The Kansas City Chiefs are focused on making another trip to the Super Bowl after coming up short last season. The pageantry and history of the big game have made it a tradition for everyone around the country to tune in for the battle of the NFL’s best.

A special part of the game is the halftime show, which features iconic names in music from every genre to celebrate football’s annual tradition. The Super Bowl performer for next February’s contest is an international icon, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Rihanna was announced as the halftime performer this past Sunday in collaboration with Roc Nation and Apple Music for Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, February 12, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona.

Speaking to Carrington Harrison on 610 Sports Radio show “The Drive” for his weekly check-in, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes shared his thoughts on Rihanna being announced as the Super Bowl halftime performer.

“Rihanna has a lot of bangers,” said Mahomes. “Brittany (Mahomes) was pretty hyped about (her performing at the Super Bowl Halftime show). She’s a legend as well. Hopefully, we can be in the game and record it and watch it afterward. I have not met Rihanna – she’s one of the greatest to do it.”

Mahomes’ two Super Bowl appearances featured halftime performances from Shakira and Jennifer Lopez in Miami and The Weeknd in Tampa Bay.

Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend was also intrigued by the Rihanna announcement. He tweeted his thoughts on her handling of the football in her promotional photo that was shared during the announcement.

“Textbook punt “handshake” grip by @rihanna,” Townsend wrote. “I’d like to see a little more space between the ball and palm and nose turned slightly in but looks solid. Bombs away, babe.”

The Chiefs would prefer to have the music of Rihanna entertaining thousands of fans while they are in the locker room rather than sitting at home watching the game. There’s still a long way to go in the regular season before thinking about appearing in Super Bowl LVI. Next up, the Chiefs will get a chance to face the Buccaneers, who defeated them in their last Super Bowl appearance.

Rihanna will perform at the Super Bowl 57 halftime show and fans are pumped

Rihanna is back!!!

For the first time in her career, Rihanna will perform at a Super Bowl halftime show!

Just days after the rumor mill was abuzz about Taylor Swift possibly headlining the Super Bowl 57 halftime show, football fans were treated to a surprise announcement from Rihanna herself on Sunday. The simple — but elegant — announcement showcases Rihanna’s hand holding up a football, a tweet that got the message across loud and clear to fans everywhere.

As previously reported in 2019, Rihanna turned down a Super Bowl appearance to show solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. The upcoming 2023 Super Bowl will take place in Glendale, Arizona on February 12.

After last season’s electric Super Bowl halftime show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige, the bar is certainly set for Rihanna to continue to deliver yet another incredible performance. Fans on Twitter more than believe Rihanna is up to the task!

NFL reveals Rihanna as Super Bowl LVII halftime performer

Rihanna will perform at halftime of Super Bowl LVII in Arizona on Feb. 12

The NFL has come up with a huge name for halftime of Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona, in February.

The league revealed during its games on Sunday that Rihanna will be the act during the break of its championship game on Feb. 12.

“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn. A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment,” said Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter.

This marks the first year of a partnership between Apple Music, the NFL, and Roc Nation.

This is a marked change from a few years ago when the singer turned down an offer to perform out of solidarity with exiled QB Colin Kaepernick.

“I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout,” she told Vogue. “I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.”

Fleetwood Mac ‘Dreams’ skateboarder, Rhianna and others celebrate Lakers NBA title

Some notable names celebrate the title.

Some notable names were on social media Sunday night celebrating the Los Angeles Lakers’ championship.

There was singer Rihanna, decked out in a No. 24 Kobe Bryant jersey, singing Queen’s We Are the Champions. California’s own Dr. Dre taunted Florida native Rick Ross. And Nathan Apodaca — the man behind the Fleetwood Mac Dreams challenge that’s everywhere, including in the sports world — lip-synced to the Queen classic as well. Snoop Dogg got in on the action, too, as did California senator and vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris:
