Rutgers football recruiting: Brady Bekkenhuis is offered on Tuesday

Rutgers football sent out an offer on Tuesday night, this time to an offensive lineman from New England.

An offer went out from Rutgers football on Tuesday night to Brady Bekkenhuis. The Massachusetts offensive lineman is part of the class of 2026.

Rutgers is now his second reported Power Five offer, joining Boston College.

A 6-foot-6, 295-pound offensive lineman from Arlington (Arlington, Massachusetts), Bekkenhuis is projected to become a national recruit.

Physically, Bekkenhuis already has the look and cut of a Power Five prospect. He has long arms and is aggressive in making contact with defenders.

At the high school level, he can physically overpower most edge rushers. Bekkenhuis plays either offensive tackle position.

He posted the offer on Tuesday and tagged Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano as well as assistant Charlie Noonan.

Arlington finished last season 5-6.

Rutgers is increasingly recruiting New England. This week, offensive lineman Hardy Watts told Rutgers Wire that he plans on visiting the school in April.

One of the top offensive linemen in the nation in the 2025 class, Watts is the top-ranked recruit in Massachusetts.

Rutgers football will host a spring visit from Hardy Watts in April.

Hardy Watts, one of the top offensive tackles in the nation, is planning a visit to Rutgers football next month.

At 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds, Watts has some good physical projections to play offensive tackle at the Power Five level. Offered in the past week by Clemson, Watts is planning an unofficial visit to Rutgers on April 20.
“I think they are a great program with a bright future. The coaching staff are great people,” Watts told RutgersWire this week.
One of the selling points for Rutgers when it comes to offensive line recruits is Pat Flaherty.
[lawrence-related id=36855,36832]
In his second year at Rutgers, Flaherty transformed the line last season. The improved play of the line was significant in keying Rutgers to a 7-6 season and a bowl win over Miami.
Flaherty has over two decades of experience coaching offensive lines in the NFL. During that time, he won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants.
“We have a good relationship. Coach Flaherty and I talk often as well as the recruiting staff,” Watts said.
“He is obviously a seasoned vet (who) knows what he’s doing. That’s very important in terms of developing players.”
Watts has a strong offer list that includes Boston College, Duke, Miami, Michigan and South Carolina among others.
[lawrence-related id=36830,36820]
“No one school sticks out right now, they’re all communicating about the same,” Watts said.
“(I want) A place that’s going to develop me into the best possible person, student and player.”

Ian Williams breaks down his recent Rutgers football offer: ‘It was awesome talking to coach Schiano’

Rutgers football recruit Ian Williams talks about his recent offer from the Big Ten program.

This week, Rutgers football offered Georgia athlete Ian Williams. The defensive back is a quick-twitch athlete and a playmaker in the secondary.

He was offered this week during a call with Rutgers football head coach Greg Schiano, safeties coach Drew Lascari and running backs coach Damiere Shaw.

Williams has pulled in recent offers from East Carolina, James Madison and South Florida over the past month. He is still flying very much under the radar despite his unquestioned athleticism.

He is an explosive athlete. At 6-foot and 185 pounds, Williams moves well across the open field. Instinctual and fluid in his movement, he breaks to the ball very well.

He is a class of 2025 recruit from Cass High School (Marietta, Georgia).

As a junior, Williams had 73 total tackles with four interceptions and 14 passes defended. He runs a 4.48 time in the 40.

“It was awesome talking to coach Schiano, coach Drew and coach Shaw,” Williams told Rutgers Wire this week.

“Learning how they’re building this program from the ground up once again.

“My main goal to surpass Ed Reed so talking to the guy that basically fixed his mindset was amazing to me. Also, to learn more about the Rutgers football facility and development was a big thing for me. And I believe they have the best that I’ve seen so far.”

Currently, he is unranked by all four recruiting services.

[lawrence-related id=36647,36604]

In terms of fit, Williams believes that the Rutgers defensive scheme works well for him and with his skill set.

On film, Williams is a player who reads and reacts very well. His athleticism allows him to cover ground but it is his grasp and reading of the game that really pops up when watching him play.

[lawrence-related id=36599,36553]

The Rutgers defense, he said, is a good fit for how he plays.

“Yes, I do – I believe their system fits me and how I play,” Williams said.

“Also, I want to go to a school that’s built on family so it’s dope that they share that.”

Williams has a list of unofficial visits all set up for this spring:

  • East Carolina (March 23)
  • Cincinnatti (April 2)
  • Pittsburgh (April 4)
  • South Florida (April 6)
