Nate Oats provides injury update on Alabama guard Rylan Griffen

Alabama sophomore guard Rylan Griffen suffers calf injury against the Gators

Alabama dropped a road game on Tuesday night at the hands of the Florida Gators, 105-87. To add to the Crimson Tide’s woes, guard Rylan Griffen suffered an injury late in the contest when going after a loose ball.

Griffen appeared to have possession of the ball while in midair until two Florida players collided with him, forcing the ball out of bounds. Not only was Griffen injured on the play, but the officials ruled no foul and that the ball was out of bounds on Alabama.

Following the loss, head coach [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] would provide an injury update on the sophomore guard from Texas.

“He’s got a calf injury that we’re getting an MRI on in the morning. I’m not sure if it’s a bruise, strain, something.”

With fellow guard Latrell Wrightsell Jr. slowly working his way back into the lineup, Alabama can’t afford for Griffen to miss an extended period of time.

Griffen is averaging 11.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists this season for the Crimson Tide.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitor Griffen’s injury and will provide updates as they become available.

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN: Alabama basketball stat leaders from 93-75 win over Missouri

A look at Alabama’s stat leaders from its 93-75 win over Missouri

On Tuesday night from inside Coleman Coliseum, [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team took down the Missouri Tigers 93-75 to extend its winning streak to six games.

The SEC matchup was back and forth for a large portion of the contest before the Crimson Tide pulled away in the final 10 minutes of the contest.

Alabama’s leading scorer for the season Mark Sears suffered an ankle injury early in the contest and struggled to find any rythmn offensively. Sophomore guard Rylan Griffen and senior Aaron Estrada would help pick up the slack finishing with 21 points each.

With the win, Alabama is now 12-5 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in SEC play.

Here is a look at the Tide’s stat leaders from the impressive home victory over Missouri.

Alabama smashes Missouri 93-75 to run out to 4-0 start in SEC play

There is no question that Alabama head coach [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] is one of the best basketball coaches in the country, but there were legitimate concerns surrounding this year’s squad. Not only did the Crimson Tide lose two players to the first round of the 2023 NBA draft, but they also lost a handful of players to the portal. Oh, and he also lost all three of his assistant coaches from a season ago to head coaching positions. Despite all of the changes, the Tide are cooking and back in the thick of March Madness discussions.

Oats has always prioritized playing the toughest out-of-conference schedule possible, so it was a bit bumpy out of the gates. However, the team is beginning to find their groove as they smoked the Missouri Tigers 93-75 in Coleman Coliseum. Recently hired head football coach Kalen DeBoer made a guest appearance as well that blew the roof off. The Tide’s win over the Tigers marked six straight wins including the past four all coming in conference play. [autotag]Aaron Estrada[/autotag] and [autotag]Rylan Griffen[/autotag] led the way with 21 points each and Grant Nelson poured in 13 as well.

The schedule gets even tougher as the Tide travel to Knoxville on Saturday to take on No. 6 Tennessee. Then four days later, Alabama will host Bruce Pearl and his Auburn Tigers.
