Tennessee junior pitcher AJ Causey earned his seventh win of the season on Thursday.

The Vols (35-7, 13-6 SEC) defeated Missouri (19-24, 6-13 SEC), 10-1, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Tennessee will look to secure its sixth straight Southeastern Conference series win with a victory in game two against Missouri on Friday.

Causey (7-3) pitched six innings in relief for Tennessee, recording six strikeouts against Missouri. He totaled 90 pitches, including 61 strikes, against 24 batters.

Causey also allowed six hits, one earned run and two walks.

No. 3 Tennessee (35-7, 13-6 SEC) defeated Missouri (19-24, 6-13 SEC), 10-1, Thursday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Tennessee hit six home runs against Missouri, marking the fifth time the Vols have hit five home runs in a game this season.

Billy Amick went 3-for-5. He hit a solo home run and a three-run home run. He recorded four RBIs and two runs, while Christian Moore went 3-for-4. Moore hit a solo home run to lead off the first inning for Tennessee. He recorded two runs and one RBI.

Hunter Ensley went 1-fot-3 and hit a solo home runs for the Vols. Cal Stark also went 1-for-3. Stark hit a three-run home run, while Cannon Peebles hit a pinch-hit solo home run in the eighth inning, his first of the season.

AJ Causey (7-3) pitched six innings in relief for the Vols. He allowed one run, six hits and two walks, while recording six strikeouts.

Chris Stamos started and pitched 2.2 innings and allowed three hits. He recorded three strikeouts.

Matthew Dallas recorded the final out of the game, totaling two pitches.

Auburn baseball wins series opener against Tennessee.

Auburn (18-11, 2-8 SEC) defeated Tennessee (24-6, 5-5 SEC), 9-5, on Friday at Plainsman Park in Auburn, Alabama.

Christian Moore started at second base for the Vols and went 2-for-5. He recorded a two-run home run, one double, two runs and two RBIs.

Kavares Tears also hit a two-run home run for Tennessee. He went 2-for-3 and totaled two RBIs and one run.

Tennessee first baseman Blake Burke went 3-for-4 and extended his hit streak to 20 games. He recorded one double, one run and one RBI.

AJ Causey (5-2) started for the Vols and took the loss and pitched 1.1 innings. He allowed eight hits and eight earned runs, while recording four strikeouts.

Christian Moore went 2-for-4 and recorded two home runs, two RBIs and two runs, while Kavares Tears went 3-for-3 for the Vols. Tears recorded one home run, one double, two RBIs and four runs.

Designated hitter Robin Villeneuve went 3-for-4 and recorded one home run, four RBIs and three runs, while Dean Curley went 1-for-4 and totaled one home run, three RBIs and one run in Tennessee’s win.

AJ Causey (5-0) pitched 5.2 innings. He allowed three runs (two earned runs), five hits and two walks, while recording six strikeouts.

No. 6 Tennessee (18-1, 1-0 SEC) defeated No. 12 Alabama (15-3, 0-1 SEC), 11-3, Friday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to open SEC play.

Friday’s win is Tennessee’s 17th consecutive.

Blake Burke went 3-for-5, recording one home run, three runs and two RBIs for Tennessee. Dylan Dreiling went 2-for-4 and totaled one home run, one triple, two runs and two RBIs for the Vols.

Billy Amick went 2-for-3 and scored two runs, while Kavares Tears went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBIs for Tennessee.

Tennessee recorded 12 hits in the contest.

Tennessee junior pitcher AJ Causey earned Southeastern Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week honors on Monday.

Causey made his Tennessee debut on opening day Friday. He pitched 4.2 scoreless innings in relief against Texas Tech, recording seven strikeouts and zero walks.

Causey retired 11 of 12 Texas Tech batters he faced during the final four innings.

He  transferred to the Vols from Jacksonville State following the 2023 season.

Causey (9-6) appeared in 40 games, including 15 starts, at Jacksonville State from 2022-23. He recorded nine saves, one complete game, 147 strikeouts, a 4.11 ERA in 124.2 innings pitched with the Gamecocks.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound pitcher is from Sparkman High School in Harvest, Alabama.

AJ Russell started for the Vols and pitched 4.1 innings, allowing two earned runs, three hits and one walk. He totaled 10 strikeouts.

Jacksonville State pitcher AJ Causey announced he will transfer to Tennessee.

“I want to thank the Lord for the opportunity and memories I’ve made over the past two years at JSU,” Causey announced. “I’m grateful for my teammates and friends along with the coaches that helped me along the way. I am very excited and incredibly grateful to announce that I am transferring to the University of Tennessee!”
