Alabama commit 2025 wide receiver Ryan Williams was recently announced as the recipient of Alabama’s 2022 Gatorade Player of the Year. The last Alabama player to win the award was safety Kristian Story who won the award in 2019.

Williams had a stellar sophomore season at Saraland High School. He helped lead his team to win a state title this season against Mountain Brook. As a sophomore, he hauled in 88 receptions for 1,641 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns. Along with that, he also had 57 carries for 700 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Williams’ high school career as well as Alabama football recruiting.

Alabama lands commitment from 2025 WR and Auburn legacy Ryan Williams

On Saturday, the Crimson Tide landed an in-game commitment from 2025 WR Ryan Williams. He is the Crimson Tide’s first commitment for the 2025 recruiting class.

It isn’t often that you see a former Auburn player’s son committing to in-state rival, Alabama. However, that was the case this past weekend. During the Crimson Tide’s matchup with Texas A&M, 2025 wide receiver Ryan Williams announced his commitment to Alabama via Twitter.

Williams’ father, Ryan Williams Sr., played defensive back at Auburn. That didn’t seem to be much of a factor in making his decision. When asked about why he chose Alabama, here is what Williams told 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong:

β€œWell when I was sitting in Coach (Nick) Saban’s office, you try not to smile in his face and keep all the emotions inside, try to be as humble as possible. But I was blessin’ on the inside,” he said. β€œHe complimented me but also told me I need to get bigger by the time I get there. It’s really great. Everybody buys in. You feel like they want you. Everybody talks to you, everybody knows who you are as soon as you walk into the building.”

From the sound of it, Williams sounds rather excited to become a part of Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class.

Now, Roll Tide Wire will take a look at Ryan Williams’ recruiting profile.

Auburn legacy and elite WR recruit commits to Alabama

Four-star wide receiver Ryan Williams will not be following in his dad’s path to Auburn.

Some days the hits just keep coming.

On a day when Auburn was crushed by Georgia, Alabama beat Texas A&M and landed a commitment from elite 4-star wide receiver [autotag]Ryan Williams[/autotag] who is an Auburn legacy.

Despite his father playing at Auburn and him growing up an Auburn fan, Williams told On3’s Chad Simmons that Alabama showed him the “most love” and that they “made it easy” for him to make his decison.

β€œI felt at home, my family felt at home and Alabama has shown they care about me on and off the field,” he said.

The 6-foot, 155-pounder broke out as a freshman, catching 27 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns. He has been even better as a sophomore, he Tweeted that he has 850 all-purpose yards and 16 touchdowns in his first five games.

The Saraland, Alabama native is ranked as the No. 25 overall player and No. 6 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite ranking for the 2025 recruiting class. He is also the No. 4 player in the state of Alabama.

With Auburn’s passing game sorely lacking playmakers, he is exactly the type of player who can come in a become an immediate impact player. However, he is headed to their biggest rival.
