Tennessee baseball run-rules Ole Miss in series opener.

No. 7 Tennessee (20-3, 2-2 SEC) defeated Ole Miss (16-7, 2-2), 15-3 in seven innings, on Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Christian Moore went 2-for-4 and recorded two home runs, two RBIs and two runs, while Kavares Tears went 3-for-3 for the Vols. Tears recorded one home run, one double, two RBIs and four runs.

Designated hitter Robin Villeneuve went 3-for-4 and recorded one home run, four RBIs and three runs, while Dean Curley went 1-for-4 and totaled one home run, three RBIs and one run in Tennessee’s win.

AJ Causey (5-0) pitched 5.2 innings. He allowed three runs (two earned runs), five hits and two walks, while recording six strikeouts.

No. 12 Alabama (16-3, 1-1 SEC) defeated No. 6 Tennessee (18-2, 1-1 SEC), 6-3, Saturday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Alabama tied the series and ended the Vols’ 17-game win streak.

Tennessee left the bases loaded in the first inning and stranded nine runners on base in the contest.

Christian Moore went 4-for-5 and hit one home run and one double, while Robin Villeneuve went 1-for-4 and hit one home run for the Vols.

Blake Burke went 2-for-5 and recorded one double.

Drew Beam pitched a complete game for the Vols. He pitched eight innings and allowed six runs (five earned), eight hits and two walks, while recording six strikeouts.

Robin Villeneuve commits to Tennessee baseball.

Robin Villeneuve announced his commitment to Tennessee baseball on Monday.

“I am happy to announce that I will continue my academic and athletic journey at the University of Tennessee,” Villeneuve said. “Thank you coach (Tony) Vitello for the vote of confidence. I would also like to thank my family, my coaches, my friends and my teammates for the support.”

Villeneuve appeared in 63 games as a first baseman and left-handed pitcher at Weatherford College in 2023. He recorded 28 home runs, 102 RBIs, 74 runs, 87 hits, 24 doubles, 38 walks and three stolen bases in 2023.

Weatherford competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association.
