OU has sent out to 2023 and 2024 prospects.

National Signing Day is swiftly approaching on Feb. 2 and that means the 2022 class is just about finished.

With that date within shouting distance, it’s time for Oklahoma to turn its collective attention to the 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes.

OU has been busy sending out offers and looking to establish momentum in both of their upcoming classes. Here’s a look at some of the names the Sooners have offered recently.

Jamar Cain, LSU offer the No. 1 athlete in the country

The nation’s top athlete picks up offer from LSU.

Jamar Cain and the LSU coaching staff are on the hunt for the next great Tigers pass rushing. They recently offered the No. 1 athlete in the country who projects best as an edge rusher.

Samuel M’Pemba told On3, that he already had a relationship with Cain. That will come in handy for the Tigers who are looking to jump in the race for one of the top 10 players in the country. Back in September, M’Pemba listed the LSU Tigers among his top 12 schools but only recently picked up an offer from the staff.

“I’m blessed (to get one) from the new staff, new team,” M’Pemba told On3Sports. “I have a great relationship with him since he’s been at Oklahoma. Great coach, better person. We’ve built a relationship for a while and he’s been recruiting me for a while.” via The Bengal Tiger (On3)

Michigan State Football offers 2023 4-star ATH Samuel M’Pemba

Michigan State has offered a top-25 player in the 2023 class.

Michigan State Football is already in a few recruiting battles with powerhouse Alabama, and now they will enter another as they go after Samuel M’Pemba, a 4-star athlete out of Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St. Louis, Missouri. The Spartans offered M’Pemba on Friday.

M’Pemba is a top-25 2023 recruit and the No. 2 ranked player in Missouri by 247Sports. As you would expect, he has over 20 offers, but it seems like Alabama has the lead here, so the Spartans will need to turn up the gas if they want to land his services.
