15 photos of Rihanna’s gravity-defying Super Bowl 57 halftime show

What a show from Rihanna.

Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime performance stole the show on Sunday amidst a highly-contested match between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.

Despite being a guest-less performance, Rihanna dominated the show with some fan favorites such as “Work”, “Where Have You Been”, “Umbrella”, and “Diamonds”. All the while, Rihanna performed on some hilariously meme-able floating platforms that make for some really incredible visuals to cap off the night.

Now that the dust has settled on Rihanna’s awesome Super Bowl halftime performance, let’s take a look back at some of the truly stunning visuals. Here are the 15 best photos of Rihanna’s gravity-defying Super Bowl 57 halftime show.

4 prop bets that hit during Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show

Betting on Rihanna!

Rihanna had her much-anticipated Super Bowl 57 performance on Sunday during halftime of Chiefs-Eagles. The nine-time Grammy Award winner showcased a lot of her discography as she gave fans quite the show.

While the exhibition was phenomenal and something even casual viewers will likely remember for years to come, bettors also tuned in to the halftime show to see if what Rihanna had in store matched what they’d bet on in the lead-up.

From outfit color all the way down to the total number of songs she’d perform, there were many props to bet on. Here’s how it all played out.

To begin the show, Rihanna gave us “B*tch Betta Have My Money.” Did you bet on it being her first song of the night? If so, congratulations on cashing in on those 8:1 odds. Congrats again, if on top of that, you guessed correctly that she’d close the show with “Diamonds” — another 8:1 payout.

“Diamonds” was the eighth and final song of the evening, which gave under 9.5 songs bettors (-125) a pretty easy win.

But betting on RiRi and the Super Bowl wasn’t only about the music. Of course not. She gave us a spectacular red outfit which, you guessed it, had 8:1 odds.

Shout out to all of you who lucked up with any of these bets and came away from this game a little bit wealthier. And shout out to Rihanna for a fantastic show.

Rihanna’s Super Bowl backup dancers looked like puffed marshmallows and NFL fans turned it into a meme

They got roasted.

Fans couldn’t wait for Rihanna’s long-awaited return to a stage, which came at halftime of Super Bowl 57. And for the most part, it lived up to what people were hoping to see.

She performed a lot of her biggest hits, coming out on platforms that reminded people of Super Smash Bros., and it turned out to be a good show even without a guest appearance.

But it’s not a perfect Super Bowl halftime until somebody becomes a meme, and unfortunately for Rihanna’s poor background dancers, they were an easy target thanks to these puffed-up windbreakers they were wearing as they ran onto the field.

NFL fans had a ball.

Rihanna rocked the Super Bowl halftime show with no guests, and fans loved it

No Jay-Z? No Drake? No problem. We got Rhianna.

Rihanna’s Super Bowl 57 halftime show was ridiculously awesome.

She started on platform high above the field — in a scene that sort of resembled a Super Smash Bros. map — rapping and singing along to “[Expletive] Better Have My Money” as she descended down into the stadium. For our money, the show was pretty great.

And when you have a performer like Rihanna — who took the stage live for the first time in seven years — who needs guest features?

Usually — like Dr. Dre last year — the Super Bowl halftime show performer comes along with a few guests.

But this year? Rihanna did it all on her own, save for a backup band and what seemed like a few hundred dancers.

There was no Drake, no Jay-Z, no Young Jeezy and no Kanye West on stage in Arizona, despite Rihanna performing songs that had those rappers featured in them on the original tracks.

And fans were just fine with that. Rihanna owned the stage and delivered.

A$AP Rocky looked so proud filming Rihanna’s incredible Super Bowl halftime show

Look how excited A$AP Rocky was for Rihanna!

Rapper A$AP Rocky went from musician to proud boyfriend during the Super Bowl 57 halftime show.

As pop icon Rihanna took the stage for a stupendous performance, A$AP Rocky looked on from the sidelines and cheered on his partner.

Hey, if your partner was performing in one of the biggest cultural moments of the year, you’d be pretty darn hyped, too. Good for A$AP Rocky for being so supportive during what’s certainly a huge night for the couple.

Now, if we could only get a shot of A$AP Rocky getting hyped for a new Rihanna album, we’d all really be thriving. We’ll just enjoy these Smash Bros. memes for now.

Super Bowl halftime show review: Rihanna shined bright during a delightful no-guest performance

Rihanna was effortlessly cool during the Apple Music Halftime Show.

Rihanna was effortlessly cool during the Apple Music Halftime Show during Super Bowl 57 on Sunday.

She was tasked with following the excellent show from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem last season, which was no easy assignment.

There was quite a bit of anticipation leading up to the show from Rihanna, who hasn’t released a studio album since Anti in January 2016. It was her first performance since she joined DJ Khaled on stage at the Grammy Awards in 2018.

But she didn’t look like she missed a beat at all on (and floating above) the biggest stage in sports. As fireworks exploded behind her, Rihanna was able to captivate an audience at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona and those watching the game around the world.

Not only did she do a wonderful job with her song choices, but she managed to even sneak in a plug for her popular fashion brand Fenty while also fixing her makeup on stage.

Rihanna didn’t bring out any guests, which was maybe the biggest surprise of the night. While rocking an all-red outfit, Rihanna had an excellent medley of hit after hit.

Whether it was with her original music or her strong resumé of features, this was also an impressive reminder of how much Rihanna has accomplished in her musical career.

This might not go down as an all-time memorable halftime show and we likely didn’t get any particularly timeless memes that will be shared on our Twitter timelines.

But overall, it was a great break between the halves of an exciting game between the Chiefs and the Eagles.

Rihanna’s Super Bowl floating platforms became an instant Smash Bros meme

Rihanna for Smash confirmed?

Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime performance was one for the history books, that’s for sure.

In the midst of a tightly contested Super Bowl 57 between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, Rihanna put on a phenominal halftime show featuring her absolutely legendary discography. Among the hits Rihanna dished out, her performance also featured some really cool floating platforms that made for some awe-inspiring visuals.

Hilariously enough, those platforms — while awesome looking — reminded fans watching of a familiar video game. The popular fighting game Super Smash Bros. to be specific. While the platforms were featured throughout much of Rihanna’s set, the opening specifically is what had fans drawing the comparisons.

Yeah, I can absolutely see it! Football fans could not help but meme the moment about Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime Smash Bros floating platforms.

Who is Rihanna’s boyfriend?

In case you haven’t heard by now.

Rihanna is making her long-awaited return to a stage Sunday for the halftime show of Super Bowl 57.

She hasn’t had a public performance since the 2018 Grammys, so it’s a big deal. Part of the reason the Umbrella singer hasn’t hit a stage in so long is she recently became a mom.

So, naturally, that may lead you to wonder who her lucky boyfriend must be. Well, it’s none other than rapper ASAP Rocky, of the ASAP Mob collective.

Rihanna and Rocky started dating in 2020, and she gave birth to their baby boy last May.

Less than a year later, the Anti singer is back and ready to give her fans a show.
